someone shot and killed two men. it happened about 5:30. police said one man was found dead on the porch of an apartment there and the second man showed up at the hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival. someone shot where the incident happened today and someone said the violence here has to stop. >> it's just madness. please, if anybody knows anything, please, say something. tell somebody. this is ridiculous. that's someone's son. i don't care if it's a turf war or people are fighting over gangs or whatever.

hit something. >> he stopped to check and see what he hit and upon walking back to where he struck the pedestrian, he radio realized at that time -- realized at that time it was not an object, but it was a person. >> investigators say this appears to be a tragic accident and trying to talk to the victim's family and friends as to why he would walk in a place with no sidewalk and no lights. new at 10:00, investigators were called out for a deadly shooting that happened shortly after 7:00 on hillside street south of a school campus. the victim managed to drive himself to a hospital where he died. there is no word on his identity or any information about suspects. >> law enforcement are on the lookout for five escaped inmates considered armed and dangerous. they broke out of the maddera county jail north of fresno last night. police say 31-year-old juan lopez, 25-year-old able ramos,

looking for more victims. a suspect has charged with 17 counts of molestation involving boys. they believe guzman is believed to have contacted victims through churches. the wife of an english cab driver held hostage by sunni extremists asked for the militants to spare his life. he was driving an ambulance stocked with food and water in syria when he was captured last december. isis also known as schawmic state or -- islamic state orisil threatened to kill the 47-year-old. henning's wife says her husband is a peaceful, self-less man devoted to going to syria out of sheer compassion. today's appeal came as dozens of turkish hostages kidnapped were freed. the turkish prime minister said the hostage release was the result of the turkish

a wildfire east of sacramento is now at 80,000 acres and still growing. cal fire says it has the king fire 10% contained tonight. it's burning near pollock pines along highway 50. we know it's destroyed about a dozen buildings including at least four homes. fire keeps moving farther and farther and now it is heading towards the tahoe national forest and damaged some powerlines, but as kevin oliver reports, firefighters got one break today from mother nature. >> reporter: at the head of the king fire, half a dozen hot

shot crews landed right in the path of the blaze. they are trying to stop this fire by hand. the smoke filling the air prevented any help from above. >> as you can see, it's so canned in with smoke right now -- socked in with smoke right now, so the aviation portion of that is done. the inversion helps us moderate the fire behavior and we can actually help to get around the fire. >> reporter: this burned out area started out as a spot fire and jumped out ahead of the fire by a mile earlier this week and knew is more than 600 acres. >> the winds were more than 800 miles per hour. that magnitude of fire can throw that stuff that far ahead of the fire. >> reporter: firefighters say there are few homes in this part of the forest, but there are two reservoirs and already low level power transmission lines from the area were damaged. power officials say they are working around them until they can be repaired. firefighters say the blaze is burning in harder to reach areas. >> it's just some really steep, rugged terrain. >> reporter: they won't even

guess at when it may finally be contained. >> the man suspectedded of -- suspected of starting the king fire is already charged with arson and could face additional charges. he entered a plea of not guilty in placerville yesterday. the district attorney says he could face new charges if more homes burn. the suspect is set to return to court october 28. he is currently being held on $10 million bail. a burst of heavy wind helped fan that giant fire this week. >> yeah, he's been tracking those winds and some showers that moved through the sierra and right into the bay area today. >> the showers developing in the sierra and basically producing a few lightning strikes towards the bay area as well. here is a bigger perspective on the satellite and radar. you see the coverage out towards the fire zone. a few showers to the south of lake tahoe and a closer look at the bay area radar. there's not one lightning strike in eastern contra costa county. that was about 7:20 this evening. there's not a lot of coverage

out there. we could have a spotty shower towards tracy and livermore. we have been watching the weather conditions in the sierra with the showers developing this afternoon and right now though we have partly cloudy skies on the satellite. currently around the fire zone it is 68 degrees. humidity 52%. that's in pollock pines. this fire so huge it's almost impossible to have one representative weather condition for this fire zone. you get an idea as you take a closer look at the topo graphy for the region and the forecast for tomorrow, temperatures not hot. higher elevations around 70 degrees, lower elevations, 80 degrees. winds picking up in the afternoon hours around 10-15 miles per hour around the ridge top. not expecting strong winds. we don't have any warnings in place. still a bit of a breeze kicking in for the afternoon hours in the sierra. i am tracking a storm that could bring another round of showers in the bay area in the five-day forecast. we'll have more on that coming up at 10:35. >> thank you, mark.

