settled in over colorado. the chance for any severe weather out of the question at least for our state. but the better potential for that stormy weather to the south, and out on the mid-atlantic. we'll have wall to wall sunshine as the temperatures continue to warm, already by lunchtime, temperatures will be in the 80s. our dry streak, unfortunately, will continue, i'll let you know when the next chance of rain is coming up in the full forecast. let's take a look at the morning drive. >> things are getting busy, , around 32nd avenue. near the young field exit. where you can see there's a fire crew and an ambulance and an accident here, blocking the center lane, let's take a look at ground level now, to the cdot camera. eastbound lanes are completely tangled up here on i-70 t. live view on the ground level shows that this will be the big-time impact, not only with lanes blocked but the curiosity factor in the westbound stretch of the highway drive as well, with all of this action out here to the west, i would try to plan for an extra 5-10, either direction

sits, backups taking us down to 23 miles per hour, big picture wise here, not a lot happening out to the east side, but the west, has been our problem spot this morning. on top of that crash to the west side of town, out towards gold, we have a stalled car near 6th avenue and these delays will pile up here quickly, back to 8th avenue here within the next few minutes. 6:04. right now t fbi agents are searching a f jersey, federal agents went into the business about a half hour ago, the raid is in connection to an ongoing investigation of bombs found there and in new york. a device exploded near a train station in new jersey early this morning, just as a bomb squad robot was trying to disarm it. it happened 20 miles away from another explosion in manhattan saturday night. now, the fbi is trying to figure out if and how they are connected.

developments coming in this morning, colleen, the fbi is now looking for someone they want to question in the explosion that happened on saturday night. >>reporter: yes, they are, cheryl, this is real new information that is just coming into our newsroom right now, if you're following on twitter, following any of this case, then you will know about this. let's take a look at this picture right now, fbi asking for help in locating a mid -- for questioning, related to the afghan descent. the fbi says he how old be considered armed and dangerous. now, on sunday night, authorities stopped what they called r, quote, a vehicle of interest in the new york blast. five people were in the car. none of them have been charged. they say the investigation according to that still ongoing at this time. . >> all right.

new jersey this morning. law enforcement officials now telling nbc the suspicious device discovered sunday night in elizabeth looks similar in appearance to the one that exploded saturday morning in seaside park, new jersey, at the site of that 5-k run that was just about to take place. it was later saturday night that an explosion happened in manhattan, this is security video from that night, this explosion injured 29 people in the chelsea neighborhood. less than 3 hoursft device was found a few blocks away, nbc is saying the surveillance video may show the same man at both locations where the devices were found. the fbi is looking for that man, i showed you picture, in connection to what happened in manhattan. all three devices apparently contain the old mobile flip phones, that's according to officials, officials also say that they are concerned that an active terrorism cell with

area, cheryl, we are following these new developments, again, things are really fluid right now, constantly changing, so if i get anything new in the next couple of minutes i'll be sure to bring it to you guys. >> thank you. the bombings have drawn 1,000 additional new york stay trooters and national guard -- troopers and national guard members to new jersey, as they prepare to host the assembly. the global refugee and migrant to protect the rights of 65 million refugees and migrants. 6:07. opioid abuse is a growing epidemic in the united states, every 19 minutes, an american dies from an opioid overdose, the justice department is renewing its efforts, hoping to tackle this relentless problem. jessica oh is live in aurora this morning, and jessica, this comes while law enforcement in our own state, could be getting a new weapon to combat it.

press conference on that, with colorado's a.g. to talk about what the state is doing to combat this growing and relenltless issue. we know, this is not just a problem in colorado but across the nation. as well. opioid and heroin addiction is the single greatest drug threat to the u.s.. the casualty rate has actually quadrupled since 1999 with on average around 100 americans dying from overdoses every single day. we know that tackling this problem will be tough. attorney general loretta lynch in strategy in the field and in policy as well. in the field, again, that's what they're going to talk about later on today. they're hoping to get a reversal drug into the hands of law enforcement officials, they feel like that may be the fastest way, to prevent overdoses. on the other side of that, of course, they are renewing efforts and strategies to focus on education, prevention, and treatment. we have noticed a big push in colorado for example, even

psa's on the radio, how to get treatment for heroin overdose, and of course, corey, as you know, the city of denver said they are also working with city leaders to figure out a better way to deal with these issue, other than arresting someone, who may be using drugs. >> that's good that they're getting the conversation started and something will be done about it. thank you. the man shot by a boulder county deputy last weekend has died. 37-year-old adrian shaffer, opened fire on deputy y shot back hittinger 10th. shaffer. he died nearly a week later. several 911 callers have reported a man with a gun, walking along the road, threatening drivers. the shooting is under investigation. he is a 19-year veteran of the sheriff's department. it's 0:69 now. -- 6:09 now.

