will not see many effects and that is case today. it will be a good day from the city, even parts of the south jersey, looking pretty good in the poconos. we will get sunshine. the good news for shore too as far as rainfall most of that stays off shore. it will be windy along the coast. that will still be an issue with the storm system strong wind, continuing for the at least the next 24 hours, and even beyond that, now that will lead to tidal flooding. heads up around times of high tides, next coming between 9:30 and 10:30 this morning at the shore but rain staying off shore so that is great news. check out storm scan three you can see rain to the south with southern del marva peninsula and steady rain off shore. cannot the rule out maybe a shower coming in on shore, and same deal tomorrow but we are not deal where the steady rain. we thought it would be dealing with 2 inches of have rain. that is not the happening. tropical storm warnings remain in effect, for coastal new jersey to, in new jersey and

tropical storm hermine is off the jersey shore. governor christie has declared a state of emergency for three coastal counties ocean, atlantic and cape may. cherri gregg from our sister station kyw news radio is live in atlantic city with latest on conditions there what do you think, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, rahel. i'm standing here on the beach just a few hundred feet from the atlantic city boardwalk near steel pier and so far, so good. the wind is definitely here but it is not too heavy, and you can see beaches are clear, and they have removed life guard stand to make sure there are no projectiles the in the event of the heavy wind but look the at the very, very choppy. there are several foot waves coming in. and we are about four hours away from this morning's high tied, so these waves, continue to inch and closer and closer to that boardwalk. the as you can see over here, you can see the area where

they keep some of the chairs that people use when they are on the beach and there is sandbags there, and, making sure that the water will stay away from those items there but if you look at the other side, toward the boardwalk, people are acting like there is nothing going on here. there is a state of emergency in atlantic county but people are still in the casinos. casinos are fully opened. so are restaurants. we saw some businesses opening, this morning, so, it doesn't really feel like once you get off of the beach, that a storm is possibly coming but we will show you that other side, as the morning continues, but, so far, so good, rahel, live from atlantic city, cherri gregg for kyw news radio for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". as team coverage continues in avalon where "eyewitness news" reporter alex hoff is live on the beach with the very latest on the conditions there, hi there, alex. >> reporter: hi there rahel, good morning. i have to agree with cherri

there isn't an indicate that there is anything out of the ordinary except for trash cans and larger objects being taken off the beach as well. that is due to the likelihood of live wind. i don't know fit is just time of the day but i'm not feeling those blister pounding wind but as justin mentioned that is likely to pick up as day moves forward. coming in through these shore towns this morning there were signs warning of flooded roadways. i have not noticed any kind of flooding of any kind this morning but high tide did hit just before 4:00 a.m. and that was precautionary in the even of the tidal flooding around then but the main concern is going to be and has been, the evening high tides, that will hit around 4:30 p.m. and then even more focus and more caution, will be, tomorrow morning's high tide, and as you can see cherri pointed out we seem to have surf all week. beach erosion was to be expect but the real point of caution will be those, on the bay side of things these back bay area

can easily become flooded at high tide. heed warnings, beware that it says right now some roadways are flooded, it is saying out of precaution for upcoming high tides but for those who stuck it through this weekend i think that they are not feeling so poorly about that choice right now, at least, and if anyone is up and going for a run this morning not a bad morning to do so, rahel. >> alex, thank you very much. appreciate it look. seaside heights, folks strolled boardwalk and watch the runway and ocean enjoying final moments before this storm possiblery end their lane are day holiday at the shore. life guard are on a different tooth i keeping people off the beach. this eyewitness photo was sent by zeka orsick who shows life guard blocking access to the beach at high tide. and homeowners in florida are surveying damage that hermine left behind, the storm made land fall there before barreling its way up the coast, bringing with it flooding and some spots enough to wash out roads and another

neighborhood down trees and branches are keeping clean up crews busy. hermine is being blamed for two deaths the in the u.s. stay with "eyewitness news" as we continue to track hermine we will bring you updates on the storm's path the on tv, of course but also on line at cbs philly.com. philadelphia police are investigating a fatal shooting in kensington. police were called to kensington and east allegheny avenue after people heard gunfire. office's arrived to find a man shot several times. he died at temple university hospital. police are searching for two gunman. police are investigating a shooting in philadelphia's passyunk neighborhood. investigators say a 21 year-old man was shot five times that happened around 8:00 in the 2300 block of south 25th street. the victim is in critical will but stable condition. two men are in custody after a shooting that wounded an atlantic city police officer and left another man dead. early saturday two officers noticed aid robbery on arkansas avenue near caesars casino parking garage.

