north from camden county, to someplace in north jersey, and that would describe why he came through, barnegat township. now, they say that there are more than 100 police officers from multiple agencies working together, with state police and the department of corrections which has taken lead for the last 24 hours. so far nothing has turned up, we have heard from the mayor and residents here at barnegat township who want him caught and out of their neighborhoods. the with guns drawn and search dogs at their side, police scoured wood and patrolled several neighborhood, in barnegat township looking for an escaped convict. this morning around 10:15 authorities got report of the stolen chevy truck out of hammington, new jersey. they believe was taken by arthur buckle. this is surveillance have of buckle going in the cvs pharmacy in barnegat where he apparently ditch the truck. buckle has been missing since 6:00 tuesday morning from bay side prison satellite facility on the an core property in winslow township. searches in that mostly rural

"eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter is live outside police headquarters with what we know so far. >> richard ross says he is quote, concerned, about some the of the police tactics used in an early morning confrontation, that left a driver, shot and killed behind the wheel of his vehicle in overbrook. the first sounds of that confrontation going out over police radio around 1:00 this morning. >> shots fired, police

discharged, lancaster and overbrook. >> reporter: philadelphia police say an officer opened fire, fatally wounding the man behind the wheel of this van, after he allegedly tried to off as police were attempting to stop and question him. >> one of the officers, felt he was being boxed in and in fear of his life and fired his weapon strike ago this male. >> reporter: it began police say with the 911 call in the early morning hours from a neighbor reporting that the van's driver had been acting suspiciously, repeatedly circling the block. police say the officer fired four shots, the wounded driver, continuing down the street, striking several park cars mr. the van finally came to rest. >> we heard the loud boom, and which we now know is a crash and then we heard sirens and saw the light through the window. >> reporter: strict philadelphia police guidelines prohibit officers from firing, into vehicles. unless it is a matter of life

philadelphia police say they were forced to shoot an alleged gunman. officers were called to the 5300 block of grace avenue around 11:00 last night for reports of shots, fired into the air. police say that the gunman ignored order to drop his weapon and then, he fired a shot at the officers. they returned fire, hitting that man in the leg, he is now in stable condition. campaign 2016 donald trump now has no competition in the race to be the republican party presidential nominee. ohio governor john kasich is dropping out today. ted cruz announced his decision to bow out last night. kasich and cruz lost badly to trump in the indiana primary. it looks like trump is beginning his general election campaign well behind democratic front runner, hillary clinton. new cnn poll shows clinton leading trum will 54 to 41 percent in the match up in november. cbs news correspondent craig boswell has very latest on the state of the race. >> reporter: patties now clear for donald trump to be the

the history of politics then what this staff has done. i mean, it is kind of always been this way, it has been a mystery to me other than to say that i like to think that they think that they have been part of something bigger than themselves. we all want to be something bigger then ourselves and i think we do it with honesty and integrity and as a result, i think i know and i sure hope and pray that they -- this they feel that this experience that they have had, in this campaign has improved them in some way, change their lives for the better. so i'm looking forward to being able to spend more time with them. the volunteers just amazing. i don't know how many, 800 people that went to new hampshire, people that went to

michigan, people were in south carolina. i mean i would show up places and there were people i knew. i would be like why are you here? but they were, they were believers, and i could never thank them enough for the long car rides in the snows of new hampshire they knock on doors and in the rain of south carolina they knock on doors. it really gave of themselves. my mother used to always say never forget the volunteers, johnny, and they were always the ones that have given me the octane, the fuel to be able to carry out my purpose. i want to thank the people who gave the money, the financial resources. we never had all of the money we wanted, we were probably out spent by 50 to one but we were never, ever daunted in that and we just got up every

day and did the best we can and, of course, big thank you go to beth hanson who was the campaign manager and did everything to keep as much as we possibly could do. and my dear, dear, friend, doug price. well, we start getting into these names but as i mentioned, i think emma said we will see mr. doug, didn't you travel with my daddy for like a year and a half ape reese looked at him and said how did you ever do that? but we had a great time and we will have a lot more fun in the future and, of course, the kitchen cabinet i look add joann davidson and tim, the only guy i know that carried more luggage then a entire circus crew.

in the united states, behind heart disease, and cancer. >> health reporter stephanie stahl is here with more in a new report and pennsylvania group that is looking out for residents. >> yes. >> reporter: trying to help on 24 would. pennsylvania safety patient authority has said there has been a noticeable increase in reports of, series of events and deaths at hospitals and medical facilities around the state. there is a similar situation, a cross the country. medical mistakes have become the new, third leading cause of death in the united states. >> we're talking about patients dying from the care that they receive rather than the disease or injuries for which they seek care. we're talking about things that happened that shouldn't happen in a sound health care system. >> reporter: medical errors include mistakes in diagnosis, inadequate discharge instructions, and preventable complications. such as infections, pick up in the hospital. >> patients just don't die from heart plaques and bacteria, they can also die

from communication break downs and medication errors. the system level problems are almost ubiquitous in health care. >> reporter: researchers say most medical errors are not due to bad doctors, they a say system wide failures are responsible for putting patients at risk causing 250,000 deaths a year. >> patients falling through the cracks, a fragmented health care system, diagnostic errors, medication dose goerors and preventable complications. >> reporter: pennsylvania pennsylvania safety authority's annual report says serious events at medical facilities are up 9 percent with a 22 percent increase in patient deaths. that could be due to implementation of the new standardized reports. so the question everybody is asking is what can patients do to protect themselves. welshing a couple things. be informed? know about potential complications, ask questions, especially about medications or treatment options, and get second opinions if you can. you know, if you are in the the hospital though you are out of it sometimes so get a family member to be involved asking questions.

"eyewitness news" reporter joe holden is in center city with what both sides are saying tonight, joe. >> reporter: ukee, jessica, good evening. this entire area was shut down earlier and there is still a heavy police presence out here but dozens of those protesters packed in city council chambers. in the meantime mayor kenney is saying that this taxis a much needed, set of money, set of cash to sure up funding for schools, and other city initiatives. under pressure protest against mayor kenney's controversial soda tax, spills outside city hall ahead of the public hearing. >> glad to see people are finally standing up to being taxed the way we are. >> reporter: labor leaders and those begins 3 cents per ounce plan blasted city administrators, really they blasted their horns. officials said they intend to use revenue to fun universal
