san jose police say the suspect tried to change his appearance. take a look here. on the left is a surveillance image released yesterday. and on the right is the suspect's mugshot taken today. ktvu's azenith smith is live now at san jose police headquarters with more on how officers tracked him down. >> reporter: they really wanted to catch this guy and police did just that. they got 100 tips after blasting his photo on social media and on television. and police say they just need that one tip to help them out and one tip led to his arrest. >> reporter: relief from san jose police as they show off the mugshot of mohammad khaliqi who altered his aexperience after authorities were -- his appearance after authorities were looking for him. police say the 31-year-old

lived in san jose within walking distance of when he tried to assault his victims. police said he is associated with that home. this morning he surrended and was arrested. >> -- surrendered and was arrested. >> this is a sexual predator that is off the streets now but this was a very alarming crime to me and i have been here for 22 years. >> reporter: police have credible evidence including this video from the girl's west san jose house that captured one of his attacks as he followed her walking home from school. you can see mohammad khaliqi forcing his way in and cornering the girl. she punches him and he gets away. the victim said while he didn't hurt her he left her scared. mohammad khaliqi is suspect offend following a 28-year-old woman into a market rest room

last month. in that case the woman also fought him off. >> the survivors can rest assured now that that predator is off the streets. i am very relieved as the chief, as a police officer and as a citizen he is off the streets. >> reporter: we mentioned how he altered his appearance. that is very typical for folk whose are out on the run to do that. and police are now investigating to see if there are more victims. >> thank you. east bay, detectives are investigating the disappearance of a teenager earlier this week. the contra costa county sheriff's department says the 14-yield was reported missing on tuesday. she left her home monday night or tuesday morning. the sheriff's department says it looks like she left voluntarily but she is considered at risk because of her age. she may be associated with this

truck slid off the road. for two days they were entertained by dad who signaled for help and they were rescued by helicopter. >> reporter: he said that was the best thing about the trip. >> riding the helicopter. >> what was that like? >> good. >> reporter: was it crazy? scary? >> it was not scary. >> reporter: it is clear the kids' father camping preparation got them through a tough time. >> yeah, they had water, they had food to eat and sleeping bags. they had a tent. but no place to put it up. it was good. >> reporter: the kids' aunt flew in from new york. >> we are blessed and happy. i want to thank our friends and happy that prayed for us.
