first day of classes -- but there was even more chaotic when a ccsd police officer arrested a woman right in front of the school. this is video shot by a parent... he told me that the woman was maced and thrown to the ground by the officer in front of dozens of students and parents. a clark county school district police lt. told me that the woman was stopped for a traffic violation and was uncooperative with the officer...but parents still have more questions. "thats not serving the public to do this sort of thing to somebodys mom and making a public spectacle of a woman and there's two schools of thought she deserved it she didn't follow directions, but how were those directions delivered, what was the process and how was it recieved?" ccsd police said the officer followed procedure and there isn't any investigation into

program called "party smart." it's a violence prevention campaign aimed at making nightlife here safer for everyone. party smart has two parts. the first part is raising awareness... encouraging party goers to prevent sexual violence by being active bystanders. arrive together, stick together, leave together is the mantra they want everyone to remember. part two is a training program for bars and nightclubs that gives them specific strategies to keep everyone safe. "its only by coming together and helping people look at the behavior they're seeing looking at it through a lense of there's something not quite right going on here. " uber is also partnering with the campaign. uber is also partnering with the campaign. starting tomorrow and running through the 5th... uber will donate 5 dollars from each ride to the rape crisis center. and of course... something to just be extra cautious about...women 18 to 24 experience the highest rates of sexual violence... so just be aware of your surroundings this weekend and stick together.

a teenager was killed three years ago... after two men tried to steal his ipad. today... a jury found one of those suspects guilty for his death. "michael solid" was convicted on robbery, murder, and conspiracy charges. investigators say he and "jacob dismont" tried to rob 15-year-old "marcos arenas." the boy held onto his ipad, and police he and "jacob dismont" tried to rob 15-year-old "marcos arenas." the boy held onto his ipad, and police say the suspects ended up running him over with their car. nevada highway patrol says "shawn peckham" is the name of the trooper whose badge may have saved his life... after a shooting last week. the shooting happened last friday, on boulder highway just south of the 95.

sedan for an improper license plate display. a passenger in the back of the car took off. n-h-p says trooper peckham chased that suspect, and gave him verbal commands to stop. the department confirms the suspect fired first at the trooper, and hit his badge. that is when trooper peckham fired back and killed the suspect. the coroner says the suspect was 41-year-old matthew gibbon, and he died from a gunshot wound to the head. this sounds like a story you would see in a crime drama. a suspect may be on the run here in nevada... after faking his own death! texas police are looking for "charles rodger edgell." he's wanted for a sexual assault case there.. police say edgell called 9-1-1, and told police he wanted to die. they found his car the next day with his will inside. but cadaver dogs could not find his body. it turned out edgell was very much alive, and here in nevada. he tried to use a dead man's social security information, to get a driver's license in the silver state.

realized what he was up to, and called him out. edgall took off, and police have not found him yet. a small plane crashed into an r-v park in sparks... as it made its way to the reno tahoe international aiport. the pilot and a passenger were killed. no one on the ground was hurt. the f-a-a does not know why the plane crashed. we're told it hit the ground nose first, and caught fire. that fire spread to trailers and other vehicles. the park was temporarily evacuated, but most people are now back in their homes. president obama is spending the day at lake tahoe. he is focusing on the environment... and as we found out, it's his first trip to the mountain lake! it's special to stand on the shores of lake tahoe. i'v enever been here before. it's not like i didn't want to come! no one invited me, i didn't have a place to stay. now that i got here, i'm gonna come back!"

"i almost started to cry cause it just hit me home. i have six kids." (sarah mazzone/helped rescue the baby) "i just did what i think anyone would hopefully do." brown was arrested, after a standoff with police that lasted hours. he's out of jail today, and his lawyer says he will prove the charges against him are false. brown is accused of threatening a woman inside his home with a gun. the woman told police she got in an argument with brown, and he pointed a gun at her and told her to leave. the woman also says brown's staff tried to get non-disclosure agreement about the whole situation. police tried for hours to get into brown's home yesterday the grammy singer used some of that time to vent on twitter about the situation. "it's so inappropriate its mindblowing, its disturbing, this is somebody's mom getting manhandled right in front of her kids" he told me this isn't the first time he's seen the officer get aggressive... he said last year the officer stopped him after making a u-turn outside of the school. "he was a total jerk, very in my face an ccsd police would not go on camera about monday's arrest, saying it's still an open case.... but a lt. with the department told me the woman was pulled over for a traffic violation and would not cooperate with police. he said suspects dictate the amount of force used...and in this case -- that force was appropriate. the lt told me the officer followed procedure, and there's no investigation into the incident. but parents who saw the arrest
