kate, how are you feeling. are you sweating yet. >> it took two seconds for me to have a slow drip, it is very, very uncomfortable to say the least. wait until you see these feels like values. so baking in the unshine right now, high friend, there is nothing to track on storm scan but give it sometime much like we had yesterday you may find a few bubbles that fire up out there of localized showers, maybe thunderstorms as the day progresses. so expect that, meanwhile, our excessive heat you have mentioned a warning in place for parts of the the area and excessive heat watch that takes effect tomorrow. all of those spots shaded in that burnt maroon, you will this be a heat advisory, rest of the day. tomorrow the watch takes effect. regardless we are stuck with this. core of this heat is notable up and down i-95 and flanging counties. look at this it already feels like, well, through go magically right before your very eyes, we see observations update. almost everyone, feels like it is in the triple digits outside here in the delaware

valley. so again brutally hot out there, it feels like 103 a at the airport. i can a test to that. even though there is a breeze it is far from refreshing. ninety-five is technically what we expect to hit on the thermometer. don't go by the thermometer, just do math in your head, pack 10 degrees on and that is how it feels at any given point. you may find relief high enough in the higher terrain up toward the poconos but everyone is stuck in the humidity and it doesn't mean it will feel a lot hotter then that term ter read. back inside to you. this next story is horrifying. a little boy was shot in philadelphia, several times, and police say suspects used high powered weapons. our own justin finch tells us the young boy is clinging to his life. >> reporter: mahaj brownies now fighting for his young life, just six years old, he was severely injured in the east germantown shooting just after 11:20 thursday night. as he recovered from surgery at st. christopher's his grandmother delores menendez,

told "eyewitness news" about the big injuries now ravaging his small frame. >> his left armies shattered. his intestines were tore up. he has several this his abdomen, arm. it traveled through his leg. >> reporter: from the 5500 block of west car sun street to east ashmed, neighbors like end that late night gunfire to a war zone. >> we heard all of the bullets. i knew it wasn't a regular gun. i didn't know what it was. it sounded like from the arm are/something. >> reporter: witnesses say a green chrysler minivan and dark brown ford explorer may have been exchanging gunfire with each other, with victims, caught in the cross hairs. >> we don't want nobody caught up in cross fire or anything like that. so be mindful what you are doing. >> reporter: on the scene scores of shell casings found belong to assault style and multiple high caliber firearms. mahaj's loved ones say a family friend was driving him from his grandmother's queen lane home to his mom's wistar street house.

>> grand mom shut the door and walk toward microwave and she heard hail of bullets. >> reporter: their car, a gray pontiac bonneville made it around the corner to the 5500 block of wistar, mahaj was in the front passenger seat. police report that a family friend a man 32, was shot burns in the arm and flagged down 14th district officers report to go that shooting. officers got both to einstein. one other men, both aged 29, were shot on east ashmed and driven by private car to einstein. one was shot once. other multiple times. justin finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". former penn state assistant football coach jerry sandusky says he is innocent. the seven two-year old took the stand in the pennsylvania courtroom and in an event to have his sex abuse charges thrown out or get a new trial. the seven two-year old testified he has been poorly represented by his old defense attorney joe amen dole a sandusky waved his right to testify during his 2012 trial

and he toll the judge he would have testified if his lawyer had given an indication that he should. of course, sandusky was convicted of sexually abusing ten boys and he is currently serving a 30 to 60 year sentence. our greg argos will have a live report starting on "eyewitness news" at 5:00. closing arguments are set for monday mountain perjury and obstruction trial of pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane. she's accused of leaking secret grand jury information to embarras a rival and then lying bit, under oath. the prosecution rested its case this morning. defense did not call any witnesses to the stand, instead, kane's lawyer filed a motion to have the case thrown out, but the judge, denied it. philadelphia police hope that you can help them track down the man who assaulted a septa driver right in the driver's seat of his bus. this is a suspect in the attack on the route 37 bus on south broad street on august the third. police say that the suspect punched the driver, slammed the driver's head on the dashboard, and then bit him in the face. if you recognize this suspect

contact the police. traffic is getting back to normal in upper chichester right now but things were a mess earlier this morning. a truck's brakes caught fire and crews haded to off load the damaged cargo before they could move that truck. this was at story road and connchester highway at 8:00 this morning. fortunately there were no injuries. important news for parents, pennsylvania's new car seat law is in effect. that means all children have to stay in rear facing car seats until they are at least two years old. on the "eyewitness news" this morning triple a's jane tidwell showed katie fehlinger a demonstration on how little ones should be fasten in the back seat. she explained what drivers coming from out of state need to know about the new law. >> as parents, it is your responsibility to do your due diligence, find out what the car seat laws are in the state in whiz you are traveling. luckily here in this region, new jersey also has a rear facing up to two years old, law for child passenger safety. >> advocates say positioning

children significantly lowers child's risk of being killed or another justly hurt in the crash. parent caught breaking the law will get a warning for the next year. after that they could be find $125. well, i know it is still summertime but bird are back in town. preseason game number one was a big one as fans got to see the start of the carson wentz era of eagles football. the eagles jumped on a fumble in the opening kick off and scored just moments later. they never looked back. they beat buccaneers 17-nine. fans gave wentz a standing ovation when he entered the game in the end of the first half. he completed 12 of 14 passes and threw an interception but he was athletic, mobile and seemed to be having a a good time. >> i was really excited, ready to go, excited, especially a two minute drill. that was fun. i was real nervous. i never really get nervous. it is just a game. i'm fortunate to play it. i had fun out there tonight. >> eagles play steelers in pittsburgh next thursday night in preseason game number two game one of the regular season

