this is fox5 news at 11. local las vegas. the eiffel tower at the paris las vegas lights up on the strip. this is a live look right now. but -- the resort bearing the name the "city of lights" has been dark for more than 12 hours... after a power outage. thousands of guests and employees have been evacuated from the property. here's what it looked like inside earlier today. officials say eleven people had to be rescued from different elevators. right now -- caesars entertainment tells us power is in the process of being restored. i'm john huck. i'm christine maddela. the clark county fire department is doing tests of the fire life safety

we have team coverage tonight. miguel martinez- valle talked to guests who were forced out of their rooms... but we start with cyndi lundeberg about the power outage... and what comes next. like you said... thousands of people three thousand to be exact were displaced including guests and gamblers some even were tapped in elevators. firefighters went dooor to door on all 33 levels looking for anyone left behind just before 10 o'clock.... the paris

the cause? construction crews hit a power line in the basement. the fire department decided it was on everybody's best interest including staff to evacuate it'll stay evacuated until the chief decides a full evacuation of the property was ordered at noon after the generators failed to kick in . 3,000 people were displaced from the 29 hundred rooms at the resort. no one went to the hospital but there were close calls... few anxiety cases but no one went to the hospital stand- firefighter rescued 11 people a firefighter called the casino eerie since it was so pitch black crews tried unsuccessfully throughout thursday to restore the power... we were not able to restore temporary power in pitch darkness firefighters climbbed 33 flights of stairs going room to room to check for people left behind chief has been here since the beginning and i know he and his colleagues and as soon as power restored

black: and with people stuck in their rooms, in the elevators, or just stuck without their stuff. the paris power outage made for a hectic day for the 3000 evacuatees rusty montgomery "we were stuck in there for approximately two hours no lights you open the door you can see maybe two doors down,the halls black" rosanne debella "i found my way down the stairs with no lights nobody was around to give me directions no one was around to ask" helene decary "i didn't know how to get a light on my camera on my phone and i tripped on the last three stairs" the outage was supposed to be temporary, people were told to check back in a few hours. kathy aguiar "we went to the sema show and figure by the time would be back and be ready and then we were told we had to get our stuff in there" bridge: "guest waited all day to find out whether the lights will turn back on and when they didn't they waited in line to get their stuff and find a place to stay for the night" people were sent to ballys to look for rooms as the day wrapped up, those staying at paris just wanted a place to sleep... charles badeen " they offered a few people rooms at other properties they have didn't say a word to us just

between two and 3-million dollars a day in revenue... and another million dollars in net income. some guests were being allowed to go back to their rooms for their belongings like medication... but one woman had to wait to be reunited with her dog! however -- clark county fire department helped her out. here's video of firefighters bringing the pup to its owner. the dog was trapped on the fifth floor during the power outage. the owner thanked the firefighters. a local business had to close early... after a car crashed through it. take a look at this vehicle -- inside the "bowlology" near hualapai and desert inn. this happened around six p-m. employees tell us the driver lost control while parking. luckily -- no one was hurt. let's check in with fox five's chief meteorlogist ted pretty.

a new medical marijuana dispensary has opened up in las vegas. "shango" cut the green ribbon this morning. this location is the company's new flagship... and will offer a wide arrange of pot products. they want to be the leading retailer in the cannabis industry and and banking on the passing of question two... to do that. question two involves legalizing recreational marijuana.
