grocery stores. now-- they could be in marijuana shops too. today, legislators to create pesticide-free pot. 9news reporter tarhonda thomas is here with more. tarhonda-- there's use of that term "organic." according to our today... no pot can be certified "organic." is controlled by government. ..and pot is still illegal under but colorado lawmakers are considering an alternative that's "as close as you marijuana. today, a legislative committee will hear a proposal to certification system for marijuana. it would look to see whether the growers used any pesticides or contaminants. the pot would "pesticide-free." label and market that way. this matters to consumers recall, last year inspectors seized thousands of marijuana plants

though the grower called them "organic." health inspectors "recalled" contaminated with there are no on which pesticides are safe to use on ...because, again, federally illegal. state lawmakers that, too. considering a plan that would require the government to create a list of pesticides that are approved to be plants. newsroom... the u-s has conducted an airstrike in libya... hitting an isis camp. the target of the raid was a senior tunisian operative... linked to 2 major terrorist attacks in tunisia last year - according to the new york times. nbc news reports dozens of people were killed and others were wounded by the strike. it's not clear yet if the target of the strike was killed. presidential candidates are rushing to get their message to

hacking into a terrorist's cell phone - to help the fbi investigate the san bernardino mass shooting. apple says creating the backdoor into the iphone will endanger the encryption of every apple device out there. also last night - cnn hosted a town hall for 3 of the republican candidates: donald trump, jeb bush and john kasich. the 3 others appeared on wednesday night. and in chicago today - a judge will hear arguments that republican candidate ted cruz cannot be president. an illinois voter will argue that cruz is not a "natural born citizen" because he was born in canada

the race. the voter doesn't want cruz on the state's primary ballot. his objection was originally dismissed - and today is the appeal hearing. the man accused of shooting and killing a castle rock native at a school in arizona... will face a judge today. stephen jones will learn whether some of the charges against him will be brought back to a grand jury.... jones is accused of shooting and killing colin brough.. and injuring three others last year during a fight. this year cu- boulder ranks 5th in the country for graduates serving as peace corps volunteers. that's one spot up from last year. the school currently has 53 alumni serving around the world. the university of washington ranked number 1 with 72 volunteers and c- s-u came in 8th with 43. as far as graduate schools go... the university of denver tied with the university of michigan at number two... 17 volunteers. wall street will try to resume its winning ways today. futures numbers are indicated a positive start when

rings at 7:30 mountain time. stocks snapped three days of gains on thursday, as a rise in oil prices was offset by disappointing earnings from wal-mart. oil is edging lower today. we get data this morning on inflation at the consumer level. the federal communications commission has voted to unlock the cable box -- approving a proposal to let consumers swap pricey cable boxes rented directly from their provider for cheaper third- party devices and apps. the proposal passed in a three- to-two vote... and it should boost competition in the 20 billion dollar television set-top box market. "nothing in this proposal slows down or stops cable innovation. in fact, we all know the history has been clear, that innovation is the result of competition, not a result of a forced 'you must rent this box from me month,

month.'" the f-c-c says nearly all pay-tv users currently must get their set- top boxes from their cable companies... and that they pay on average $231 each year. another windy day ahead - after it caused a lot of trouble for thousands of people trying to get home in the i-25 corridor. there was a loose panel on the 100- foot-tall ikea sign... and they shut down the highway and light rail between dry creek and county line road for a couple of hours. they were worried that the panel would blow into traffic. thanks to south metro fire...the sign is now safe... and inspectors will be out in the coming days to look at it. and the wind knocked down this 60-foot tree near east dartmouth and south franklin in englewood. no one was injured. it took a little while to clear the

tradition meets new construction. regis is a slice of denver between i-76 and i-70, capped by federal to the east. just over 5,000 residents occupy the brick bungaloes, brownstones and new condo construction and spend time in the shops and restaurants along lowell blvd. average income for regis residents hovers around 41,000 a year, and the average age of this young community is right around 33. home prices have gone up 18% in the last year, as this destination has become an overflow for popular neighborhoods like the highlands. a quick drive along lowell just norh of i-70 is filled with rennovations, improvements and new multi family housing like these condos, located right next to the new gold spot brewery. comnig up in the next hour, we will share some of the social responses hilly, view-filled north denver locale. the zika virus is changing pope

birth control. the pontiff says he takes the threat of the virus seriously. he's willing to relax the catholic church's opposition to birth control to help control the spread of zika. the virus has been linked to birth defects that cause babies to have underdeveloped brains. a big change could be coming to the airline industry... you might not have to lift your carry-on bag into the overhead bin in the future! but first, lets check in with belen and amelia. could it be the end of overhead bins?

patent for an under-seat storage compartment. instead of overhead bins, airline passengers would store carry-ons under their seat. while the design would end the passenger fight for overhead bin storage, it would force passengers to leave their seat each time they or put away laptops, purses and backpacks. it would also limit leg room. more people are joining what's called the "gig" economy -- mostly to supplement their primary income. a study by jpmorgan chase finds nearly 1% of adults earned cash last september from one of the companies that's part of the sharing or gig economy -- we're talking uber or airbnb. at 2-and-a-half million, the sharing labor force is now equal to the number of teachers in the public school system. but the average monthly income is
