breaking news in anthem tonight where police are investigating a murder-suicide. i'm adam herbets -- in for john huck. i'm christine maddela. fox5's miguel martinez valle is live near the scene in a neghborhood off of anthem highlands drive in the far south end of the community. i'm here on blythswood street in a neighborhood in anthem where police found two people dead inside their home after a family member called to request a welfare check i just spoke to michelle french from the henderson police department she told me this happened around 6 o'clock today that's when police were called in as you can see with the crime tape and the lights they are still here investigating but they say this seems to be a murder suicide she says inside the home a man and a woman probably in their thirties or

gunshot wounds . they say this seems to be domestic related and their are no outstanding suspects . no one else was home at the time. we hear from neighbors the couple could have had a child but police say they don't know that information for sure and no one else was in the home. neighbors also told us this wasn't the first time police were called to this house. the corner will be releasing their names at a future point and of course i'll be out here bringing you updates for the remainder of ffn ll closed captioning

also breaking tonight .. a scary crash leads to north las vegas police shutting down a busy eastside road. here's a better look at the scene from our traffic camera. the crash is on the eastbound side of lake mead at civic center. police say a woman was walking across lake mead when a motorcycle hit her. she has been rushed to the hospital with life threatening injuries. the motorcycle rider has minor injuries. that portion of lake mead has been closed since 8:30. what should have been a fun hike on mount charleston over the weekend... ended in a hospital visit for a local family when their 6- year-old daughter broke her arm. the girl's name is kai. and this story isn't as much about her broken arm as it is about the random act of kindness she received. earlier tonight .. fox5's miguel

police interrogation room. investigators think he shot and killed a man, and that's why they were questioning him... until something went wrong. when detectives left perez alone in that room, he broke out of handcuffs and escaped. perez is still on the run... and now we know more about his past here in the valley. (nats- fox5 newscast alonso perez escaped police custody) i was blown away, just amaing it was same guy on the news is the one that had opened shots on the office louis scott called fox5 recognized alonso perez when we aired his picture and the story of his escape from police custody. (nats- fox5 newscast he also has an air jordan tattoo on the left side of his neck ) scott runs the peterson motel and apartments in northeast las vegas. scott tells us perez and his girlfriend lived there for a few weeks this summer. one day they got into a fight, and perez left. she came in, said he was crazy and may be coming back around this area. then, on july 25, scott tells us perez shot at him. take a look at the surveillance video: he comes pulling

scott tells us perez and his girlfriend got out of the jeep, fighting and yelling at each other. i told them they're not going to bring their argument into my office, i was on this side of the door scott told them to come back when they're done fighting. they walk off, then... turns around his gun jams right here, jams again, i'm able to get away, now he starts shooting, reloads, fixes the problem here, when we take a closer look at perez from this angle... we can see the gun firing. if this bullet here wouldn't have hit the desk, it would have come into me right here one, two, three... pop, pop pop scott said at least nine bullets hit the building. he's probably one of the most dangerous persons on the street right now (double box) scott says he knows this man who shot at him is the same man who escaped from north las vegas detectives. when we asked the police, they told us they did investigate the incident scott described, but wouldn't confirm

for most people -- labor day is a time to relax and enjoy the day off. but for some -- like us -- it's just another day at work. fox five's kathleen jacob stopped in to check out the big labor day business boost at some spots. nobody's union here so those are the folks that are off today i think. the labor folks... because labor day was for the labor unions i believe. jonathan vitt is it all started with the unions... but now... it's expanded much further than just those workers... americans all around the country...have the day off to celebrate. "i'm very grateful because it allows us to have the opportunity to spend time with our family." but... there are those select few places where labor day is just another day on the job. "making fantastic chicken for everybody in henderson who's not working today, laying by the pool." the chicken shack doesn't close its doors... in fact... they had a line all day. it seems to be just

here in las vegas. restaurants aren't the only ones that don't take a break. cowabunga bay sees one of it's busiest days of the season today. every holiday people come in and they're all happy because they're like 'oh my gosh, it's a waterpark. we're all together." so we get like the friendliest customers and it's just so fun to work with everyone. the waterpark has about 28 hundred visitors today... so they have more than 120 employees working hard on this holiday. i don't work all day, there's still stuff to do at night. so i love these families have fun and being part of that experience for them to make it more fun for them. and it's those hard workers that family's like the croppers appreciate the most. thanks for working so we can play. thanks for working hard. i know its probably time they want to spend with their families but we really appreciate it, so thank you. and it was a good time to take a trip during the labor day weekend. gas prices dropped to the lowest levels in 12 years! that's according to a report by the u-s energy information administration. the national