but we're actually about 5 degrees warmer than just 24 hours ago. so that is setting the pace for the warmup this afternoon. in the high country, temperatures in the 30s, and 40s, in some spots. fast forward to this afternoon, it will be toasty in the eastern half of the state. 80s and 90s. in the high country, 70s and 89 over in grand junction. this afternoon, if you're headed to coors field to cheer on our rockies against the cardinals, it is going to be hot in those seats. temperatures in around first pitch, and then for the remainder of the game, we're going to remain under those clear skies, so you don't need to worry about any delays as far as the weather goes. futurecast is going to keep us quiet, not only here, in the metro area, but across the state. through tonight, skies will be clear, through tomorrow morning, we do have clouds that increase from the southwest so that could bring us a hazy sunshine day tomorrow. 55 will be the low tonight. tomorrow, summer is just standing still.

on wednesday, 85 degrees. fall officially kicks off on thursday. the next chance for storms arrives at the end of the week, and by saturday, we're talking about highs in the upper 60s. let's take a look at the traffic now, amelia, it's getting busy. >> it is getting busy out here, thanks, belen, 6:16, out to the view of 25 and 6th avenue. the possibility of that stalled vehicle, it's not causing a big impact. ground level to the cdot camera across i-70, all near for avenue or young field exit. center lanes are still blocked all taking place in the eastbound direction. take a look at this. one car is still perpendicular to traffic, blocking things off, everybody is forced into that far left lane and the delays are growing very quickly. live views of our maps in the area are going to show our speeds dropping into the 20s leading touch the crash. 6th avenue is a much easier way to access i-25 if you're trying to get close towards downtown.

the man police say took the lives of at least two people and held a third victim hostage is going to be in an ohio courtroom today. shawn great will be arraigned today and enter a plea, police arrested him on tuesday after a woman he was holding hostage was able to get his cell phone, call 911 while he was sleeping. when the police got there, they found the bodies of two women inside of his home. a third body was found at another abandoned property. police have not charged him for that crime yet. morning after isis took credit for stabbing nearly a dozen people at a st. cloud mall, a man dressed as a private security guard entered the cross roads center mall, armed with a knife, witnesses say he was shouting about a la. an off duty police officer shot and killed him. today could mark the beginning of the end for what's now known as the bridge gate scandal. bridgette kelly and bill will

this is 9 news. it is an epidemic we cannot ignore, heroin and opioid abuse is growing problem in our country and in colorado homes. now, the police across the state

weapon to try to help fight it. the fourth quarter rolled around and it looked like the broncos might be in danger of losing yet another game to the colts but the best defense in the nfl stepped up in a big way. breaking down the game and looking ahead to cincinnati. we start, though, taking a live look in an fbi raid in elizabeth, new jersey this morning. fbi agents are spotted at a fried chicken restaurant there and sources are telling nbc news the agents were inv investigation into three explosions in new jersey and new york. nbc news is talking with the police who say they are worried an active terrorism cell with a number of players could be at work in the new york, new jersey area. and now, the police in new york city are looking for this man, 28-year-old, ahmad khan rahami, they say he is armed and dangerous, officers think he be able to give them more information about all three explosions. a senior law enforcement

khan rahami is the man in the surveillance video in the chelsea neighborhood. cameras were rolling as a pipe bomb inside of a backpack exploded in new jersey. a bomb squad robot was checking out the device when it blew up. two men found the backpack full of explosionives inside of a trash can about 300 feet from the front door of a crowded pub in elizabeth. saturday m, jersey and in new york city, 29 people were hurt in the explosion in the area of manhattan saturday night. the blast sent a dumpster flying more than 150 feet down a sidewalk and shattered windows more than a block away. this morning, the police are questioning five people, in connection to that blast. fbi agents are looking into whether all three explosions are connected, in all cases, flip

opioid epidemic, is twofold, there is the education prevention and treatment side of things and on the other side, there is a need for something a little more hands on, and that's what they will be talking about today. so today, colorado's a.g., cynthia coffman plans on talking about a drug called narcan. that's the drug that helps reverse the effects of an overdose, and while it may not prevent or may not cure addictions, it certainly law expanding access for that drug, because opioid use had become already such an issue by then. and today, they are looking to expand that use a little more but put thg drug into the hands of law enforcement officials. police are the first people who get there, they are hoping that the law enforcement official also be able to carry narcan, trained on how to use it and help prevent overdoses and

other side of things, critics are worried that if you do have this drug readily available, that it might end up increasing the use of opioids, but that is certainly something tla that we will ask about later today. but certainly, something needs to be done, guy, considering that nearly 300 coloradoans die from opioid use every single year. >> thank you so much. a party stretching into the early morning ends teenage girl' death. thornton police are looking for the person who pulled the trigger before 2:00 a.m. saturday at a house party near monaco . police say there was some kind of a fight and a man named a 16-year-old as he left. the police described the suspect as hispanic man in his late teens or early 20s, maybe wearing a nose ring and glasses, he may be driving a red sedan.

counselors will be at peak to peak charter school in lafayette today to help the students deal with the death of a classmate. he collapsed at a cross country meet. they gathered at the track to remember 18-year-old brandon reece, he collapsed friday during the 5-k race in broomfield. the boulder daily camera reports reece was cocaptain of the team. support from one community servant today the firefighter, corey sutton, owns i vibe coffee in littleton. he's hosting a fundraiser today for detective dan brite, half after owl of the sales today will go -- all of the sales today will go to the brite family. detective brite was shot on september 2nd while reporting to a man. bright was still in critical condition at last check.
