violence, community members rally following the separate shootings of two innocent children. pennsylvania kathleen kane resigned one day after she's convicted of perjury and other charges. how kane's downfall is making it's way into the presidential campaign. chase utley returns to citizens bank park for the first time since being traded. we have those stories and more straight ahead. we begin with another chance of rain as we head into the night. i'm jessica dean. i'm nicole brewer in for ukee washington. meteorologist kate bilo is standing by with what we can expect in the next couple hours in terms of this rain. we kind of dodged the bullet the first time around the first line fizzled before it got to philadelphia. that means we didn't really cool down, the heat and humidity still in place and something for this next line of storms work with, you can see these storm are firing just west of our viewing area right now starting to creep into berks county an area that did get rain and strong thunderstorms, wind

damage earlier. a second round on its way and this one is one to watch as well. with lightening just poisoned to move into western lancaster. a closer look. you can see nothing severe at this hour, but a few scattered localized downpours, lightening and even strong gusting winds. these could try to move through the majority of the area. if we pick up a storm, it will be likely be right around midnight. you could see this in the next hour or so, progressing further eastly. you may harry rumble of thunder or rain drops. after about 3:00 a.m. that should clear the coast. in the meantime before the storms arrive, it's still very hot and humid outside. still 87 degrees here in philadelphia. due points remain in the mid 70's. look what it feels like right now. 97 is how it feels if you step outside in the city right now. little cooler where it rained earlier. now it's looking as though the heat wave may not be threw with us just yet.

how many more days we could tack on to this heat wave coming up. send it back to you jessica. a middletown delaware family is temporarily displaced after lightening strikes their home when the powerful thunderstorm hit late last night. it scorched the home from top to bottom. "eyewitness news" got a look at the extensive damage. firefighters had to use an ax to tear the siding off the house to put out the fire burning underneath. >> we're going to need a new roof. siding, all the gutters were blown off. the whole house may i likely need to be rewired. >> a reminder that a house is one of the safety places you can be during a thunderstorm as long as you avoid anything that conducts electricity. stay away from corded phones, male doors and windows. a heels of her perjury and obstruction defensive. kathleen kane announces she's stepping down as the state's top prosecutor. >> david spunt was in the courtroom. he is live in the stat center on

what's next for kane. >> a lot changed in four years tomorrow at this time attorney general kane will be a private citizen. no question the heat is on as she waits to find out if she will serve jail time. kathleen kane, the scranton native who promised to end corruption in state government when she ran finds herself a convicted felon without a law license. was convicted deliberately leaking information against frank fina, she did it after bad press. of a jury found her guilty on nine counts of perjury related charges. she said she would resign wednesday by the close of business. in a brief one sentence statement, the to open said, quote, i have been honored to serve the people of pennsylvania and i wish them health and safety. former montgomery county bruce caved who kane appointed to be her number two will take over. >> once the jury has spoken,

becomes very difficult for any law enforcement officer to have credibility. >> reporter: was ones arising star. earned an endorsement from bill clinton in 2012. grew up in scranton but is no to stranger to our area. graduated from temple unit law school. practiced law in philadelphia before moving back to scranton. she became attorney general in 2013. and one year ago, he was dieted. tom wolf began calling for kane to resign shortly after her indictment. in a statement, he said what has transpired with attorney general cane is unfortunate. her decision to resign is the right one and will allow the people of pennsylvania to huff on from the situation. >> kathleen kane not in custody but she did have to surrender her passport. she'll report back to court on october 24th. she could face at least seven years behind bars and a possible fine. reporting live tonight, david

financial mismanagement. alan butkovitz accused former official using a reserve account called the mayor's fund. of he was the former chairperson of the mayor's fund. butkovitz said she spent more than $100,000 on trips and hotel rooms for city officials for it's papal visit and provided receipts invoices. >> it's completely unacceptable and it's particularly concerning in an administration whose hallmark was transparency honesty. >> mayor nutter said there is no truth in wawa he said. it's for an approved purpose and he never talked to them about any concern, which is standard procedure before releasing this salonedder russ, he is a sad and

sick person. a rally for peace. one philadelphia community is coming together to speak out against the gun violence that sent two 6-year-olds to the hospital last week. one of those injured children is recovering a the saint christopher's hospital for children. trang do has that story. >> reporter: a family friend tells me mahaj brown remains here recovering from gunshot wounds to his arm and chest. in his germantown neighborhood community members tell me they're fed up. >> enough is enough. >> reporter: more than 100 people gathered in germantown as a call to action against increasing gun violence in the neighborhood. >> the movement to stop violence in the city of philadelphia. >> reporter: the rally comes a week after a 6-year-old girl shot in the arm sitting on her front porch on 6300 block of north woodstock street >> i'm pissed off.

