redskins may have lost one battle in the controversy over their name. the supreme court announced today it would not take up the appeal by the n-f-l team to keep its federal trademark protections. the u-s patent and trademark office canceled six of the football team's registrations. the government says the law that governs trademarks prevents registration of so-called disparaging trademarks... and some native american groups say the name is offensive. without a trademark registration-- the redskins would no longer have the right to exclusive nationwide use of the mark. the pentagon is honoring active duty military olympians and paralympians today. defense secretary ash carter welcomed nearly two dozen athletes and coaches at the pentagon courtyard. some won medals

a former marine accused of running over a man and firing gunshots at his children appeared in court today. "walter laak" looked over at our camera several times during his hearing. his lawyers are asking for more time in this case, and the judge re- set his hearing for next month. police say laak and the victim got in an argument over a parking spot, and a week later, laak ran over the victim with his car. the victim also apartment windows. detectives say laak suffers from post traumatic stress disorder, and he believes he is being followed by the f-b-i. an arizona man created technology that could help revolutionize border security. fox's kevin adger has the details on the "seidarm" system. (on cam standup) adger says: "i am here along the arizona mexico border. we just talked to a local man who says he can change the way the border is secured and how it is

a trench along the border fence." spencer says: "it's called seidarm, this stands for seismic detection and ranging mechanism." glen spencer is the man behind this technology. he started the process 13 years ago as a way to keep count of the number of people crossing the border. six years ago. he had his first demonstration of the technology for a group of law makers. spencer says: "if it was installed on the entire border we would be able to count-- especially if we havdr everybody that crosses the border and it can be live, as you saw." the technology has a similar concept to radar and sonar. the line comes in five mile sections and can be placed in the ground as deep as ten feet. it's solar powered and can detect, animals, low flying air craft and people. so any movement within 500 feet from the sensor line -- there's an alert. spencer can then send a drone out and capture the movement and recorded it live. it can be done at night and even in the rain.

manatees were rescued over the weekend in the florida keys. and it was all caught on camera. the animals were taken to safety sunday after their mother was found dead. according to the dolphin research center... the rescue was done with the florida wish and wildlife conservative commission. the babies were then taken to the miami seaquarium for wellness tests before before being released back into the wild. animals are running wild on roadways around the country. why this lamb put up such a fight... not once... but twice! i think my strongest asset, maybe by far, is my temperament.
