rahel. >> reporter: nicole and ukee, this is the second murder/suicide this less than a week that police in our region are investigating. over the weekend in berks county, of course, officials discovering a family of five dead. that appeared to be a murder suicide. today officialness this normally quiet new jersey town tell me that they are dealing with a similar crime. neighbors say sunflower circumstance until burlington, new jersey is usually very quiet, the family inside house 15, seemingly happy. >> well, always riding his bike outside. >> reporter: prosecutors say monday night police went to the home for a welfare check and discovered husband ruben johnson his wife mishanda and their ten year-old son dead. neighbors tell us thinks johnson and michigan honda police believe he was shooter and then turned his gun on himself. >> just never expected that. it is a tragedy. really is. >> reporter: signs of perhaps happen years times could be seen outside home tuesday as people made their way in and out. no doubt wondering why.

street. >> reporter: neighbors and business owners in kensington the speeding is nothing new. >> we represent a highway section of the city. >> reporter: police say street racing could to be blame in the multi car crash monday night that killed a three-year old girl. >> my heart goes out to them. i could not imagine having a six year-old and 11 year-old, to imagine losing one, devastating. >> reporter: around 7:15 monday night police say two cars were speeding down the 2400 block of north second street when they crashed in the 2012 honda civic carrying three people, including the toddler. that car then spun and hit a fire hydrant with the enough impact to also up route a traffic light post and eject three-year oldest ter palmer from the back window. >> there was a car seat in the car. we do not know if she was buckled in properly or not. >> reporter: now neighbors want to see more patrol and enforcement of the speed limit before something like this ever happens again. >> senseless. >> reporter: sixty-four year-old grandmother riding in the passenger seed remains in critical but stable condition at temple university hospital.

police are still looking for this black honda accord which they say fled the scene. police say that car, should have heavy damage to the driver's side after that lamp post felon top of it but at this time no charges have been filed against anyone involved in the crash. live from kensington, anita oh for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". well, day one of the testimony wraps up in the criminal trial of the pennsylvania attorney general, kathleen kane. kane appeared upbeat when she arrived at the courthouse in norristown this morning. in opening statements the prosecution said that kane was benton revenge, when she allegedly leaked secret grand jury information and then lied about it under oath. kane's defense attorney countered that she made an honest mistake and that mistakes are not criminal. first on the stand for the commonwealth today montgomery county detective paul brandberry. he presented documents showing that kane signed notized oath toss keep grand jury information gathered before she took office secret. the trial is expect to last

one week. reputed philadelphia mob boss joey merlino is due in the florida courtroom on friday. federal authorities arrested more lean he last week for his alleged role in the organized crime ring. he wases supposed to have a detention hearing this morning but it was rescheduled at the request of his lawyers. merlino spent almost 12 years behind bars on a earlier racketeering conviction. he was released in 2011. search crews recovered black box from the doomed cargo ship el faro, freighter sank last year near bow ham owe when it got caught in hurricane joaquin. all 33 people on board died. crews hoped the recent recovery will be able to give them insitu what went wrong in the final moments. ship was built in chester delaware county in 1975. police in delaware say a speeding car driven by a suspect drunk driver cause aid fiery crash at a popular restaurant. flames destroyed, ed's chicken and crabs on route one in dewey beach earlier this morning. investigators say michelle

small was behind the wheel, they tell us she lost control and then struck the restaurant and a propane line causing a gas leak. fire fighters were able to pull her from the car before the restaurant caught fire, small is charged with dui. no one was injured when the porch roof collapsed over three row homes today, chopper three over 4700 block of melrose street in the frankford section of the city. we are told two homes were occupied and resident are allowed to stay home while repairs are being made. search is on for thief got away with the hospital computer, and it was all caught on camera. this surveillance video from methodist hospital on south broad street shows a man walking with an hp desk top computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse on july 28th. he got away through broad street doors. it is not clear if sensitive information was compromised if you recognize, call police. police are also searching for several suspects who used a rock to smash their way in canal's liquor store in berlin boro this happened on route 73

>> reporter: four months after shoulder replacement surgery and 77 year-old janet daddy who had arthritis is finally able to use her arms without pain. >> can you raise them above your head. >> yes. >> wonderful. >> reporter: janet had a quick, easy recovery something you do not usually hear with shoulder surgery. >> women compare to it natural child birth, men compare to it kidney stones. it can be painful at night. >> reporter: doctor david glasser with penn orthopedics say pain from shoulder surgery was traditionally with narcotics but because of side effects and addiction concerns they found a better solution. >> we're using a special pump that administers the anesthetic, to the local area, heel that area. >> reporter: thinks pain pull that directs medication to the surgery site through a catheter in the neck. >> placed in a certain way they can use their hand and still be active but yet they won't have have pain from surgery. >> it is a wonderful thing. >> reporter: janet who had pain pump for first few days after the operation says

surgical scar is her only reminder. >> this is a new one. >> reporter: three years ago she had her other shoulder replaced and given narcotics. recovery from that was slow and painful. this time with the pain pump. >> this was like nothing, it was a walk in the park. it was so different. it is like night and day report report she was quickly able to comb her hair something that had been a struggle before. >> a little nasty today. >> reporter: now doctor glasser is also doing some of the shoulder replacement surgeries with just local anesthesia and not general. patients can be awake. he said that helps them recover faster with fewer medications. to be able to do shoulder surgery like this, without those kind of medications, our friend don bell, knows all about shoulder surgery. >> i had a rotator cup surgery and i slept upright for two and a half weeks. it was most painful experience i have ever had. >> next time check out pain pump. >> there is a solution. >> can make a difference.

thursday, continue all the waste through 6:00 o'clock saturday evening and that is an indication that heat index values could top 100 degrees, possibly even higher then 105. especially on saturday. all thanks to the big area of high pressure off the coast and heat pump is pulling in all that heat and moisture from the south and west. jet stream off to the north. we have a stalled front to the north as well. you can see taking a look at water vapor. you are looking at any tan shading, that is dry air, any blue shading is humid air. all this humidity over golf of mexico is being brought in northward and we will feel it over next few days. we will have cloud. tomorrow afternoon a stray shower or thunderstorm. looks more active here on thursday especially in the afternoon. right about three or four or 5:00 we will see showers and storms popping up. heat index values topping 100, thursday, friday, and saturday. even tonight, feeling much warmer then recent night. seventy-five is our overnight low. we mention that had eagles preseason game. 86 degrees at kick off. bucks are in town for that. there could be a thunderstorm
