teacher openings in clark county schools. the district says the governors move will bring in at least 30 new teachers next week alone... with this move teachers with licenses in other states who were turned away before for not being licensed in nevada will now be able to teach full time. they will have a one year period to fulfill their licensing requirements from the time they're hired... before these teachers were turned away or forced into a waiting period while they met nevada's requirements for licensing. some would work as subsitute teachers during this period, they will now be able to work full time... the school district says while this will allow teachers without nevada licenses into classrooms, it will not affect the quality of the teachers clark county will be taking. "were completely supportive of any kind of measure that helps us find more qualified teachers and hire them... but we are not interested in the least in any thing that reduces the quality of the teacher that we hire. "

the downtown las vegas events center will host its first ever "big game bash". a massive 20,000- square-foot tent will be set up at the outdoor venue... with stadium seating.... and giant high-def television screens. there will also be food and drink specials... and special guests from las vegas radio stations. marinello school of beauty closed two locations in las vegas on thursday. one is near bonanza and nellis... and the other near sunset and mountain vista. the department of education says investigators found violations at the school... like knowingly requesting federal aid for students based on invalid high school diplomas... and charging students for excessive overtime. more than two- hundred students are affected by the closures. "i've actually cried a couple times cuz its like why us out of 111 years, its ridiculous. were just coping everyone is sad we'll just have to wait." marinello says the department withheld funds from students for two months... and would not let the institution respond to quote "unfounded allegations" by the department. the school says it's working on partnerships with other schools to help students complete their courses. there will be

friday to give students more information. the lights surrounding the iconic "welcome to fabulous las vegas sign" are shining red. it's to raise awareness for women at risk of heart disease. the "american heart assocation"... dignity health saint rose dominican... and clark county commissioners flipped the light switch. organizers say heart disease kills one woman every eighty seconds nationwide. they hope the "go red for women" campaign will promote the importance of healthy eating and daily exercise. "my husband grandmother passed away at early age and his family has always been aware of healthy hearts. and try very hard to keep good eating and exercise regime. they know they lost her sooner than needed to because of heart disease." commissioners say several businesses and resorts on the strip will change their marquees to red to bring attention to heart disease.

captures the terrifying moment - a crane collapsed - and fell off a building in new york city. one person was killed... and several others were injured. in the video you can see the crane slowly moving down... then suddenly speed up - hit the buildings and crash on top of several parked cars in lower manhattan. officials say workers were trying to bring the crane down because of wind gusts - when it toppled over. officals say the crane was up to date on paperwork - and passed all inspections - including one just yesterday. andrew spencer has more on the investigation - to figure out what went wrong. investigators in new york are trying to figure out why a crane collapsed in lower manhattan friday morning. the fallen crane stretched more than a block.
