plane vice presidential candidate mike pence was in slide off the runway.

ok...but it was a scary landing. the campaign plane carrying vice presidential nominee mike pence skidded off the runway at new york's laguardia airport, late thursday. they landed in heavy rain and overshot the runway. the plane eventually came to a stop - and more than 30 people - including pence's wife and oldest daughter - were evacuated. thankfully - nobody was injured hillary clinton tweeted right after it happened that she was happy to hear that everyone was ok. as investigators try to figure out at his running mate donald trump - is criss-crossing new hampshire, maine and iowa today.. and tomorrow - trump will be back in colorado. he will hold a rally in golden on saturday -- at the jefferson county fairgrounds event center. the event begins at noon - doors open at 9 in the morning. you can register for tickets online. and two first ladies..current and former - hit the campaign together on thursday. hillary clinton and first lady michelle

carolina... hoping to drive voters to the polls. but - the day also included a new batch of leaked emails...that link bill clinton's income -- to the success of the clinton charitable foundation. 98 federal inmates...will get to go home early. president obama continued his push to commute sentences during his final months in office. almost all of the 98 were convicted of non-violent, drug-related offenses. several of them - were serving life sentences. will not go home until october 20-18 - two years into the next president's term. after a month of testimony and a vague delay due to "legal issues" - jurors will hear closing arguments in the "bridge-gate" trial. two former allies of new jersey governor chris christie are charged with a retaliation plot... they're accused of closing george washington bridge access lanes for four days -- all to punish a democratic mayor who didn't endorse christie.

in north dakota - as officers try to remove protesters from private property where the dakota access pipeline is being built. protesters who refused to move faced bean bag guns and pepper spray near one of the construction sites in central north dakota. the activists say the pipeline could contaminate water and disturb the burial grounds of the standing rock sioux tribe. officers say the protesters were trespassing and blocking a highway. protesters plan to set up a new camp to the east- on federally owned land that's also in the pipeline's path. earlier this year - america watched another occupation - by activists in oregon and today - leaders of the bundy militia were found not guilty - for their role in the takeover of a wildlife refuge there. the seven militia members were accused of conspiring to block

standoff that lasted almost six weeks. the head of the group -- ammon bundy -- is still being held on other charges. 9wants to know and the boulder daily camera have obtained never- before-released dna data in the jonbenet ramsey murder case ... that has many asking if the girl's family should have ever been exonerated. then-boulder district attorney mary lacy cleared the family in 2008, saying dna testing had proved the ramsey's weren't involved -- and authorities had the the killer. we took the evidence to experts ... and they say the dna evidence in the case is not conclusive -- may not even be the killer's -- and may not even be a profile of a single person. not only that ... the documents obtained include a report given to the da's office before lacy cleared the ramseys saying the dna on jonbenet's clothes was likely a mixture of material from at least three people. those involved in the case at the time -- including former governor bill owens -- said the findings shocked

ashby was on duty when he followed jacquez into a home and shot him in the back in 20-14. ashby told investigators he thought the man was a burglar. police say a man who died in winter park was a "great guy" but had a problem with alcohol abuse. according to the vail daily, 55-year- old mark albrecht died from alcohol intoxication and exposure. albrecht's body was found near a campsite on tuesday. it's believed parents could out-live theirch because of the obesity crisis in america. but a new proposal in one of colorado's healthiest cities could help kids lead a healthier life. right now, taxes on sugary drinks lay in the hands of voters in boulder. the proposed tax would tack on two cents per ounce on sugary drinks. the measure is known as 2-h. if approved, the proposal could raise as much as 3- point-8 million dollars a year. the money would go towards

hitting the 80s.. ski resorts are pushing back opening days - but say - they're not too worried. a spokesman for loveland ski area says they will not open this weekend. this photo was taken near the lower end of a run today. snow making means there's plenty of snow at the top - but it's just not cold enough at the bottom. most resorts - are planning for a november opening. usually - we've seen snow in denver by this
