turning to the crime beat... reno police have now named a suspect in connection to a stolen vehicle case in stead that put three schools in lockdown yesterday. police have identified the suspect as 19-year-old rylin wolfe. he is described as 5 foot six inches tall with brown hair and blue eyes. he is considered armed and dangerous. police say around 10-30 a-m... they tried to make contact with wolfe while investigating a stolen vehicle case, but he fled on foot. investigators say he stole another vehicle left running in a driveway and drove through a residential area, where police called off the chase for the public's safety. anyone with more informaton is asked to call secret witness at 3-2-2 49-hundred or text your tip to 8-4-7 9-1-1. and the carson city sheriff's office has announced the arrest

"the only time we are drawing our weapon is that we're in the need to use deadly force. if we feel threatened. if the public feels threatened." ...shooting guns... and knowing when it's safe to use force - was echoed out here - where recruits spent hours practicing. but their accuracy isn't only tested on the range. ...cars screeching again... they must handle stress behind

they go through this emergency vehicle operators course - learning high-speed maneuvering. "so we're going to match the speed and drift over until we make contact." and, just as practical, is their d-u-i training. with the help of intoxicated volunteers - recruits learn how to properly perform a field sobriety test... and the warning signs of a drunk driver. "the signs and symptoms. there's red, watery eyes, the slow and slurred speech. the odor of intocicants coming from the vehicle." important skills; ...chest compressions... some livesaving, in fact... "it gives these officers a tool belt of different ways to handle any given situation." to digest, retain and call on in a moment's notice. "they know how to wear a badge, carry a gun, investigate crimes, etc. but i want to make sure the word service is always at the forefront of their mind." becoming a public servant isn't a job for the weak. going through the academy isn't easy, but being a police officer is

welcome back... the washoe county school district board of trustees announced it is forming a new oversight committee... for spending on school buildings. as you may know-- the district has been asking for years... for a source of funding to build new schools and ease overcrowding. and this move-- could help them get it. arianna bennett joins us now live from the newsroom with a look at why... ari...? at a public meeting last week for the committee working to raise taxes for school buildings... there was a number of public commenters... who said they were fine with paying a small tax increase... but they were uncomfortable with entrusting that money to the school board. they asked for a third party to manage and oversee that money... and the school board listened. angie: "our facilities people have been tremendous in terms of counting every nickel, watching every dollar, but this

we're having lots of people are taking advantage of the sunshine this week. but what does this mean for our snow pack? the hydrologists we talked to, don't seem to be too concerned. it is not uncommon to have a few dry spells during an el nino winter season. the percentages for our snow pack go down about a percent each dry day. but it's not because the snow is melting, but rather you are dividing by a bigger number of days. jeff anderson: "currently our snow pack up in the mountains where most of our water supply is located is sitting there and frozen. not really melting yet." the best way to see how the snow pack is doing is through local rivers and streams. however, the creeks and streams in reno might be a little bit lower right now because the in town snowfall has melted.
