john huck. christine maddela. and weather 24/7 meteoroligist sam argier. this is fox5 news at 5:30. local las vegas. how long are you waiting in local hospital emergency rooms? the difference could be a matter of hours depending on the hospital. fox5's eric hilt has been investigating that question and is live in the newsroom with a preview of this special report. most times when people go to the emergency room care... but some patients at las vegas hospitals are waiting hours to see a doctor or nurse. and with the busiest season for emergency departments right around the corner, those waits could get longer. "if you feel bad and you think you have the flu, this fall you may be sitting in an emergency department for 3 or 4 hours" we took a look at government data -- seeing how wait times at las vegas hospitals stacked up against other hospitals across the country..

news at 10:00 we'll show you how long those waits are and how you can avoid getting stuck in the waiting room. one adult and a child are displaced from their home after an overnight fire in henderson. it happened shortly before midnight near lake mead and water street. fire crews say they say flames coming from the front door and windows of the townhome. the person who lived in the house discovered the fire and was able to get out safely. fire crews have not said what caused the fire. they say damages will cost around 40 thousand dollars. lawyers in reno are running into a number of complicated legal issues-- in the case of a man accused of driving his truck into a crown of protesters. we want to warn you, the video may be disturbing to some. "yelling car squeeling past screaming " two men in the group are accused of attacking the

it happened earlier this month at a columbus day rally... in support of native american rights. the case raises questions about self defense-- hate crimes -- and whether protesters had a first amendment right to block traffic on the busy street. some of them surrounded the truck as it nosed into the group-- striking the driver... before he sped up through the crowd. one protester was seriously injured with multiple fractures. the henderson hospital opened its doors to its first patients this morning. there was a ribbon cutting with the henderson mayor and other city officials. there was also a time capsule burial. the hospital now offers a number of services like emergency...mater nity...and surgery. henderson hospital will be the anhor facility of the union village medical complex. the hospital c-e-o says they will continue to grow over the next five years. we'll open up a floor today and as we gert busier and busier we'll keep opening up more floors and more wings and we have

38 year old over in a car he was driving. gunfire was exchanged, the sheriff was hit, and vance escaped. authorities gave chase -- catching up with vance about 45 minutes later .. when vance was killed during a shootout. the 9-1-1 calls from the pulse nightclub gunman will be released. a florida judge made that ruling this morning in orlando. city officials are arguing that the calls should be exempt from public records law. omar mateen opened fire in the nightclub in the early morning hours of june 12th, killing dozens of people. two-thirds of emergency calls from that night have already been made public. the judge says she'll listen to the remaining 22- hours of calls to decide if any more can be made public. we're just over a week away from election day! and with four days left of early voting-- campaign surrogates are hitting the battleground state hard. the big names coming into town this week to rally for presidential candidiates. and the local trump campaign office is vandalized--
