hoping foreign greater results this year. we are live from atlantic city, cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thanks very much. a serious crash, injured two people in northeast philadelphia, today. the driver of this car, pulled over, and was trying to fix the car and that is when a young mother driving with a baby slammed into it. that crashed happened at 10:30 on roosevelt boulevard, and hornig road. eyewitness described what he saw. >> she was just doing every bit of 60 miles an hour and just hit him, flew in the air, hit the my truck and could not move. >> women broke her leg and the crash, the babe hoy was in the carries okay tonight. meanwhile a pennsylvania highway worker is recovering this evening have after he was hit by a big rig. he was standing alongside, the eastbound lanes of the pennsylvania turnpike near king of prussia when he was hit. the injuries he suffered are not life threatening. is there a push underway for more police on the streets of northeast philadelphia. this comes, from the area in

which a nine year-old boy was grazed with the bullet, yesterday. birth was with his mother, leaving a library any tacony when he was shot. this happened not far from the scene where a philadelphia police officer was grazed by a bullet just a few weeks ago. both of those shootings occurred in the 15th police district. >> i think they should be more cops in the neighborhood most definitely. they are ones that protect us. councilman bobby henon has been looking to split that in two in order to increase number of police officers in the many neighborhoods in that area. this afternoon a judge threw out a statement, cristina regusters gave to philadelphia police. she's charged with kidnapping a five-year old girl from bryant elementary school last year and sexually assaulted her, before leaving her in a park. regusters testified that detectives did not tell her she had a right to speak to an attorney. in the statement, regusters denied involvement in the crime and blamed someone else.

>> funeral services underway for one of three council rock south high school students, killed in the crash over the weekend. a private service is underway for 16 year-old cullen keffer. he with 15 year-old rice an lesher and shamus digney died in the crash in the poconos on saturday. today classmates started their new school year with a moment of silence in memory of these young men. the the 15 year-old girl driving without a license now faces charges. man who escaped from jail earlier this week is back behind bars. rayhib henderson is held on bail. police say he broke out of the montgomery county correction that will facility in eagleville, on monday he was arrested after being on the run for a couple of hours. well, now to the hot summer weather, here in september. we did get a break from the high humidity today but it is on its way back. meteorologist kathy orr on the sky deck with our first look at the forecast now, kathy.

it has been that kind of summer. we will take a break and then heat and take a break. we took a long break from the heat and humidity in august and this is pay back. september sizzle. right now in philadelphia, temperatures are still in the 80's, in the city, 83. eighty-one in trenton. eighty-one # in wilmington. millville and dover checking in at 81 degrees. we are looking at relatively pleasant conditions as far as dew point temperature, humidity, it is pleasant but not going to stay that way. humidity levels will rise. there is a few clouds rolling through the region. those will difficulties pay this evening and temperatures falling through the 70's. mainly clear at the p.m. so coming up, we will talk about the heat, peeking this week, more summertime storms, and then it really begins to feel like september. at least in the seven day. more on that coming up later in the broadcast when i join you inside. >> kathy, thank you. breaking news to tell but right new lets look at chopper three live over a shooting, at

an apartment complex in hamilton township, mercer county. and, the address is 1206 silver court, and, right now unclear if anyone is injured, in that violence and we are working to get more information. there is new information, in the car crash that seriously injured former fbi director louie freeh. vermont police now say that freeh likely fell asleep at the the wheel when he hit a mailbox last monday. and 64 year-old from delaware broke his leg in that crash. a former federal judge, freeh most recently prepared a report on penn state's handling of the the jerry sandusky sexual boost scandal. new jersey governor chris christie is in mexico tonight, on a three day trade mission, during his first meeting with officials there the state announced the partnership with connect america did the come a social media platform. it connects latin american and caribbean businesses with opportunities throughout north america. >> another key goalies to deepen ties between mexico,

them on the delaware river. today cvs stopped selling tobacco products at its stores one month ahead of schedule. decision to ban tobacco is part of the chain's rebranding effort. they are hoping to be more of a health care company. cvs will change its name to cvs health from cbs pharmacy. cvs is expect to lose $2 billion a year by phasing out tobacco sales. philadelphia's mayor michael nutter signed a bill into law requiring employers to allow new moth tours pump breast milk while at work. that bill passing in june requires employers to give women the time and a safe, sanitary space to pump milk. the law which is now in effect applies to all employers in the city. a young man fighting cancer at children's hospital of philadelphia has become a you tube sensation. >> he has covered two songs by jay-z hoping to shine light on the daily difficulties of those who face cancer. he talk today with our carol

air in tonight. eighty-two in allentown. far cry from yesterday when temperatures were in the lower 90es a. we have more heat building out through nation's heart land from wichita, oklahoma city, dallas, houston, abilene, temperature in the 90's moving east over the next couple days. it will feel, very humid out there, as well. during the day tomorrow, the humidity will rise but friday, and saturday feeling oppressive and then by sunday a huge difference, back to pleasant, humidity levels. i think by friday, sat kay that will be the peak of the heat. now for thursday temperatures in the 80's, humid, but not terrible. by friday oppressive with temperatures in the 90's feeling warmer with the humidity and chance of the spotty shower or thunderstorm but better chance as this front approaches from the northwest on saturday, heat, humidity clashing with dryer air and cooler air on the the back side of the front that will set off strong afternoon

and some evening thunderstorms as well. looking ahead no relief in sight until sunday, jet stream well to the north through buffalo, detroit and north of chicago and that will finally push to the south, over the the course of the weekend. in the wake of the front it will be dryer, more comfortable and almost feel like september by sunday. late night hours, mainly clear, comfortable low of 66. during the day mostly sunny, warm and noticeably more humid conditions high near 90. on the exclusive eyewitness weather seven day forecast friday 90 with the humidity it will feel like mid 90's by saturday it will feel like close to 100 in spots with the humidity, high of nine is one. that front will squash the heat and by sunday clearing skies at 79, same monday, tuesday and wednesday highs around 80 degrees which is below average, normal high being 82 for this time of the year, for september, the average high is 82. >> for eagles fans though,

what a day to be outside for a football game. >> sunday will be nice temperatures in the 70's. >> looking good. >> no excuses. >> kathy, thanks. >> good afternoon, just 6:20. rush hour really right in the heart of the rush hour right now we will head outside on i-95, just after girard avenue where taillights are southbound up toward center city. moving slowly as they have had so far this afternoon. we will head over to the ben franklin bridge where we have had some problems there. this entire afternoon commute, starting to lessen up, backed up even beyond the toll plaza earlier. there is a chemical spill in the area taking out tolls. in addition to the afternoon congestion, and taking out two right-hand lanes on the bridge go over in the city, everybody is backup, even past the entire length of the bridge. majors still slow. 422 from 202 into oaks westbound still slow there a ten minute trip and 19 minutes on the schuylkill expressway
