government buildings. several blasts have been heard. this is most likely an attempt to move attention from the u.s. supported battle to retake mosul from isis. we'll watch the situation through the morning. a u.s. soldier has been killed in that fight against isis militants in mosul. soldier died thursday after a road-side bomb went off near the iraqi city. his name is now. the government says he was an explosives disposal specialist. this is the first american death in that operation which started last monday. firefighters in customer county are making good progress in fighting the fire near west cliff. enough progress it is safe for some evacuees to be back home. thursday night firefighters had this 33% contained. there are still neighborhoods off limits.

people out of their homes on monday. wind knocked a building into a power pole that sparked 28 square miles of fire. a popular rhino bar has to follow new security rules now that it is back opened. people lined up 7:00 thursday night for the reopening of the cold crush at 27th and laramer. the city forced it to close and suspended the bar's liquor license last week after a man was shot and killed there earlier this month. police say it time there have been problems at the bar. the owner met with city leaders and came up with a security plan to deal with the violence. >> i think what we got out of this is we are supported in this community. that's probably the best feeling you can have as a business owner to know this many people in this area and this many people frequent your bar and don't want to see it closed. >> among the new security measures at the bar there will

front door and a dress code. somebody is trying to hurt mountain bike riders in eagle county and going through trouble to do that. there is a local and federal investigation. mountain bike riders say they found spiked boards buried on the popular dirt surfer trail near eagle. it is on federal land. in may cyclist found spikes embedded in bricks buried on the trail in forest in jefferson county. hillary clinton and donald trump took the stage together in new york. it wasn't a debate. they started right where they left off in the debate from wednesday throwing insults at each other. this time though it was for a good cause. they were at the smith charity dinner. it is a traditional dinner that raises money for children. annual dinner is meant to lighten the mood after recent political discord. donald trump started off his speech being political.

republican congressman hoffman squared off with morgan carol. they are fighting to represent colorado's sixth direct which is aurora. it is one of the most competitive seats in the house of representatives. most candidates pressed each other heavily on the presidential election who they support and immigration policy. when asked to compliment their political careers neither able to do it. >> first you, accomplishment of your opponent you respect in the legislator.

the sky9 is over arapahoe and revere over a watermain break. cdot said there are restrictions eastbound across arapahoe. no full closures we could see backups as traffic builds. we are looking at a live view of the southbound 25 crash at 104th with the big backups. crash is still in the right lane. it has been there an 120th seeing a slowdown. on the approach to 120th you want to jump off and use washington and huron. up north southbound stretch from e-470 is costing drivers 21 minutes. averages dropping in the 30s. we have that power outage a raccoon got into a transformer and the transformer ended up exploding.

disabled colfax and alameda were disabled. jury deliberations should start today in the trial of a cu student charged with stabbing and killing another student. it happened outside of a bar last december. testimony of the trial is over. he is charged year-old. > one of the two teenage girls accused of plotting an attack on their school in highlands ranch will be charged as an adult. sienna johnson wants that change. her attorneys want the case to play out in juvenile court. today her case is getting a status conference. they were 16 when prosecutors say they tried to get the weapons to carry out their attack on mountain vista high school last december. johnson will be in douglas county court this afternoon for

officers is accused of selling drug and he'll in court today. he was trying to sell marijuana out of his house. he has been in trouble before. two years ago he was fired from denver police for lying during an internal investigation. he was charged for assaulting his girlfriend back in 2013. donald trump is now saying he will accept the results of the presidential election next month sort wednesday night at the debate when he refused to say he would accept the election results. his refusal angered members of his own party. >> i will totally accept the results of this great and historic presidential election

thursday here at 1:00 on 9news. latino millennials are not excited about the presidential election. a new study conducted at the university of denver shows they are not connecting with any of the candidates. not good news when you consider there are half a million eligible latino voters in the state of colorado. millennials, adults in their lower 30s and younger make up 40% of in big numbers. the researchers think they know why. >> they see protest activities and being involved in social media to influence politics is more powerful than voting. >> a spokesperson for the latino leadership institute says new data can be used to target specific groups to try to help millennials get out to the polls and vote. it is chilly this morning.

races faced off on 9news. republican congressman hoffman and morgan carroll competed for the sixth congressional seat. representative coffman is seeking his fifth term in office. senator carroll hopes her victory helps swing the house to a democrat majority. >> our 9news political experts are here ian and kelley are here to talking about it. kelley, as a republican a big deal was whether or not hoffman supports donald trump. he said he doesn't system that good new or bad news? >> brandon and kyle reported last night up to 60% of republicans who are supporting donald trump, could think twice about supporting mike hoffman because of his decision not to support donald trump.