welcome back, across country jet blue flight finally arrives to its destination after a scare in the air forced an emergency landing. >> twenty-two people were hurt when the plane hit severe turbulence on the way from boston to sacramento. correspondent marlee hall has the story. >> reporter: jet blue passengers arrived safely in sacramento following a midair scare. plane hit severe turbulence last night over midwest and

suddenly dropped. >> everyone flying way up in the air and my lap top flew way up in the air and there was stuff flying. >> i was buckled in but lady next to me was starting to, fly, and then the guys behind us had hit the overhead compartment, and it cracked you could see where it cracked. >> reporter: the jet blue flight left boston 5:30 in route to sacramento. because of the turbulence, crew members diverted the plane to wrapped city south dakota. >> this will be air bus 320 coming in, eta in ten minutes. they said they had numerous injuries on the flight due to turbulence. >> it was a tail of terror. >> reporter: eileen lynch is an emergency room nurse. she and a doctor on board helped passengers. >> we both went to the back of the plane and the three stewardess were injured, another young child was injured, and several people hit their head. >> reporter: at least 22 passengers and three crew

members were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. marlee hall for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". and a funeral service is planned this afternoon for caleb schwab, ten year-old son of the kansas state representative died sunday at a kansas city water park. sources say child suffered a severe neck injury while riding a giant water slide with two women not relatives. they suffered facial injuries. authorities have not revealed how it happened. we're still waiting to hear how a three-year old boy is doing after he fell out of the wooden roller coaster at an amusement park near pittsburgh yesterday. child was conscious when he was air lifted to a hospital. authorities say that the roller coaster at idlewild and soakzone amusement park does not require seat belts. they say the child was riding with an older brother but that boy's age has not yet been released. republican presidential candidate donald trump is walking back his latest controversial comment once again saying he was just kidding. trump says he really didn't mean president obama founded isis. correspondent craig boswell

you have seen the persaid meteor shower yesterday, good news you can see it again tonight. the shower is still at its peak, it shows up every august and people that stay up to watch can see an average of 100 meteors an hour. the forecasters are predicting as many as 200 an hour. fit is cloud any your area you can watch it on line on you stream. >> yes. >> hopefully. >> yes. >> you can see it. >> yes, we will have some clouds around tonight it may not be completely overcast though so i would give it the a shot if you upset on seeing it. but we do have thunderstorms and showers we have to dodge over next few days. of course, it is all about the heat. that continues to be the headline. >> you have to be careful. >> you do. thanks for saying. that so true. we joke about the heat. it is a sauna outside. it really feels like that. if you are not smart about it

and we're all smart, we can, you know, just take this too far and be outside, and use your common sent, and, we will all be fine. we will show you, if you took away the temperature, it is inviting picture. lovely looking outside. looks can be deceiving. look at that temperature. ninety-two. tossing in what is a modest breeze and not refreshing at all, with that wind flow out of the west southwest, warmth and humidity, getting shoved basically north east and that is why we end up with this unstable air mass that could lead to additional showers and thunderstorms. live neighborhood network shot is still quiet. we have had a couple highlights through 2016 so far, in the month of june, we have had five, 90 plus degree days. and there were three quote unquote heat waves where we had 16 all together, 90 plus degree days and so far in august, three, but we do think we will tack on to that pretty nicely here in the next couple of days and it is already,

within the first week and a half, one and a half degrees above average for month of august. looking at storm scan at the wide zoom over the course of the last hour just north of the i80 corridor this bubble of showers and thunderstorms has been moving on through. we will see more of the same with that type of variety of showers and storms bubbling up as the day goes on to the north and west especially but everyone is fair game. this front is what need to cross through. don't worry about this off to the south but this front. this is taking its sweet old time. it is taking its time to move. as a result of the because of high pressure blocking it from going anywhere we are stuck with oppressive heat and humidity over the next couple days and unstable air to row dues those pop up thunderstorms that we so often see this time of the year. this is how it feels next few days. take a breath and take this in, okay. we're talking 105 or so for feels like value today. as high as 110 in the city tomorrow. that is dangerous, guys. don't go out in the height of the day if you don't have to. fine the air conditioning.

stay hydrated, if you have to be outside because we get it. sometimes where you just cannot make that work. be smart. frequent breaks. lots of fluid, water, preferably beverage of choice here. one of six is how it feels on sunday. here's how it stand, we are at 92 degrees here in philadelphia at international airport and flirting witt or already the in the 90's across the board. mount pocono at 82. i would say tack 10 degrees on, that is what it feels like at any given point. down the shore you think that is a great place to go. it is hot there too. rip current risk is moderate. water temperature is not terrible. we are in the, 70's at least. it is certainly the excuse you want to be swimming near life guards if you take a dip. the worst of the heat comes tomorrow again with that really excessive high heat index of 110. we keep it going in to monday with scattered showers and storms every day but no wash out, either. >> okay good find a place to stay cool. >> exactly. >> speaking of cool this is pretty cool this ace gray
