killer escaped from police, and we asked officers what they're going to do to prevent it from happening again. fox5s miguel martinez valle is live at the north las vegas detective bureau to show us how alonso perez got out in the first place. perez escaped from this police station. he was in handcuffs, the door was locked, there were police officers throughout the building and surveillance cameras were rolling., but he still got out. now we know how. nlvpd: "he was placed in an interview room and handcuffed to a table" this is the survll inside the interrogation room. alonso perez twisted the handcuffs until they broke. "i asked my assistant chief. who's been around for 30 and he never had any recollection of any situations like this one" bridge: "perez was handcuffed to a table just like this one he used his bodyweight to twist the handcuffs until they gave out to cheer you can use the chair to get on top and climb through the roof" he took off, and stole a truck from a nearby business. nlvpd: "he wasn't seen by us but he made it to the vehicle which were talking about 100 feet

it took north las vegas police officers 40 minutes to realize perez was gone... alexander perez, nlvpd "understand that we are very aware that mistakes were made " it then took 4 days for an fbi task force to find him... derrinca diaz, " he was taken into custody right here with an suv and then right after that there was a couple under covers three undercover officers here and a police officer here" nlvpd "i wish it hadn't happened but it did and now we take steps to ensure it doesn't happen again" so we asked north las vegas police what they're going to do about it. "someone will be monitoring the interrogation room at all times. when someone's in custody or an interview we're working on a live feed to each desk as well but we have a viewing room" perez is accused of killing mohommad robinson. today i also spoke to his family. you'll hear from them at 10:30.

least two suspects in a deadly shooting in the northwest valley police were called to an apartment complex near torrey pines and smoke ranch around 6:15 tuesday night. when they arrived they found two men--- one inside a car... and another laying on the ground near the car. the men were shot multiple times-- they were taken to u-m-c where they died.... four businesses.... were robbed by three masked men early this morning. the men barged

" the red cross is assisting some of the families affected by the fire. construction is in full swing on the lucky droago resort just west of the strip on sahara. when completed - the property will focus on everything asian - right down ot the last detail. fox 5 is the only local station given a site tour with the progress. kevin bolinger gives us an inside look. kevin: work is on the lucky dragon as they get ready for their december opening. right now we're in the casino area. you can see the pagoda in themiddle of the room. above that will be a 1 1/4 ton glass dragon. it was made overseas and is currently on a boat being shipped over here to the states. it will hang from the ceiling to the top of the pagoda. this is asian themed all the way. nats of saw the sounds represent another resort property - but the eventual sights inside lucky

vegas has seen. dave jacoby/lucky dragon chief operating officer: a lot of the resorts on the strip do a very good job of dedicating a small subsection of their property to asian play, but nobody has built anything yet from the ground up to really show face to these players and provde a building that was really built for them. every last detail is done in line with asian architecture and traditions in mind - going so far as bringing in a feng shui master and hisring a staff that will be fluent in several languages. and if you're looking for a hamburger or slice of pizza - forget about it...all of the dining options will cater to asian cuisine. dave jacoby/lucky dragon chief operating officer: we have five different restaurants on property ranging from grab and go, kind of street food to fine dining. dim sum, we'll have a team somallier, an indoor/outdoor tea garden. owners secured financing to get the project up and running earlier this year. when completed it will have 203 rooms....and a gaming design that puts a focus on bacharat and pai gow with limited western style games like black jack.

climbing through the roof of this building and stealing a truck... katra nestor, victims mother "you're joking. how could he be in a room with police custody and get out?" when katra nestor heard the man suspected of killing her son had escaped... she couldn't believe it... alfonso perez escaped friday. police didn't call nestor until ??? to confirm what she heard. three astronauts are back on earth.... after spending almost three months in space. the crew landed in kazakhstan this morning. the crew ... a u-s astronaut and two russian cosmonauts ... were on a 172 day mission on the international space station-- studying how the human body fares during longer stays in space. an asteroid-- taller than the empire state building is getting a visitor from nasa tomorrow. nasa is sending a space probe to the asteroid bennu-- it's the first visitor in billions of years. the robotic probe will fly to the ancient asteroid - and it will scout it out for two years before scooping up some gravel and dust to be brought back to earth. in all-- the mission will take seven years. heavy storms in southwest wisconsin cause flash flooding... and mudslides. the mudslide in
