police say a man was shot inside a sams town hotel room early this morning.... and it was an accident. they say four men where in the room when the gun accidently went off around 1-40 a- m. the victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. officers are looking for the man who fired the gun to ask him exactly what happened. police say they will wait to get more information before filing any charges. metro police opened a new area command station to serve the western portion

the spring valley area command will be staffed with 101 officers serving 31 square miles. it will cover charelston to flamingo and from the i- 15 towards red rock. metro says neighbors who live in the area will have faster response times and more officer engagement. "you will see an uptick in the response time to calls when they call 911 or 311 to get officers out there. plus our officers are being engaged on a regular basis so our goal is not to respond to calls our goal is to prevent the calls before they happen. and that's exactly what we did today by opening this area command. metro says this area command desperately needed its own area command. a warehouse fire destroyed hundreds of backpacks meant for children with autism last week. now local organizations are stepping in to help replace them. clark county fire department's charity and the galleria at sunset donated dozens of backpacks and thousands worth of supplies. the filled backpacks were given to the foundation today.

"performance builders incorporated" fox5's adam herbets has been investigating the case... and today he checked into the construction company's history. john/ christine at this point it's too early to say whether there were osha violations in this case... but today when we took a look at the company's history... we found instances of serious violations in the past.

where osha stepped in and investigated performance builders inc. in six of those cases -- the cases were closed and the company wasn't fined for any reason... but in the other three, investigators found multiple instances of "serious violations." in fact -- the last time they were investigated was just a few months ago... when osha determined the company had serious violations... which appears to be related to the scaffolding. now of course -- as soon as we found that out -- we asked to that case -- just to see if there were any similarities between that case and what happened last week in tivoli village. osha said they're not releasing the specifics at this time... but they might be able to release it to us later this week... so stay tuned for that. another organization we talked to today was the union that represents construction workers... and when we asked them about this company, they said it has a little bit of a reputation. so we sat down with frank hawk -- he's an administrator with the carpenters union
