throughout the day setting up tables almost 5000 journalists are here it's a crazy amount of people we have all covered big stories in our career but i don't think anyone has ever seen so many journalists under one roof and that's why there are so many precautions put in place another big part of the preparation and again this is been going on for months is everything going on with the school all of the professors now just one day before the debate are giving their tanks on what they can expect for tomorrow even though as everybody has known throughout this election cycle you really can't expect anything given these two

fox five will have special coverage before and after the debate... so join us as we break down where our battleground state stands. if you don't need to be near unlv or the thomas and mack... it might be a good idea to stay off the roads in the area. debate day means a traffic headache for commuters... as road closures are already in place. the i-15 southbound from sahara to the 2-15 eastbound through the airport connector will be closed on wednesday between fournd 10 p-m. you can also see there are some other closures on tropicana... maryland parkway... and russell road. access to and from mccarran international airport will also be affected. just like their are pros and cons to the candidates... many locals say the same is true for the actual event itself fox5's vince sapienza spoke with local businesses near u-n-l-v's campus... and how the debate is affecting their bottom line.... john..cyndi.... i'm here at

which is thee place to be during dining hours for u-n-l-v students.... most of the time you can't even find a parking spot... and with the debate many thought that business would continue to boom... instead.... for many, it's been the exact opposite.... it's lunch time here at the baja bar and grill. but the orders aren't flying in. "the day just started, but i know it's not going to be my normal, typical taco tuesday." art jong is the owner here. and has been for almost eight years. he tells me he's
5:06 pm
town and not have an uptick in business. "i think las vegas, especially unlv is lucky to have the debate, but at the same time though it does hurt us financially a little bit." art tells me normally he has to open up the bar for seating purposes on tuesdays because it gets so busy. but like inside his restaurant - it's dead. and he's not the only ones taking a loss. "you see a bunch of students, a bunch of business people at this time, looking for seating, we usually don't have seating around this time." the aloha kitchen tells me they have had to send four workers home since sunday because of how slow business has been. qot: have you guys ever had to do that before? "no, not since i've been at this location we haven't." staff tell me on a normal day they may be operating at 100-percent. but the last few days have been around 30. both staffs tell me it's because of classes being cancelled and tourists avoiding the campus in general. "usually we are the busiest here in this lot, and we've slowed down rapidly." short lines. empty seats. and plenty of parking lot are
5:07 pm
university square are not used to. "it's a bit frustrating, we're trying to figure out things to do here at work, since we have no one coming in." staff say the slow down won't cause them to close up show. but they're ready to get back to normal. "i don't plan to get rich in one day, i don't plan to get poor in one day, it's a marathon not a race." "we're hoping, waiting for things to pick up and get abck to normal, we're ready to work here at aloha kitchen." "we got bills to pay, people to serve." now despite... the lack of business so far this week.... the owners and staff i spoke with say they expect to get back to normalcy by the end of the week.... and they tell me that they will still plan to open their doors tomorrow.. hoping to find some hungry customers along the way...... near maryland and tropicana... i'm vince sapienza...fox-5 news...local...las vegas.....

"essentially, he put this two year old in bathwater that was so hot, she had third degree burns from her chin all the way to her feet. " metro says 21- year-old "demond billingsley" was watching "lyriq elaine clayton" and his own child when the incident happened. the child also had some bruises. several friends and family members were in the courtroom to support billingsly. his lawyer told a different story of what happened that day... saying this was an accident. " his own son was in that water, he took out his son, took a phone call, the water was still

hot and the accident happened. " billingsly's lawyer says he has no criminal record, and asked for house arrest. the judge set bail at 150 thousand dollars, and if billingsly gets out of bail, he will not be allowed to have unsupervised contact with kids. the next court appearance is set for november first. lyriq's family does have a go-fund-me to help pay for funeral expenses. we have that information on our website, fox5 vegas dot com. if you're a fan of flying drones around the valley... you might want to take a break this week. the new regulations set in place--- to keep the debate's airspace safe. plus... a special ceremony is celebrating safety and job growth in the valley. the big project that's getting a special dedication today. and why detectives are spending time at a pumpkin patch-- that's probably not their idea of getting into the

detectives were not scouring a missouri farm's pumpkin patch to look for the great pumpkin. instead they want to find clues about the thieves who were caught on camera stealing an a-t-m. russell kinsaul reports. (randy stuckmeyer/stuckme yer's) "it's kind of disheartening." randy stuckmeyer and his family have been in the farming business four generations. they've been at highway 141 and highway-21 since the 50's. you'd think a farm would be the last place on a thief's list of targets. (randy stuckmeyer/stuckme yer's) "do vegetable business operations, greenhouse flowers and bedding plants and in the fall we have a pumpkin entertainment operation." but surveillance cameras recorded three thieves driving up early one morning last week. two got out, broke in through a window and spent

(randy stuckmeyer/stuckme yer's) "we have a lot of people come out, you know just a convenience for them if they need spending cash for their kids to do any of our rides." we checked with a nearby connivence store and the suspects' vehicle was recorded pulling onto the parking lot, then driving away one minute before it driving onto the stuckmeyer's property. it's described as as silvery gray suburban or tahoe, with a trailer hitch. (randy stuckmeyer/stuckme yer's) "we work hard for what we do here, enjoy families coming out. when something happens like that it kind of hurts a little bit that stuff like that goes on." the a-t-m was found mangled and empty in an alley near eichelberger and morganford in south saint louis. it was tossed in a dumpster. investigators hope this surveillance video will help them track down the suspects and put