gallon of regular was two dollars and 21 cents today. that's 20 cents cheaper than this time last year. the reports show the average u-s household is expected to save an extra 320 dollars. and it will be easier for tesla owners to take a trip to the "happiest place on earth". tesla unveiled eight new supercharger stalls about seven miles north of disneyland off of interstate five. the charging stations are in front of tesla's showroom service center in buena park. right now -- tesla drivers traveling between los angeles and orange county have to stop at the fountain valley supercharger -- which is usually congested. tesla says this gives tesla owners another option. no word yet on when the new superchargers will officially open. families all over the valley spent their day off from school and work at sunset park. family and friends enjoyed the nice weather by biking around the trails and barbequeing at the picnic areas. of course there was also plenty of fishing going

and women got to celebrate labor day with unlimited soup... salad... and breadsticks. for the 15-th year in a row... "olive garden" stopped by emergency rooms.... police stations and fire stations all over the valley-- to serve up free food. the restaurant chain does this every labor day to thank first responders for their dedication and service in the community. more than 800 olive gardens in the country participated. "for all of their service, their hard work. we had no idea of how many hours they actually put in in a work day. the captain was just telling us they basically got no sleep even from last night because of all the emergency calls." olive garden has delivered over ten thousand free meals to first responders since they started the tradition back in 2002. a single mom didn't want her son to sit out a "donuts with dad" event -- so she dressed up for

this is yvette vasquez from forth worth -- with her son elijah. she sported a fake mustache... baseball cap... plaid shirt... and even a spray of cologne. yevette says she didn't want her son to miss out... since he has had to miss school activities involving dads. yvette said many of the other dads supported her dressing up. in a facebook post she wrote... louis home. schlafly was a prominent anti- feminist leader and early leader of the social conservative movement. she also led the pro-family advocacy group "eagle forum". schlafly threw her support behind donald trump's presidential campaign. trump called her a conservative icon who led millions to action and reshaped the conservative movement. schlafly was 92 years old. an actor known for his role in television's first adult western has passed away. hugh o-brian died at his home in beverly hills today... according to a representative of one of his organizations. o-brian became a star for playing "sheriff wyatt earp" in 19-55. the t-v western was based on a real-life western hero.... and some of its stories were authentic. o'brian was 91 years old. a community is devastated after police say a woman vandalized a memorial to a fallen officer. flowers and stuffed animals were scatttered around the memorial... and signs were torn down.

created in new mexico for officer daniel webster -- who was shot and killed. it was supposed to be a place for other officers to visit their friend... and a place for his widow to mourn. police say 40- year-old jennifer otte targeted the memorial this past weekend... and that when officers confronted her... she threatened them with a knife. "this is very sacred ground, i think for the city, for michele, for dani himself. it's disappointing that something like that would happen." "that's like going to a graveyard almost and destroying stuff there. yeah, i just don't think it's right." the woman is now facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. police say unfortunately something like this has happened in the past... especially at their substations. the presidential nominees stayed busy this labor day. donald trump and hillary clinton were out on the campaign trail... along with their running mates. fox's mike emanuel found out which two men in hillary's corner are taking shots at trump this time. the presidential candidates working

"my understanding, at least, is that is he's exercising his constitutional right to make a statement. i think there's a long history of sports figures doing so." plays 400 holes of golf in one day -- to raise money for active duty military and fallen soldiers. jimmy mcmullen of the salem glen country club played all day and night -- using glow in the dark balls. to make his goal -- he could only spend about three minutes at each hole. his wife and kids brought him food and water to help him through. mcmullen is a retired police officer... and wanted to give back to military families. the money will give scholarships to children of fallen and injur soldiers. "there's so many great veterans who are police officers right now." "what the police do and what the military do is just unbelievable to me." "if i can do something to help a serviceman's family, that's what it's all about." mcmullen hopes to donate five- thousand dollars. coming up... which areas could be hit next... even though the hurricane is now just a tropical storm. even as hermine weakens, tropical storm warnings remain in effect across the northeast... bellone says: "in a situation like this, where we have seen one storm after another ...we are going to err on the side of caution and public safety." with wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour expected... governors along the eastern seaboard announced emergency preparations. of beach closures because of dangerous surf and rip currents... but some still chose to celebrate labor day on the shore. mos says: "we love the wind we love to see the storm" nearly a week after hermine slammed into florida, more than 30-thousand residents are still without power. the storm system also drenching dozens of communities in the carolina's and neighboring virginia since friday... now, hermine is crawling past long island, towards connecticut, rhode island and
