in session at iowa city west tomorrow. but today was a difficult day...as nearly two thousand students were evacuated and classes were cancelled. multiple police and k9's can be seen going in and out of the school. outside the school was quiet and that's because all of the students were bussed to the hawkeye tennis and recreation center. lines of parents waited to pick up their kids, students tell us it all started for them with an annoucement over the intercom. he went on to tell us that there didn't know what kind of threat, but just a threat and everybody was to get their coats and meet in the gym." from there students tell us they were told more specifically it was a bomb threat. but the superintendent tells me they do not become numb to threats when they do happen and they are all taken seriously. i do at schools in new jersey and

news. the superintendent tells us he is proud of how the community came together today to evacuate the students, from transportation, to support from the university of iowa, letting them use their facitilies for all the students. that bomb threat is also affecting voting for a special election. west high was one of the voting locations for an election to choose a new member of the johnson county board of supervisors. the county is required to hold a vote no matter the location. (travis weipert/johnson county auditor) "for us, this is the this. we've had other counties where they've had fires at their to relocate." theevote will now be at the athletic hall of fame on praire meadow drive in iowa city. two sisters die in a house fire, while their parents were at work.

to figure out how this could happen. it happened late last night in kwwl's shirley descorbeth has been following this story all day. she's live now from the t-h media newsroom. shirley...how is the community dealing with this tragic loss? people are devastated -- from neighbors, to the girls classmates -- even those who responded to the fire. and now -- the community is leaning on each other for support. the magnitude of the blaze visible -- black soot all over, busted out windows and melted belongings remain. "when first responders and fully engulfed in flames..and pretty much beyond the point of house fire. the girls were home alone. neighbors tell me someone driving by and noticed smoke coming from the house. they tried to get inside but the smoke and fire was just too much. "and officials are on scene trying to determinewhat caused the fire." and now, those who knew the two sisters ...including their classmates, struggling to make sense of it all.

why the cedar falls city council denied a rezoning request for taylor morris- a well-known war veteran and quadruple amputee. morris -- lost portions of all ur limbs -- in an explosion n afghanistan four years ago morris and his wife askskd the city to rezone land in cedar falls, so they could build a "smart-house" to accomodate morris.. but the council says the area is far removed from city services. they voted 4-2, denying their but the council says the area is far removed from city services. they voted 4-2, denying their request monday night. kwwl's lauren moss has been looking into this and speaking with city councilman today- she joins us now with more.. amanda, i want to mention we reachd ou^ to the morrises last night but they did not want any more media coverage on this..

reached out to us here...asking how the city could deny them? he is a hometown hero and they are both outstanding members of the community. and tonight.. im told it was a tough case...for all the members cedar falls city council are calling it a complicated build a smart house i cedar falls. in 2011..the lt. dan band and the community came together to raise money for the home- which will accomodate taylor's needs as a quadruple it..the land is far from city services. john-"without us knowing where we will be developing in the future..that makes it so hard." frank- the issues are related to infrastructure- accessing it and having proper sewer, water, electric, all of that..if we provided the proper infrastructure it would cost tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. and if they approved the land for morris, some members fear it would set a precedent in t community.. councilman frank darrah- understands but does not

and her support could boost trump's support among conservative circles in iowa. palin is scheduled to campaign with trump wednesday in iowa and tulsa, oklahoma. hillary clinton also receiving an endorsement from america's largest lgbt civil rights organization. the human rights campaign announced today its endorsement for the democratic front-runner. clinton is expected to officially accept the endorsement at an event in iowa next week. two w weks from tooay waterloo voters will decide whether to build a career center. tonight there's a town hall meeting for voters to learn more about the plan. it will be at the waterloo center for the arts starting at seven tonight. if you cant make it tonight, will be two more town halls this week.

"it like fell other half and god has.i have this half and god has the other days old... olivia had her first of three opp heart surgeries... mom "she was wisked away... i barely even got to look at her. you know with my boys they were put right now my chest right away... and not with live..." after that first surgery... she had a stroke.....

less than a week old... mom "what they do is they leave the chest open for a few days and they tried to close her chest adn she crashed." liv: cause of the stroke... she hand." and things haven't been easy for liv since then.. "with the stroke it's really hard for her to turn her arm so like carrying a lunch tray.. tieing her shoes. " right now a heart transplant is not the option.... "well first you ahve to wait for to be rejection... it's just basically a whole new can of worms. a whole new ball game... so the longer we can have her heart.. the better." right now there's no cure.,...
