in a delaware state park. a woman dies after falling 40 feet from a zip line. what the company that runs the attraction is saying tonight. it's a race against time. search for survivors continues in central italy. after a powerful earthquake reduces towns to rubble. breaks news an 8-year-old girl in camden is fighting for her life. shot in the head standing outside her home. the search is on for multiple suspects. good evening, i'm jessica dean. >> i'm ukee washington. david spunt is live with the breaking details. >> ukee and jessica she's been in surgery a couple of hours, authorities are not releasing her name. they say she is fighting very hard for her life. camden county police say the 8-year-old was shot on eighth and spruce around 8:30 wednesday, she was caught in the cross fire of several bullets.

authorities say she was shot once in the head >> this is is an all hands on deck line in the sand moment. we're pulling out all the stops to pull in the cowards that opened fire on this city block. >> reporter: police chief scott thompson a man who works every day to turn camden into a safe city was at the hospital with the family >> the individuals responsible will feel the full weight of law enforcement. >> reporter: he said he's looking at several possible suspects. no one is in custody. a neighbor watched some of the scene unfold from the front porch as the little girl arrived at the hospital in an ambulance. >> i'm disgusted. this city needs to get itself together. the people that live here need to arrive and get the drugs and the crime out of this city. i am really -- this is outrageous. >>reporter: the chief said they're looking at local surveillance video from a small business in the area closed

circuit surveillance. if anybody has information, camden county police want to hear from you you can remain nonnews re must. david spunt "eyewitness news." a woman dies in new castle delaware after falling from a zip line, it happened at lums pond state park in delaware. trang do has more from the scene on this tragic accident. >> reporter: what was supposed to be a fun outing turned tragic. at go ape venture attraction inside lums pond state park. delaware state police say a 59-year-old woman fell 40 feet from a zip line around 2:30 p.m. wednesday, paramedics transported her to christiana hospital where she died. go ape immediately shutdown and investigators spent the afternoon collecting evidence to determine what went wrong. >> unfortunate to hear about what happened. >> to me it's always been very safe and super fun activity. >> reporter: people have gone through the tree top obstacle course in the past say the

safety procedures are thorough but you have to pay attention >> the staff basically takes you through how to hook up to the wires and everything as you're going across the obstacles. after you get up there, it's kind of up to you to make sure that you're hooked up safe. >> reporter: they declined an on camera interview but e-mailed a statement, the go ape team is deeply saddened our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends and in particular those who were on the course with her at the time. they went on to say that they're cooperate, with authorities, no word yet on whether the attraction will reopen on thursday. in bear driveway, i'm trang do, cbs3 "eyewitness news." tonight's toll from the earthquake in italy climbs to 159. a 10-year-old is among the survivors. the 6.2 quake hit in central

and humid, dangerously hot. we've turned the corner and everything has been looking better. unfortunately, we do have a return to 90 degree heat. although it's nothing like the heat wave we just came out of. this is some more manageable, more seasonal heat. it's above average but it is august and we're used to this heat and humidity. let's take a look outside. you can head to do you believe the shore, it's not that bad outside. clear sky, you can see just a few cars on the road there. beautiful moon outside. star lit sky through tonight and it's comfy again, not quite as cool as the past few nights have been, but temperatures in the 70's on their way still down to the 60's. another night that's comfy for sleeping if you want to give the air conditioner a little bit of a rest. stormscan 3 right now not showing much of anything for us be but we have this nasty line of storms tearing through portions of the midwest tonight, prompted tornado warnings and tornados did touch done, that has started to die down a little

bit. you can see that us line of storms about six hours ago as they move through portions of indiana, a line of storms, straight line winds possible across portions of northern ohio. this system will impact us tomorrow. it will get here tomorrow and could bring re bring a stray shower and more clouds. in the meantime temperatures, you may remember the past couple nights, temps dropped into the 60's, even 50's in mount pocono, not tonight. most of us still hanging on to the 70's. it's comfy but not quite as cool. 70 in millville. 73 in philadelphia, 72 in allentown and in mount pocono it's 64. it does start to turn more humid tomorrow, temperatures in the upper 80's. warm, steamy, this system approaches from west. it will increase the cloud cover maybe a stray shower there, few and far between, that front overhead on friday will also bring the chance for a spotty shower or thunderstorm but then we drop the humidity saturday. it's a bit of a trade-off. tomorrow clouds increasing you can see a couple of showers and

storms mainly north and west. could be a storm rolls through the city. we'll be tracking it. friday starts off with sun and clouds and again maybe a stray shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon hours. pretty quiet. the tropics no the so quiet. we got an area of disturbed weather. we got tropical storm gastone. he won't do much beyond possibly craving the rip current but it will strengthen and head towards the bahamas and south florida. a few try to curve it up the coast and out to sea it looks as though this will be a an issue for the bahamas and south florida. it could bring heavy rain and the risk for flooding. we we don't have to to watch out for tropical moisture, the earliest it could impact us would be late a next week if at
