more breaking news.. unlv and sheldon adelson may team up to build a billion dollar stadium and bring the n-f-l to las vegas. we have confirmed sands management is meeting with an n- f-l team owner tomorrow. fox five's elizabeth watts is live in our newsroom with what she has learned.. i spoke with a sands corp spokesperson who confirms they're looking into building a billion dollar stadium on u-n-l-v owned land near campus... and tomorrow the owner of the oakland raiders is meeting with sheldon adelson- at adelson's request... he wants to build a 60-thousand seat, domed- state of the art- stadium that would be home to unlv's football team and sporting events year round.. the location would be the 42 acres of land unlv owns near campus.. it's on

koval. the sands says the southern nevada tourism infrastructure committee is meeting in the middle of this year to give suggestions to the governor on prioritizing tourism improvement projects in southern nevada... they believe nothing would move that needle more than a new world class stadium... so the sands may seek legislative approval for hotel room taxes that support the l-v-c-v-a to be diverted to the project. the l-v-c-v-a said in a statement it looks forward to the project being presented... and any new facilities that will attract more visitors is a positive for our community. u-n-l-v's president released a statement... saying as previously stated in public meetings- the unlv site has tremendous value... and says no decision has been made on how the property will be used... but he said if a public-private partnership can be formed that includes the development of a new special events stadium with little or no cost to unlv.. and they can use the facility.. it would be of great value to unlv.

newsroom ew ffn llv. the raiders pulled a bid to move to l-a earlier this month because the team didn't have nfl support. the st louis rams are moving to l-a with a billion dollar stadium project in inglewood. if the chargers don't also end up in l-a- the raiders could get a chance to go there. and even more breaking news.. north las vegas polcie are investigating a homicide that happened around 4:30 this afternoon.. police say a person was found shot in the 33- hundred block of civic center, which is near cheyenne. the victim was taken to umc but did not survive. there is no suspect in

police are investigating. it was a very busy night for metro police.. reponding to three homicides in less than 12 hours. one shooting happened at bus stop near tropicana and eastern shortly before one. police say a group of four men approached two men at the bus stop.. at some point - someone shot .. killing one of the men at the stop and injuring the other. police think this was gang related .. and do not have anyone in custody. last night .. police found a man in his early 20's dead in an apartmant courtyard near pecos and lake mead. he'd been shot several times. witnesses say they saw a man wearing a hoodie running from the scene. police also have no one in custody for this homicide. also overnight .. a deadly stabbing not too far from the stratosphere .. near las vegas boulevard and saint louis. police say the victim and another man got into a fight. he was taken to the hospital where he later died. police say witnesses inside the home have identified the suspect.. but at last check .. no one was in custody. yesterday

pointed a gun at two ten-year olds and robbed them! this happened just about a mile away from grant sawyer middle school in the northwest. the gunman and another man he was with, stole the children's school issued ipads and ran... police do not have anyone in custody. and in the northeast valley ... school officials have warned parents about an attempted abduction, near o'callaghan middle school. school officials say two students were approached by an adult male as they were walking home from school. the man then asked the asked the students if they wanted a ride home. a letter was also sent to parents of brookman elementary school. north las vegas mayor john lee had plenty to boast about during his state of the city address this morning. the city has gone from the verge of finanical ruin to one of the fastest moving economies in the southwest. fox5's les krifaton joins us live from north las vegas city hall -- and les faraday future wasn't the only topic of today's address. faraday future

north las vegas. mayor john lee accepts the accolades for the plant building here but he's the first one to say the transformation of north las vegas was a team effort. it was four short years ago when then north las vegas mayor shari buck had this to say about the bleak future for the city. 11:15 the past two years have been some of the most difficult endured by the city. the economic down turn that hit the country in 2008 is a thing of the past..fast forward to today 01:39:39 don't pooh pooh north las vegas what mayor lee seems most proud of is getting the city's 152 million dollar deficit he inherited when he took office down to 74 million in one year. two years later the bottom line is better than ever. 01:50:54 i'm happy to report that we've reduced it to under $23 million. (applause) lee says with the deficit now under control another target he has his sights set on is expanding job opportunities. i don 't want everybody going to work in hospitality

goal is to diversify the incomes of the residents who live in north las vegas a big step in that direction was getting faraday future a new electric auto company to choose north las vegas as home for its planned mega plant. the plant which will be built at the apex industrial park is already looking attractive to other potential businesses and industries. mayor lee then talked about expansion projects around the freeway. i'm very excited to announce that we are opening the entire area for business development and for providing access from the i-15 the mayor also talked about a vision of making north las vegas home for medical research. he emphasied that all this wouldn't be possible if others had not been for the people who call north las vegas home it's a team effort, one person can't do it alone. i have a brilliant team of men and women behind us and we analyse, we look we make hires at strategic times and

for people like joel jarvis who came to hear the mayor his message left him imprseed with what lies ahead in north las vegas i'm super excited about the faraday deal. i mean i 've seen it but to hear it come from the mayor and what he's been doing behind the scenes tio bring this home i think it will change nevada. mayor lee told me after his presentation of the state of city that what he talked about was just the beginning of what he expects to be a year of some big announcments the nevada commission of ethics is looking at the faraday future deal to see if the deal meets minimum job qualification requirements ahead tonight .. we check in with ted about our changing weather. and fighting for justice!

fox5's abby theodros has the story. seven years have gone by since karen brill kelley has held her son aric in her arms karen brill kelley, mother: there are no more memories for us to make. all our life i spent making good memories with him and now its all ended. and while she's healed some - she says she wont have closure until her son's killer is brought to justice. it's why she recently made the decision to put her house up for sale and use the money as a reward. brill: our family is offering a 100 thousand dollar reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the shooter. it was february of 2009 when suspected gang members attacked 16 year old aric brill and his friends at a house party. someone shot brill in the back of his head. a friend of his survived being shot 4 times. mike blonquist lives accross the street from where the party was and called 911 that fateful night. mike blonquist,911 caller: they were all over the place. the cop was holding aric in his

five confirmed cases in new york. fox news correspondent laura ingle has more from new york. the zika virus is spreading explosively and time is running out to contain it... that's the word from the world health organization... warning on thursday that the virus has already spread to more than 20 countries - and the number of cases could top four million by the end of the year. chan says: "we need to take actions now, whatever we can do in terms of vector control, environmental control, every member of the something." espinal says: "that's the important first lesson: if we can control the vehicle, we can minimize the impact" the outbreak is largely in latin american countries, but, the c-d-c says there are at least 31 cases here in the u-s... the good news - all of those cases are travel-related - and there's been no transmission within the u-s so far. schuchat says: "we don't have outbreaks of local transmission in the
