everyone's ok. in fact, the man in the water was found safe at home. a big spectacle this morning in iowa city. this is what happened. rescue crews started searcing for a man in the iowa river -- but he was already out of the water. he likes to swim in the river. you can understand how people who saw him were concerned -- considering it's october and how high the rivers have been. the man has been told to let emergency crews know before he goes swimming again so people don't get worried. the river levels have been going down... and so far -- it's been a dry start to the day. storm track seven meteorologist rachael peart is here with the first forecast. after some morning fog, it will be a mild october day. mostly sunny skies this morning will have a few more clouds tracking in by the afternoon, making it partly cloudy. light winds will come from the southeast. temperatures today will be near 70. partly cloudy skies continue into the

condition. another deadly crash -- this time on the tracks. the linn county sheriff's office says a man from marion was driving a pickup -- towing a flatbed trailer -- and went right into the path of a freight train. the truck caught fire and the driver died. his name has not been released. this afternoon -- police are investigating the death of a woman. she was found in an alley. rivers-- unresponsive. she was 29. no arrests have been made. d-c-i is helping with the investigation. modern day slavery. that's how people refer to human traffficking. recently... we told you about a waterloo couple arrested for allegedly trafficking two teenage girls. kwwl's amanda gilbert tells about a new program for victims. the program will help victims in 14 counties across eastern iowa. cedar valley friends of the family is hiring people for the program and getting advice from similar groups in iowa. no one gave up hope -- even the search for a toddler ends -- with nothing but smiles from everyone involved. hundreds of volunteers -- many of them who did not know the family -- came out to help search. he was last been seen going into a cornfield near his home in wisconsin. he'd been alone all night -- before someone finally found him. didn't really register really that how amazing it was. just glad that he was sitting up and he looked safe and he was fine... he was just scared.... very scared

the boy was found sitting in the field with his legs crossed. his legs were cold -- but he should be ok. three iowa police departments are getting federal money to hire more officers. today, the justice department announced 119- million to be used across the country. the goal is to highlight the need for strong relationships between communities and law enforcement. ankeny is getting 375-thousand. thousand each. decision 2016 -- a nearly one-billion dollar loss. donald trump's tax returns raise more questions about business record and transparency. some are also calling him a genius because of it. the new york times posted a story over the weekend showing trump's previous tax returns from 1995, the big loss could have been used to offset federal taxes. trump is the person best positioned to fix it trump has not releases his tax returns yet -- saying he's being audited by the i-r-s. he says the new york times published the returns illegally. the clinton campaign also dealing with a leak -- a recording of clinton talking about bernie sanders supporters, the clinton campaign has said the recording is authentic. "some are new to politics completely. they are children of the great recession and they are got their education and the jobs available to them are not at l themselves sanders said while some of clinton's comments bothered him, for the most part, the recording "but the bottom line here is that, i think, is what secretary clinton and i have done since the election, since the primary nominating process, we have worked together in a number of for clinton in iowa today -- but that was canceled.

volunteers came out in force to protect iowans from flooding -- now there's a need for volunteers to help clean-up. the iowa commission of volunteer service says they need volunteers to help remove sandbags and clean the areas hit by high water. they're putting a call out for volunteers in benton, black hawk, bremer, floyd and linn counties. we have details on our website, kwwl dot com. the red cross is opening community resource centers to help those have cleanup supplies, food and water at the centers. it's also closing an emergency shelter in cedar rapids today. a resource center will be open today in vinton until eight tonight. centers will be open later this week in cedar falls and waverly. kids are back in school today in cedar rapids -- and also today, the linn county courthouse will reopen. this is video of the hesco barriers being removed from the

into the basement of the courthouse. sump pumps were used to remove the water. tonight more talk about surveillance cameras being used in waterloo to help solve crimes. police say they'd like to have a system similar to the one in dubuque. by the end of this year - dubuque will have more than one-thousand cameras in the city -- from traffic cameras to parking ramps. the idea will be talked about at tonight's city council work session. two businesses known for their outdoorr right fight. they're merging. bass pro is buying cabela's. it's a four and a half billion dollar deal. the future is a bit unclear. in cabela's home state of nebraska -- people don't know what this will mean for jobs there. bass pro's c-e-o says he hopes to continue growing the cabela's brand alongside his own company's. coming up -- in the doghouse because this giant house won't move out of the street.

weekend near highway 61 and old davenport road. troy davis says he has no regrets about what happened over the weekend. the former iowa state football star was arrested. he was charged with public intoxication in ames. it happened about 14 hours after his was honored at the cyclones game against baylor. davis told the des moines register -- he has no regrets -- and said why have fun with the hall of fame induction? davis will go into the college football hall of fame in december. continuing coverage -- a barn could continue to burn for another day or two following a fire. the barn is off highway 18 in postville. it caught fire saturday. firefighters believe a spark from a piece of equipment. the barn full of hay -- fueling the fire. so it was a very intense fire" no people or animals got hurt. a kwwl follow-up. he has no memory of the deadly crash. that's what the n-t-s-b is saying about the engineer of a new jersey transit train which crashed late last week. one person died and more than one hundred got hurt. "he said that when he checked the speedometer he was operating at 10 m.p.h. when entering thst memory of the accident. he remembers waking up on the floor of the cab." investigators say they recovered one of the event recorders, but it was not working. the second event recorder remains is not yet accessible because of dangerous debris. police are investigating a shooting at a rest stop off an interstate.
