new years plans have changed for more than 40 iowa soldiers. tomorrow morning, iowa national guard soldiers will fly to missouri for flood aid relief. flooding has been a cocnern in missouri for more than a week.. the death toll in the state has risen to more than a dozen, major roadways are cut off, and thousands of people are last night informing them they'd be leaving new years day for missouri it'll be a big change of climate and scenery for these soldiers but one i these aerial images give a glimspe of the disaster that has taken over the state of missouri. flooding has displaced people from their homes, destroyed businesses, closed major roadways...and has been responsible for multiple deaths. a little more than three hundred miles away.. iowa national gaurd soldiers in cedar rapids are preparing tanks and a water purification system to bring to missouri new years day.

is more important, its important to help people because they probably had new years plans too" more than 20 thousand missouri residents are without clean water right now. and these tanks can provide up to 125 gallons of clean water per minute.. sgt riley says she isn't sure what their water will be used for until they get there, but it could potentially be used as drinking water. "the water quality purification plant were going to right now is actually under water" this will be no easy feat for riley and the rest of the crew she says she's never responded to a national disaster before but she is more than ready. tonight's rose bowl coverage. thousands of iowans are partying tonight but the players are ready to play some football. for the first time this week, the hawkeyes got to go inside the rose bowl stadium and see the turf where they will battle the cardinal of stanford here in the 102nd rose bowl classic. it was about a 30 minute walk through giving the players a chance to familiarize themselves with the iconic stadium. we had a chance to be at the rose bowl stadium today when the hawkeyes arrived for a team photograph. there were also plenty of hawkeye

pictures and offering well wishes to the players and not far from the stadium we found hawkeye supporters all over the place as they were taking in the rose bowl experience. brandon hodges is here with his brother and sister in law -- oh it's awesome seeing all the people, like you guys from waterloo where we're from. i wasn't even born. a little what we're used to. that's for sure. amazing. you can't describe it. you have to be here to believe it. waterloo native wendy tyler boosalis and her husband chris made the trip from minneapolis -- this is tremendous to have the hawks here and my first rose bowl. it's awesome. your dad was hockey usa hockey. how about this experience here.

all around the stadium hawkeye fans are enjoying their rose bowl experience. earlier today mark woodley and i drove the tournament of roses parade route down orange grove blvd. in pasadena. there are rows and rows of bleachers set up for parade goers who will pay about 90 dollars for a seat in those bleachers. we also had a chance to see some of the amazing floats that you will see tomorrow in the parade here on kwwl. zach grant joins me now. he spent the day with hawkeye fans in hollywood.

truck. the collision took place two miles west of west union on highway 18 this morning. fayette county sheriff's department says the garbage truck was backing into a farm drive when a truck driven by phillip white and melinda scribner collided with it. scribner was trapped and the jaws of life were used to cut her free. both white and scribner and one of the garbage workers were airlifted to the hospital with life threatening injuries. one person is dead following a car accident. the accident took place at the intersection of 215th street and oxford enue just north of oskaloosa. the iowa state patrol says a car driven by susan durian failed to stop at a stop sign and was dead at the scene. decision 2016... a major shake-up in the ben carson

two top aides for the republican candidate have resigned. first, carson campaign manager barry bennett and communications director doug watts stepped down. carson's finance chairman, dean parker spoke to cnn about how this shake up is not unheard of. running for president, he shook up his campaign right before the doug watts are great gentlemen, carson wanted to work on the efficiencies of the campaign and focus on the campaign leadership and...so, he has appointed general bob dees as campaign chairman." carson, a retired neurosurgeon, has struggled in the polls since october when he was rivaling donald trump for the lead in the republican presidential race. the president is expected to announce an executive order about guns soon.... that's the word from c-n-n which says his goal is to expand background checks on gun sales.