that could have been my daughter your daughter. of we have no feelings towards our women and children. >> reporter: the same neighborhood, mahaj brown also six years old was caught in a gun battle and shot multiple times on the 5500 block of clark son street >> a 6-year-old, means so much to me. my little 7-year-old was caught in the cross fire. >> reporter: richard ross joined hands with community members >> they're hurting not because of the babies but young man being cut down by gunfire similar to what's happening in big cities across the nation. we do have to work collaboratively to try to stem this violence. >> reporter: police offering up to $10,000 for information leading to arrests in both of these cases. anyone with information can contact northwest detectives or 686 tips.

i'm trang do cbs3 "eyewitness news." police are investigating the theft of a 16 foot u-haul truck carrying nine bikes belonging to wounded warrior project. the ones you see here were inside that truck when it was taken last week from the renaissance hotel in delaware county. the bikes and equipment are valued around $37,000. if you have information, contact police. one man is in custody. but police are searching for another after a dozen home invasions of asian owned businesses. due to multiple tips, 29-year-old was taken into custody but has yet to be charged. still at large is 33-year-old anthony campbell be the these need the public's help finding him. the home invasions occurred between may and august of this year. police held a press conference today. >> we're still looking for anthony campbell. if anyone has information that

can help us, or if anyone knows him can you get him to turn himself in, please do that >> police say campbell should be considered armed and dangerous. police want to know if you recognize these two suspects who are wanted for robbery last month in frankford. investigators say one of the young man punched a store clerk with brass knuckles at the clerk scooped water ice for him. police believe the suspects are between 15 and 20. we do know they got away with cash this woman behind bars after a bizarre attack inside a wilmington target. laaka mason poured bleach on to another customer's head. some of the bleached splashed on to a one-year-old child. she turned herself in police this morning sflrnl several varieties of cookies are being recalled. >> we'll tell you the concerns surrounding those sweets. of plus wildfires continue to burn throughout the state of california. one man is now behind bars

flooding as the water flows downstream towns are being submerged. volunteers and rescue teams continues to look for stranded residents. a california man is facing arson in connection with a wildfire north of san francisco. investigators say they have been building a case against 40-year-old more than a year. but didn't have enough evidence until this weekend's blaze ripped through lower lake. in addition to that fire, he faces 16 counts of arson for smaller fires dating back to last summer. on the health watch. many people with severe allergies rely on epipens, in recent years, the cost sky rocketed. in 2009 pharmacies paid slightly more than $100 for a two-back. that price has since gone to more than $600. the manufacturer of the device has a virtual.

town. the show will feature demonstrations from each branch of the military. they got to chance to watch practice routines over the boardwalk today. >> makes me feel patriotic. i'm american. i'm loving it. >> city officials have been planning for months for big crowds expected tomorrow. extra police officers and emts will be on hand as well as cooling stations to help people deal with the excessive heat we've been seeing. >> sounds like we're going to continue to see it into tomorrow >> unfortunately we are. the good news the excessive heat warning expired at 10:00. we've been under that since noon thursday. glad to see that go. of that means tomorrow will not be of the excessive variety. won'ting the feels like over 100. the bad news is it may end up being day eight as we could hit 90 for the daytime high.

that said, 90 is better than 94. certainly better than 97, 98, which is where we were this weekend. we also still have the chance for scattered storms tonight and possibly tomorrow afternoon. here's a look at what's going on. we'll start off with a time laps video of earlier. storms that blew through berks county left wind damage. you could see how quickly these storms rolled through. also, the stats tell you how this got. we had a wind gust reported on the weather station of 46 miles per hour. now berks county getting hit again, scattered showers and storms moving through. these storms are briefly intensifying. we don't have anything severe right now but seems the storms move toward the philadelphia area. they still have a lot of heat and humidity to work with. it's very hot's very steamy outside. we could see these storms again hold together through the next hour or two especially bring

thunder, lightening, and some brief intense downpours. you can see these little spots of orange and red. temperatures as we mentioned very warm. very steamy. it's 87 in philly right now. 84 in wilmington. getting a little bit of rain are the areas that did get rain earlier, not quite as warm. mid 70's. the due points extremely high. the due point right now is a miserable 76 degrees. you don't want to be 76. that's kind of off the scale. 75 to 80 is our insufferable range. we don't want tobin sufferible. it is feeling like 97 in philadelphia. right now we're in the insuffer irreparable range. due points back in the 60's, thursday and friday back to the not bad range. it will be slow progression getting the heat out.

it's so firmly entrenched. we're looking at highs close to 90. sunday see this bubble of cool air, yellow and green shading moving into the great lakes. by tuesday of next week, that will eventually sink southward and bring us a day we may wake up and say feels nice and cool but that's a week away. i also wants to tell you about something developing in the tropics. this is tropical depression six. winds to 35, gusts to 45. it is expected to form into tropical storm fiona. through sunday but there's another wave coming off the coast that could eventually become tropical storm guston. we increased the number of hurricanes. and things certainly are heating up. overhad night a thunderstorm aerial. mostly cloudy otherwise 76. of tomorrow partly sunny, less humid, it's still hot. but it's not as hot. i guess we have the take what we
