women between ages of 40 and 60 and three-quarters of women 75 and older have trouble controlling their bladder. american college of physicians has new recommendation toss treat the the problem, without surgery. >> ke g al exercises which strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, loss of weight and doing bladder training is retraining the bladder to hold more urine so you don't to have go frequently. >> reporter: doctors say medication may be recommended for some women, monk causes, age, child birth and obesity can play a role affecting pelvic muscles. >> ultimately with time, with age and other risk factors they weaken. keeping them strong is best way to prevent pelvic floor problems in general. >> reporter: shelley does her exercises three times a day and says it is helping. >> it is a fact of life but it doesn't have to be. >> researchers show half of the women struggling with the problem don't tell their doctor about it. experts say it is really important that women speak up
