police later arresting his ex- wife, 62-year-old dolores flynn. flynn allegedly told a family member she hit breckenridge multiple times with a bat and hid it in a ditch near the home. kwwl's brad hanson digging into this case today for us. he joins us live from the t-h media newsroom in dubuque with the latest. it was the word of a family member and the combination of private surveillance and traffic cameras that helped police build their case against flynn. dubuque police arrested 62-year-old dolores flynn, charging her with second degree murder. police say she beat her baseball bat inside their home on jackson street. they weren't still married, but police say they were still living together. a bat, then got rid of it in a ditch near her house. they say it was that statement and a piecing together to the bat. thanks jessica - - and of course with all the recent car thefts - - a family loses their home after a fire --which fire crews battled in the bitter cold. it happened in the 19-hundred block of paris road in central city this morning you can see icycles hanging off various parts of the home from the water used by firefighters. the fire chief says this kind of weather definitely makes things tougher on them. the city of waterloo. 22-year old derrick ambrose junior was fatally shot by officer kyle law in 2012. police reports show ambrose waved a gun at a group of people outside new world lounge before he took off -leading police on a chase... police say they ordered him to stay down, but he didn't listen -- which is when officer law fired. a grand jury found law was justified to use lethal force in the incident. now the city will pay out two and a half million dollars to ambrose's parents and lawyers, following the wrongful death lawsuit. but ambrose's father says it was never about the money. "the economics part can never put a value on my son, my son was up and going, he was with me in my custody, and derrick jr up" ambrose sr. is a long-time military officer. he says he doesn't want to

the state capitol in des moines. that's where matt breen joins us now live from with more -- matt... governor terry branstad says, last session, lawmakers failed to pass his 2-point-5 percent increase is supplemental aid for schools. this year, the governor wants to do more for schools... extending a tax that's not set to expire until 2029. nats of branstad governor terry branstad calls it one of the "biggest and boldest" measures he's ever proposed. a 20-year extension of the one-penny state sales tax, which funds school infrastructure, to generate money to address water quality in iowa. "i think the big concern is we don't have a long-term reliable growth gives

of funding for what i think is already a good strategy." administration officials say the first $10 million in new revenue, each year, would go to significant growth on top of what schools are already getting plus providing a share much more? an additional $20.7-billion for school infrastructure, and nearly $4.7- billion for water quality. "and, moving that money robs iowans of the understands those concerns. but, when looking at the best ways to fund water quality and education, branstad says his plan is better that the alternative. the mexican government releases dramatic video of the raid leading to the capture of drug lord el chapo. the video shows mexican marines firing their weapons as they move into el chapo's safe house in sinaloa. he was on the run for six months after escaping from a maximum security prison. mexico is also formally starting the process to extradite el chapo to the u-s -- but they say it could take at least a year. a bold burglar steals a snake from a pet store -- after smuggling it in his pants. take a look at the surevillance video from the store in portland. you can see the man grab the two- foot snake and toss it right into his pants and start to walk away. the store owner showing some humor in the situation -- saying the man was lucky it wasn't feeding
