the cedar river. after respnding to viewer concerns about ice jamming -- we reviewed the area -- and it appears there may be some jamming in spots -- but most of the water seemspto be flowing day -- and we will continue to watch this concern throughout the week. new wat ten -- a cedar rapids police officer is recovering after being seriously injured during a domestic disturbance call it happened around three this afternoon in the 800 block of sixth street south west in cedar rapids. police say this man -- 33-year-old nathan brocks - allegedly hit the officer. the assault caused the officer to fall to the gound and hit his head. the officer was taken to a nearby hospital -- and the the suspect

he is being held in the linn county jail -- and faces several charges. an overnight hououe fire in boonn countnt kills a mother and her three children. it happened around one o-clock this morning. firefighters say the fire started in the back of the home from a space hhter the familyy was using to keep pets warm. crews say they had trouble fighting the fire -- because of the colder weather. the husband and father of this family was attwork during thh time of the fire. waterloo firefighters rescue four cats from a burning home . it happened in the 13-hundrerd block of hammond avenue. firefighters respondd around 11-40 today -- and worked through bitterly cold weather. witnesses say it appeared the home was damaged -- but not destroyed. a waterloo firefightee says a person was taken to the hospital -- and the cats were taken by animal control for trement. a cedar falls nail salon is damaged today -- after a driver crashes into it.

the driver was the salon owner's wife. since the busines closed moments before the crash -- nobody was inside -- and nobody was injured. cedar falls police responded to the incident onbrandilynn boulevard before 4-30. according to police -- they believe the cause was operator errrrr. a fire rips through an eastern iowa business overnight -- putting firefightefs to the test while they worked more than two hours here's deo a viewererent of the fire. the fire was reported at the back home country cookin' restaurant in strawberry point. authorities haven't confirmed whwht caused the fire -- but as kwwl's olivia mancino reports -- it was a rough battle for firefighters. temperatures will continue over the next uple of days. this map doesn't look much different than it did at this time yesterday. a wind chill warning is in effect for bremer, butler, grundy and black hawk county until 9 o'clock monday morning. a wind chill advisory is in effect for the rest of the kwwl viewing area until noon on monday. here's another threat tracks is in the red for both tonight and tomorrow due to the wind ccill advisoriee and warnings in effect across the area. wind chills will be 20 to 35 degrees below zero tonight and into tomorrow moring. we will see a little improvement tomorrow afternoon which is why those advisories go until noon. tuesday will still be cold, and we have the chance for snow especially late in the day and esday night. more on that in just a moment. temperatures are cold. most of us are sitting below zero right now nd have been below zero all day long. in fact, most of us saw our high temperatures just after midnight. wind chills right now are well

clear conditionsthroughout th overnight hours and into the day on monday. by monday afternoon, there may be a few high clouds tracking in, but it will be pretty siilar to what we had today. the wind will be lighter and temperatures will actually get above zero for most of us across eastern iowa. so at least we are trending upward. here is future track all the way into tuesday. we will see increasing clouds and then there will be a chance for snow by the time we get to tuesday night. therrcould be some light accumulations, but the heavier snow looks to fall off to our south. we will certainly keep an eye on the situation. here's the storm track 7 forecast for tonight. lows are back down into the teens below zero for all of us, and wind chills down in the 20 to 35 degree below zero range. those wind chills will stick with us

chilly days this weekend by creating ice ball art. the ice balls are made with birthday balloons, fooo coloring, and water. they can be seen on display at green square park. those wishing to add to the project can drop their ice balls off in the grassy area through monday. instructions for making the ice balls are posted on the cedar rapids parks and recreation facebook page. eastern iowans honor doctor martin luther king junior's birthday this weekend -- but chilly weather changes their plans. nearly 100 dubuque people showed up for the annual freedom march in dubuque. however -- organizers sent people insideeo keep them oot of the colder weather.
