fox5's abby theodros joins us live with the latest... she spoke to robinson's mom who is in disbelief. this picture of perez is making the rounds as police desperately search for him. a man they say is dangers. today we were there when robinson's mom saw this picture for the first time... (hands phone/picture to kn) katra nestor: so this is the guy (picture of alonso perez) katra nestor: wow katra nestor is suspected killer for the first time. katra nestor: his character doesn't show much. nestor is talking about alonso perez. he was arrested yesterday in connection with the shooting death of her son 31 year old son muhamad robinson. hours later...he broke free from his handcuffs and took off from the north las vegas detective bureau and stole a truck from a business five miles away. while police search - nestor hopes he doesnt hurt someone else. katra nestor: he is running scared.

anyone with information on the whereabouts of perez was urged las vegas police department that number is on our website. or crime stoppers at 702- 385-5555. this isn't the first time this year somebody has gotten away from the police. back in april.... a suspect escaped from metro's custody... and was on the run for more than two weeks. officers had arrested ivan mayoral for stealing a car on april 8th. very similar to this recent case -- during booking -- he was able to free himself from handcuffs, walk

and leave the building without anyone noticing. mayoral was eventually caught on april 24th after a long standoff with police. one person has been injured in an earthquake that hit more than half a dozen states in the middle of our country. scientists say the epicenter was in pawnee, oklahoma... but people in seven states could feel it. the earthquake was a magnituide 5.6... and six buildings are now uninhabitable because of the damage. one homeowner suffered minor injuries, but he is already out of the hospital. "(mayor brad sewell, pawnee, ok): "our emergency manager is out looking at things, we have our fire department here, we've got a lot of assistance from emergency crews from surrounding towns, we are very fortunate to have good relationships with them, and they're just doing their best to ascertain what damage we've got." the earthquake was also felt in kansas, iowa, texas, missouri, nebraska and arkansas. gusty winds and lower temperatures are making their way into the valley. meteorologist

from last week has been ruled as an accident... not murder. the clark county coroner identified the victim as 19- year-old javante stockard. police say he was found near lake mead and m-lk with a gunshot wound. and that it was just one of two deadly shootings on thursday night. he was taken to u-m-c where he later died. police say... they interviewed the person who fired the gun before determining that it was an accident. a woman is facing fraud charges after police say she pretended to collect money for a fallen firefighter. police say krystle holmes, in vermont, was asking for cash donations for the family of justin beebe.... a vermont fire fighter who died last month. beebe was battling a wildfire in the great basin national park here in nevada. now 31-year-old holmes is facing seven counts of fraud and one count of providing false information to a police officer. she is scheduled to appear in court next month.

rescued by a good samaritan from a sinking boat near the coronado islands in mexico today. the u-s coast guard in san diego heard the call for help around 5 a-m that the vessel crashed into rocks and the crew started deploying life rafts. coast guard officials transmitted an urgent call that was heard by a commercial fishing vessel. the "sweet marie" diverted their path to save the 21 passengers and five crew members and take them back to u-s shores. marijuana growers are looking to be more energy efficient. growing weed can be expensive... n-v energy says power used on one marijuana farm is the same as powering about three thousand homes. right now state law requires growers to keep plants locked up and out of sight from the outside. the nevada medical marijuana associations says energy costs as high as 70 thousand dollars were a big wake up call to push for greater efficiency. president obama is praising harry reid's place in history as the senator gets closer to retirement.