the search for a 31-year-old survivalist suspected of shooting and killing a pennsylvania state trooper. it has intensified and become more focused. authorities have narrowed their search to the pocono mountains of monroe county. residents in that area were told to stay indoors as that police action was under way. investigators are searching for eric matthew freeh. he's described as an excellent marksman with anti-government bias and who assumes the role of an eastern european soldier. >> you don't know the real story or what's happened or what's in this guy's mind or what happened. it's sad for the families and just a shame all around. >> fr ein is suspected of opening fire on a police barrick killing corporal brian dickson and seriously wounding another trooper. a reward of $175,000 is now being offered to anyone with information that could lead to an arrest and conviction. it was a close call for a woman in southern california who almost got hit by a piece

thousands of volunteers hit the beach to pick up trash. for this year's coastal clean- up. ktvu's allie ransom al rasmus tells us about the worst pollution problem those volunteers found. >> reporter: at the beach had pacifica, with gloves on and buckets in hand, owen johnson and husband friends start their search. >> i wonder if this is a tire. >> they have a strategy and a goal and amazed by what they found. >> fireworks? >> look at this crab leg.

>> reporter: they are two of the 95 volunteer for coastal clean-up day. today someone's trash is their treasure. >> this is like the styrofoam jackpot. >> lynn adams with the pacifica beach coalition. >> i'm from wisconsin. i moved to pacifica and then i just went wow, this is awesome. >> 20 years later, she is organizing the end clean-up effort here. >> reporter: she says things have improved. a few years ago volunteers collected enough trash to fill up three commercial-sized dumpsters. >> we ged a third of that with more and more people picking up more and more areas. >> a bird could be hurt on that. people are learn about and it less people are littering. >> reporter: volunteers document what they found. >> glass, caps and lids. >> reporter: so environmental educators can target their message. >> the no. 1 trash item collected, cigarette butts the first alerters have made out of

plastic and they don't decompose. mys and daughter surf here. >> we decided since we use this beach and love this area, we'll clean up. >> just grateful to be here and wake up everyday and say we're living in paradise. >> reporter: she and the other volunteers here want to keep it that way. in pacifica, allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. and 3800 involves spread out across 83 different sites in santa cruz and monterey counties scouring the shores there and they picked up nearly 22,000 pounds of track and recyclable materials across those two counties of the dirtiest site the elkhorn slew on monterey bay. some of the strangest things collected including a christmas tree and water pipe. parents got a free checkup to make sure their children are safe on the road.

forces of tropical storm polo. good news following the devastation there, left behind by hurricane odile. here is some of the damage done to homes and businesses there. total devastation for people of course who live there. general motors has announced another recall, this one involving more than 200,000 vehicles at possible risk for fires the recall includes the 2013 to 2015 model years for the cadillac xts and chevy impalas, model years of 2014 and 2015. gm says a problem with the parking brake could create extra heat and could create a fire. gm knows of no injuries or scenes due to the defect and promises to notify owners and repair the investigated for tree. east bay community hubs and home to a california film festival. >> meteorologist mark tamayo is back with a look at your sunday forecast it makes me happy to go on the computer.

well, no major heat across the bay area for today. still some warm numbers inland and i few showers approving the region this evening. right now we have basically shown the temperatures from this afternoon. they range from the mid-60s in pacifica, lots of 70s towards antioch. in fact, this is part of our old system that generated a few showers in the bay area earlier in the week, late wednesday into thursday morning. here is a closer look at the radar. not a lot of coverage with the live doppler sweep. spotty showers to the east of the livermore. as you can see the shower coverage is to the east of the region. also we had low clouds and
