eastern iowa shelters rescue them from a hoarder home situation. heres a look at inside the home-- this is in beaman -- in grundy county rescuers found around 45 cats, not all of them alive, in deplorable conditions the tenant has moved out, and the cats are now being cared for kwwls olivia mancino went to that home today she joins us now live its very hard to imagine a person -- let alone 45 cats -- lived in that home when we opened the front door, garbage came tumbling out and the smell knocked me off my feet and although the cats are safe now, theres a big burden on the rescuers shoulder's to bring them back to health.. z "this is what you see when you open the door to this house, the porch is littered with garbage" and only gets worse as you go

which is something i wouldn't do, in fear for my health and safety-- but these pictures give you an idea of just how much garbage is stacked inside. "you take your first step into this house, what were your first thoughts?" "oh my gosh...what sort of...mess is this..." denis yantis and her friend amy hass- gray rescued 45 cats from this home. they both run small rescue centers. the worst ive been in. rescuing the cats proved no easy feat the garbage spilling out onto the lawn was like an obstacle course and the smell -- coming from the living and deceased -- cats, was having the cats in carriers in my car" haas-gray and yantis took every cat into their individual rescue centers, which they say was extremely mentally taxing. off. due to the evidence, the victim appeared to accidentally shoot himself. a crash involving a school bus sent two students and several other people to the hospital. the crash happened at the intersection of highway 20 and debra dettman was driving an east sac county school bus with four children on board thursday afternoon when they were struck by a truck. dettman, the truck driver and his passenger were taken to a sac city hospital. two of the children were treated for minor injuries. dettman was charged with failure to yield. a kwwl follow-up - educators and experts call it the best way to move forward with a new waterloo career center -- all while improving west and

sunday after meet the press and on kwwl.com 17 days until the iowa caucus... the friendly relationship between donald trump and ted cruz came to an end thursday night.. as the republican frontrunners clashed repeatedly during last night's debate. the war of words over cruz's canadian birth.. and trump's questioning whether he is eligible to be president.. broke open as the two stood side-by-side on the debate stage. they also clashed over cruz's charge in a radio interview that trump has "new york values." trump recalled the spirit of new yorkers after the 9/11 attacks.. and called cruz's insinuation "insulting." trump wasn't the only one insulted by cruz's comments. new york city mayor bill de blasio says cruz owes new yorkers an apology for his comments about "new york values." when the mayor was asked how the comments would impact cruz, he

he believes the remark may backfire on cruz. even democratic presidential candidate hillary clinton chimed in. she sent out a tweet this morning saying, "just this once, trump's right: new yorkers value hard work, diversity, tolerance, resilience, and building better lives for our families." we'll see how these comments impact cruz in the iowa caucus which is set for february 1. roughly two weeks on the job, waterloo mayor quentin hart is taking time to meet with concerned citizens. kwwl's shirley descorbeth attended the meet and greet earlier today. she's live now in downtown waterloo today's event gave people a chance to get to know the new mayor better...but also ask him about issues they're concerned with. some long time year orran bane. an iowa hawkeye team -- that we figured would be just ok -- turns out to be really, really good -- fran mccaffery's hawks are tearing it up -- and last night did something that hadn't happened in 23 years -- iowa won at michigan state for the first time since 1993 -- also the last time they swept the spartans -- the hawkeyes busted out to a big lead behind nine first half 3-point buckets -- as they went on to smoke number four michigan state by 17 points -- a big win that now has the hawkeyes emerging as big ten championship contenders -- long time since we won here. it was definitely a great one. it just goes back to toughness. we knew we were the better team from the get-go and we
