shot in denver's rino neighborhood. this is a live look at the area blocked off at larimer street and 27th. here's what we know right now -- one person was killed... and another was taken to the hospital... in critical condition. police don't have any information about a suspect as of now. we're working with police to get more information for you. anyone who thought the first presidential debate was heated... is definitely reacting to last night's second presidential debate. things got ugly-- as the candidates faced some uncomfortable topics. 9news reporter tarhonda thomas is here with more. tarhonda-- more people than ever reacted to the debate on social

yes, they did. more than 17- million debate- related tweets were sent-- during the debate. that makes it the most tweeted- about debate in history. and one phrase from the debate-- is topping the trends on twitter. the phrase-- "lockerroom talk" is trending... because it's how donald trump "explained away" his crude comments on women. a tape with those comments -- recorded in 2005-- came out over the weekend. trump denied ever acting on the things he said in the tape. he tried to put hillary clinton on the defensive-- by inviting several women to the sexual misconduct. that group also included a woman who was involved in a rape case-- where clinton was the defense attorney. trump claimed-- clinton laughed at the victim. our fact-checking team found-- this needs context. clinton is heard laughing during the course of an interview with the reporter. moving to other issues-- hillary clinton says-- millions of kids have healthcare because of the work she did. our team found-- that's largley true... since clinton helped create the children's health insurance program.

the candidates did end the night on a good note, though. each was asked to give a compliment to each other. clinton says-- she admires trump's children . trump says-- he admires how clinton never gives up. both candidates are back on the campaign trail this morning-- after the contentious debate. clinton of course attacked trump on the audio recording where he was caught making lewd comments about women. trump turned around to accuse former president bill clinton of sexual misconduct himself. then-- the two candidates battled it out over clinton's emails and private server. trump promised to appoint a special prosecutor to quote look into clinton's situation" when it came to those emails. clinton responded with this-- clinton brought up trumps taxes

trump acknowledged that he used the 916 million dollar loss in 1995 to legally avoid paying personal federal income taxes for years. no arrests have been reported this morning after things also got heated outside of the the debate hall in saint louis last night. the protests started early in the day yesterday. demonstrators made their way to the venue at washington university and shut down a main roadway at one point throughout the protests-- hed chanting everything from "this is what democracy looks like" to "black lives matter". many of the demonstrators were a part of a coalition advocating for a 15 dollar an hour minimum wage. protestors say their goal was to get the candidates to focus on their issues. granted... twitter's only been around 10 years -- but sunday night's duel was the most tweeted debate of all time. more than 17 million debate- related tweets were sent during the debate. it wasn't just twitter... coloradoans were

this chart shows which candidate was searched most in colorado during the debate on google. note- trump ranked number 1 for a while early in the debate talk about his behavior and that leaked audio of his offensive comments toward women. then it went back and for the for the rest of the debate. as for which words were searched heavily within colorado during the debate check out this list from trendsmap. words like locker, assault, presidential and russia were among the popular key words along with related terms. vice presidential nominee tim kaine is will be in denver today. he'll appear with with musician dave matthews. the campaign says they'll urge voters to make sure they're registered to vote. the rally- slash - concert gets underway at 1 - 30 this afternoon at the national western complex.

side-- vice presidential candidate mike pence is scheduled for campaign stops in north carolina this morning. during the debate -- trump told commentators he and pence did not agree on syria. meanwhile-- pence has gone on record saying he could not condone or support trump's comments realeased friday. democratic incumbent senator michael bennet and republican challenger, darryl glenn - are gearing up for their live debate on 9news tomorrow. political reporter brandon rittiman and kyle clark are the moderators. the debate starts at 7 pm. you can catch it on channel 20 and-- online on 9news dot com. in haiti-- they are still assessing the death toll from hurricane matthew. some communities remain completely cut off. tens of thousands of homes were destroyed-- and hundreds of people are dead. some news outlets are reporting at least a thousand dead. international relief efforts are ramping up-- because many people have been

hurricane matthew is no longer a hurricane... the storm is on its way out to sea this morning after hitting parts of the u-s. in north carolina-- many homes remain underwater today following severe flooding. a state of emergency is still in effect for at least 43 counties in that state alone. at least 17 people across the u-s have been killed. close to one thousand people have been rescued from rooftops and car tops-then shuttled out by boat. about a foot of rain fell in some areas--- and highways have evacuations-- people are now warned to stay home. the devastation spans across 5 states this morning. the water could stick around in some flooded areas for a week-- possibly longer.

coach gary kubiak is recovering this morning after being sent to the hospital for observation. we've been trying to get an update on his condition. but the team isn't saying much. coach kubiak was taken by ambulance to the hospital... after the game. the team says he had "flu-like symptoms"... and was lethargic.

where police say they're looking for a man who may have kidnapped a woman . investigators say saturday afternoon - christopher rimpson - attacked the woman and dragged her into gold, 1994 g-m-c suburban - on sable boulevard -- off east 6th avenue. police believe she is 34 year old britteny fields. the suburban has colorado plates. if you have information about the case - you're asked to call 9-1-1. the national fallen firefighters memorial in maryland has a new name on its walls this morning. john whelan's name was added sunday morning. he fell through a skylight - while fighting a fire in june of 2015 - and

weeks later. yesterday his name was read - along with more than 100 other fallen firefighters - at a ceremony held by the national fallen firefighters foundation. whelan served denver fire for 15 years. he left behind a son and wife. it's time to gear up for those turkey trots and holiday fun runs. but before you hit the pavement you may want to think about what's on your feet. what you need to keep in mind when picking out your running shoes still to come. but first, lets check in with marty and amelia.
