closed captioning will resume shortly state lawmakers are are in to carson city this week-- for the special session on n-f-l stadium funding. the special session started this morning. governor b sandoval called lawmakers to the state capitol-- to approve or deny public funding for a proposed one- point nine billion dollar stadium. lawmakers also have to consider approving funding to expand the las vegas convention center. october is breast cancer awareness month... and the susan g komen foundation wants you to watch out for fake donation scammers. the foundation says a number of businesses have been contacted by women looking to collect funds.... or place donation boxes outside businesses. they say the caller does not give a name or

and number.... or the number to the susan g komen headquarters in dallas. the foundation says they do not use donation boxes except at events with a foundation representative. a new exhibit in utah tells the story of nevada's nuclear testing... and the downwind effect of the people impacted. the downwinders of utah archive in salt lake city includes stories... maps and statistics from the testing in the fiftys and sixtys. photos show crowds of people watching huge mushroom clouds of smoke. the goal of the exhibit is to educate future generations about the radioactive fallout. many believe the nuclear testing led to a rise in cancer for those living downwind. it turns out less than half of nevada students are considered proficient in reading... according to common core standards. only about one third of students are hit that mark in math. the department of education released these results... on the 20-16 smarter balanced assessments. the tests are

eighth grade. education officals say the results show new investments in english language learners are paying off. the clark county school district is starting off "national school lunch" week by launching regular tours of their facility. everyone's invited from students and parents to teachers and faculty. the purpose is to give the public a look into what goes into making student lunches-- and give people a chance to try the new items they have cooking up. the c-c-s-d food service facility serves 240 thousand meals a day. "being in such a large district and having such a diverse population, there's a lot of food insecurities and a lot of our students, these are the two meals that their receiving on a daily bases so being able to provide those healthy foods for them is really important." the tour is totally free and last about an hour. c-c-s-d asks that you register in advance. the gloves were off for donald trump and hillary clinton sunday night at

louis. the presidential contenders participated in their second presidential debate... and it was every bit at combative as expected. emily schmidt is in st louis with more. there was no handshake between donald trump and hillary clinton sunday night in saint louis. that icy start set the tone for another contentious debate. discussion turned quickly to recently-released video of trump making lewd and sexually aggressive comments about women. donald trump/(r) presidential nominee: "certainly i'm not proud of it. but that was something that happened." hillary clinton/(d) presidential nominee: "i think it's clear it to anyone who heard it, it represents exactly who he is.") the candidates sparred on topics from foreign policy to personal temperament. and there were surprises -- like the moment trump knocked his own running-mate on the issue of syria. donald trump/(r) presidential nominee: "he and i haven't spoken and i disagree. i disagree." martha raddatz/abc news (offcam) :"you disagree with your own running mate?" donald trump/(r) presidential nominee: "i think you have to knock out isis." mike pence -- who confirmed that he is not dropping the ticket -- blamed the moderator (mike pence/(r)

both companies announcing they will stop issuing new galaxy seven devices to customers. a-t-and-t will allow users to return the phone for a different samsung model while t-mobile customers can pick a different device or receive a refund. ice cream lovers, listen up! two brands of frozen treats are being recalled today. nestle issued a voluntary recall of its drumstick ice cream cones-- the drumsticks may be contaminated with listeria. the recall includes the 16- count variety pack...and the 24- count vanilla pack. no illnesses have been reported at this time. nestle says if you have these ice creams, please don't eat them -- return them to the store you bought them from, or contact nestle consumer services for replacement. the turkey hill brand is recalling some of its ice cream after it was mislabeled. the recall affects some 48- ounce containers whose side label reads "dutch chocolate." but the packages actually contain the rocky road flavor that can trigger some food allergies. the rocky road

after hurricane matthew made its way up the coast.... officials in south carolina made an explosive discovery along state's shore. civil war cannonballs were found unearthed in folley beach near charleston. the age-old ordinance was discovered by the city's former mayor... who was walking along the beach when he spotted the rocky-looking cannonballs fused together by rust. county bomb squad and us air force officials
