thanks for joining us for your only local news at 5:30. let's get you up to date with the latest local headlines. a shootout in kingman arizona - ends with one man dead and a police officer shot. it happened while police were trying to execute a search warrant. police say the officer who was shot was taken to a hospital, underwent surgery and is in serious but stable condition tonight. they also identified the man who was killed as 53 year old jeffery clair cave he was pronounced dead here at the scene. police tell us the shootout started at 9:30 a-m... when police came to a home to search for stolen property. they say cave shot at the officers hitting one of them. they returned fire - and cave was shot and killed. this investigation is being handled by bullhead city since it is an officer involved shooting.

a man sought for questioning by police - runs off into freeway traffic - where he's hit and killed by tractor- trailer. it happened around 11-30 this morning - on u-s 95... near the flamingo exit. metro says detectives investigating a shooting from last week - wanted to talk to the man - but he failed to stop for a marked patrol car. he then got out - and ran on the freeway. u-s 95 was closed in both directions following the crash. police believe the man may have a connection to a shooting that occurred one week ago today - at the mir trailer park on boulder highway. arrested and released only to be rebooked. today we spoke to the nye county sheriff about the woman suspected of driving drunk and causing a deadly crash in pahrump. nye county police say ashley winn failed to stop at a stop sign at around 4 am saturday morning.. and crashed into a car with two people inside. the passenger died and the driver had to be airlifted to the hospital. winn was also taken to the hospital... and later arrested. but at 8pm the

was fully booked... pahrump justice court of the peace kent jasperson released own on her own recognizance. "we got a call about 1 in the morning that he made the decision to revoke the or and about 6 he made that formally and by 9 o'clock she came into the office this was all 1 am 6am 9 am? yes" the subject of winn's arrest and release made many question whether or not she was given preferential treatment. the pahrump valley times reports winn and a sheriff's deputy have a child together... and that the child's grandfather is former undersheriff rick marshall. marshall denied that claim. on tuesday morning, the justice of the peace reduced winn's bond to $50-dollars. a new traffic light is helping control traffic at blue diamond and el capitan. the light's signals were activated early this morning. the traffic light is part of a two- point-four million dollar project to

for everyone. more than 42 thousand cars travel on blue diamond every day. and as the mountain edge area grows, more cars will be using these roads. the road is know for having a long history of crashes - and pedestrian collisions. here's an example from just this morning. a crash happened right down the street from the new light - at blue diamond and decatur. police say a car plowed into the back of a las vegas paving hauler. one person had minor injuries. a sizeable dip in casino action on the strip in nevada gaming revenue ... to drop five percent. that's in compared to the same month a year before... according to the nevada gaming control board. the state's casinos won just 861-million in august. revenue on the strip fell 15 percent year- over-year... to $450 million. downtown winnings notched up 7 percent to $43 million. reno casino revenue stayed virtually flat at $51 million. south lake tahoe revenue rose 27 percent to $24 million in august.

this year - and even though the game iusn't until december 17th....it's nearing a sell out. this afternoon at the hard rock - a luncheon was held to get local business leaders more involved in the game. 86 percent of the tickets have already been sold even though the two teams playing in the game won't be decided until early december. former nfl star running back and las vegas native steven jackson - who played in the bowl game while at oregon state told us why this game is always sought after. steven jackson: surrounding area, the city comes out to support and the players come out and play big time for the game because it's the entertainment capital of the world, it's a big stage for them. john saccenti: you know it doesn't matter who's playing in the game because it's so much more than the game. it's about the experience and experiencing the magic of bowl season. the bowl also announced three new members to their hall of fame - broadcaster brent musberger....runni ng back marshawn lynch and one of the founding fathers of the bowl - rob dondero.

the centers for disease control and prevention recommends everyone six months and older get the seasonal vaccine.. and they are hoping the absence of the nasal mist vaccine won't deter people from getting protected from this virus. frieden says: " the nasal spray is no longer recommended we don't know why but the vaccine efficacy data for the last couple of years suggests that it was not protective.. the flu can affect any one at any time.. but it can be particularly hard on young childre and older adults. the c-d-c says last year's vaccination estimates show inoculation rates remained steady among children.. but their was a drop in coverage among older adults. frieden says: "there are 30 million kids this is the group most likely to get the flu but spread it as well. for older adults we're concerned we saw about a three percent decrease in flu vaccination rates in both the 50-64's and also the 65 and over." health experts emphasize the best way to prevent this
