weekend. bike fest brought thousands of bikers to town. they were here to check out the latest motorcycle trends... entertainment and competitions. the celebration comes after we've seen at least three deadly motorcycle accidents this week. fox5's abby theodros joins us live from fremont and 8-th street. she talked with about safety out on the roads. abby? a lot of the people i talked with today are long time riders and they tell me while you cant predict what happens on the road - there are a few things you can do to stay safe. nats candice: 10s of thousands of riders from all over the world. nats and theyre all here for the same reason.... christopher steen, las vegas: the bikes, all the people and all the vendors, its a good time. its the 16th annual bike fest in las vegas. this time nearly 40 thousand

family members say they went into the river--- but the daughter didn't come out of the water. after forty minutes of searching... they reached out to police. a family member tells us she was cut by barbed wire... and struggled through thick mud and rough currents during the search. police confirmed the woman was found just a few hours later. one person is dead and another is behind bars-- after a crash on the i-15 early this morning. police say a lexus lost control and hit a harley. it happened near russell...just after four a-m. the biker was taken to u-m-c... where he later died. police say the driver of the lexus was arrested on suspicion of d-u-i. traffic was diverted in the area all morning. an elderly man is fighting for his life... after he was stabbed this morning. police got a call about a fight... near main street and foremaster lane. officers found the man... who was stabbed in the head. he was taken to

he's not expected to survive. witnesses pointed out a female suspect in the crowd... and she was taken into custody. the 30 year-old woman faces one count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon. red rock canyon got a well- deserved clean up this morning. it was part of a stewardship project hosted by the national conservation lands. nearly three hundred volunteers helped out-- by installing signs... cleaning up litter... and fixing up popular trails. dozens of nevada representatives... community and tribal leaders from around the country... were there to lend a hand. "this is the friends rendezvouz. it happens every 18 months and its a chance for 60 groups from around the west to all get together. " the project was part of a 3-day conference for grassroots leaders... and advocates for national conservation lands. homeowners living near a gravel pit--- are fighting it's expansion into a

people living near desert inn and spring mountain... held a protest this afternoon. the wells cargo processing plant produces asphalt... sand and gravel. neighbors say it creates large amounts of fine dust... and toxic smells in the air. the group is working to have independent air quality studies performed in the area. "we're trying to block the varience in hopes of getting some relief." . we can't afford to just let this go. i mean it's our open our doors. we can't open our windows. we can't go into our backyards without smelling tar. the expansion plan was approved at a townhall meeting-- even though homeowners opposed it. imagine getting charged nearly 10-grand for a tank of gas. how it happened to one woman in florida. country music fans kick the dust up-- on the las vegas strip.

las vegas has gone country--- as country music fans take over the strip this weekend. thousands strapped on their boots and daisy dukes... for the 'route 91 harvest country music festival'. like brad paisley... toby keith and martina mcbride hit the stage. the three-day concert kicked off friday... at the las vegas village across from the luxor. the festvial is wrapping up right now-- as luke bryan takes the stage for the last performance of the night. imagine getting charged nearly ten thousand dollars for a tank of gas. a woman in florida says it happened to her husband after he filled up his car. as lisa greenberg reports... it took the couple a while to get

susan gower's husband stopped at this valero gas station in north fort myers on may 5th, like he's done many times before. (susan gower, charged almost $10,000 for gas): "he filled his car up, maybe $20 worth or something like that. he used his credit card." they tried to use the card the next day, but were over their credit limit. when gower checked her account, she saw this number -- 9949 dollars and 36 cents - charged from this valero gas station. (susan gower, charged almost $10,000 for gas): "it was just shocking." looking at the receipt from valero, she saw the pump charged her for more than 27- thousand gallons of gas. she immediately went to the bank, canceling her card. (susan gower, charged almost $10,000 for gas): "the bank just said 'get with valero, have them reverse the charges.' very simple," she says the manager told her it wasn't possible. two weeks later, after getting valero customer service involved, gower's account was credited back the money. she was relieved but frustrated with the owner of that station's lack of customer service. week. the latest crash happened early this morning. fox5's abby theodros joins us live near 8th and fremont--- with more on what police are saying about the rise in deadly crashes police tell me they see a spike in both motorcycle and car accidents in the fall when i asked them why - they told me the weather is cooler and people are spending more time outside. i talked with metro sgt strader who deadly crash scenes in las vegas for six and a half years...take a listen to what he had to say. richard strader: "we have halloween kicking off right at the end of this month and then thanksgiving and all the holiday seasons and so we start seeing all these people drinking and driving and making bad bad decisions." just this week las vegas saw three motorcycle related deaths.