the as one of the officers got out, he was shot, other return fire, killing one of the men, now identified as 25 year-old jerome damon. five other men ran off. police found each of home but determine that three of them were actually the victims of the robbery. they were released and two others, 19 year-old markell chestum and dimitri cross are charged with two counts of attempted murder and other charges. officer is still in critical condition. and an accident involving an ambulance is under investigation in northeast philadelphia this happened around roosevelt boulevard at whittaker avenue just after 2:30 this morning. police say a vehicle struck the ambulance while traveling southbound on the boulevard, no word on any injuries. philadelphia police say they have to clear the stage during made in america festival. it happened after more than a thousand people rushed the stage. there were no arrests but before it was all over two day concert series will showcase more than 60 artists.

earthquake rattles several states in america's heart land. 5.6 tremor struck saturday morning on the edge of oklahoma's key energy producing areas. it was strong enough that people felt tonight kansas, arkansas, missouri, texas, nebraska and iowa. fortunately there were no injuries but the quake was strong enough to cause minor damage including cracks in homes as you can see there quake renewed concerns in oklahoma about waste water injection from oil and gas fields. the oklahoma commission is serving 37 wells around the epicenter to shut down. campaign 2016, we are now just 64 days away from the voters choose a new president. and donald trump fresh off his

worse but don't let your guard down those wind will be gusting with potential for some widespread power outages if we get those gusts over tropical storm force and tropical storm warnings do remain in effect for southern new jersey all along the coast into delaware. there is ocean city live look right now perhaps a few peaks of sunshine today but cloud will rule out. you can see flags blowing there but people enjoying a dry morning on the boardwalk this morning. temperatures in the 60's on the way up to the lower 70's on the coastline. storm scan three shows bulk of the rain well off shore, great news, the access to the heavy rain shifted further east, couple showers southern del marva peninsula nothing crazy, clearing out very nicely from the city on north and west. turning out to be a good finish for points north and west of the city, poconos, great shape, even around philadelphia, no problems but that is good news for made in america concert today. more clouds in south jersey you may see peaks of sun from time to time but not a full

sunny day. as storm energizees more and it the may move back to the west, tomorrow, that is what why we will be dealing with stronger wind tonight and tomorrow and maybe get a shower or two coming in later tonight and for labor day along the coast but nothing steady, we are not dealing with inches of have rain but tidal flooding around times of high tide. that is main issue from the storm system. sixty-four at the airport. fifty-five in allentown. the nice early september weather coming at us right now, low humidity. low to mid 60's along the shore. ocean coming in. 72 degrees. ocean will be rough for next several days. you don't want to be heading in the water there north wind right now 65 degrees. stone harbor 64 in cape may. they will shift northeasterly possibly later this afternoon as the storm continues to pull off slowly to the east and north east. look at the cloud just displaced from the center of the storm which is pretty much due east of the del marva peninsula. this is a post tropical system. shallly in the tropical system

you can see cloud wrapped tightly around center. consider this just a strong nor'easter that is sitting off shore. you know the deal you will get strong north to northeast wind causing beach erosion, large surf we have tropical storm warnings up and down the east coast, tropical storm watches for southern new england that just means for tension for win gusts exceeding 40 miles an hour. gusts not a problem right now virginia, beach, hat rawls yesterday was pretty rough down there they had gusts up to 50 miles an hour. even on the new jersey shore this hour looking good. gusts of 24 in wildwood. eleven in atlantic city. that will increase tonight and certainly on labor day. let's go through time and look at these wind gusts, areas inland no effect from the storm system because it is so far off shore but right along the coast tonight we will start gusting over 30, getting close to 40 miles an hour. maybe up to 50 during the day on monday. so tomorrow will be more windy, here along the immediate the shoreline and then starting on tuesday, storm slowly pulse back to the

north and east. wind relax a little bit. looking at future weather model. here's the storm this afternoon couple hundred miles off the coast, and tries to move a little west ward over the next 24 hours we call that retro grading because of the high pressure system just blocking it. this storm has no where to go until that high breaks down and this storm still lingering over our region off shore tuesday but we will clear out the skies, that turns out to be not a bad tuesday, as well as far as sky conditions go but persistent on shore wind through at least monday, possibly into tuesday morning and again we will be dealing with another concern of high tides later tonight and tomorrow morning that will be the best shot to see the worst tidal flooding across the new jersey shore and delaware beaches. so again we will see sunshine mixed with cloud for inland spots, more clouds try to move in tonight into tomorrow but still dry, through much of the region even for labor day. tuesday we are back to sunshine. look at the temperature upper 70's close to 80 for inland

on the watch out for a strong wind has been, on the coast and moderate to major coastal flooding especially later tonight and tomorrow morning. so issue is tidal flooding with this storm system. it looks like heavier rain stays off shore, and, looks like well east of the delaware valley. we have a couple showers in southern del marva peninsula and that is about it oer wise that, clouds, and sunshine mixed today. the storm system has 65-mile an hour wind and we could get higher gusts, so tropical storm warnings remain in effect for coastal areas of new jersey, and delaware. here are latest stats on post tropical sigh clean hermine, wind 65 miles an hour. the it is still moving east north east at the 12 miles per hour but eventually it is expected to slow down, move around a little bit off the coast, perhaps more perhaps west ward tomorrow and then back to the north east very slowly over the next few days so that is why still strong wind continue along the

live, and cherri, earlier you saw people at the casino, boardwalk, still looking normal out there. >> reporter: it does, rahel, good morning. it does look normal. we saw people walking down the boardwalk abe i'm standing here on the atlantic city boardwalk near steel pier a few hundred feet from the beach but if you take a walk down the boardwalk there is people, down here, just walking around, they are heading home from the casino, some luck year then others, folks i spoke with told me that yesterday's wind was much more brisk then it is today. if we saw down here we saw a guy a few moments ago riding his uni cycle down the boardwalk. the bird are here. they are chirping. they are making noise. there is wind but it is not really abnormal. but that is on this side. if you go over to the beach and i'll give tommy, my photographer, kudos for this because we will walk over to the beach here and that is where you can tell that there is a storm coming.

that is where you can see pretty high surf all they there is not a lot of sand blowing around you can see that there is, some wind here, you can see several feet high waves and i will give him a chance to get over there and show you guys this but there is several foot high waves and they are pretty, pretty powerful there. they are hitting up against those roxanne as they roll in the high tide which is just after 10:00 a.m. this morning. you can tell people are still standing on the beach. when sun was rising this morning people taking romantic strolls, holding hand, enjoying their vacation here but there are sandbags around the rental sheds where there are chairs, bounce seats and umbrellas, just in case and you can see the line there where the sand line where water will come at four and a half feet around 10:00 a.m. this morning. so far so good. we will not complain. people who want to come out here this morning this is the

on their toes, it doesn't seem like there will be any beach closures despite state of of emergency in the county but what could happies life guard could determine that it is just too rocky, too strong of rip currents and they could decide to put a swimming ban into effect and until the water is very warm, probably, pretty tempting but something i have not been seeing which i'll often see before storms is surfers dwindled off. justin and i both surf where it gets to the point where it is just too rocky, you do in the want to risk it. it is not fun anymore. we have been seeing same thing cherri has been seeing people taking strolls on the beach. one woman said can you please say it is horrible so no one else come down, there his no lines at the restaurant tonight. can't tell you that because it is pretty nice. those that stuck it out are not upset the that they did at least right the now and they are trying to soak this every bit of the good weather that they can. reporting live, i'm alexandria

hoff, now rahel back to you. for the record i can appreciate a good pony tail, i think you look good. well, delaware governor jack markell has also declared a state of emergency around coastal and delaware bay community in sus connection county. joining residents and vacationers powerful storm will bring rainfall and possible flooding, in row rebeach, city officials have closed the beach, and traffic and swimming is prohibiting. stay with "eyewitness news" as we keep track of hermine. when not on tv we are always on line at cbs philly dot the come. authorities in minnesota say they have found body of a michigan boy who caught national headlines 27 years ago. eleven year-old jacob weatherly was abduct in minnesota in 1989. his remains were identified jed. no one has been arrested or charge in the abduction but police named five three-year old danny himlick as a person of last year. he was charged with child pornography but was not charged and jacob's abduction.

mourners gathered for funeral of the camden girl shot and killed outside of her home. eight year-old gabriel carter was laid to rest at temple church of god and choice on river road in camden. carter, of course was caught in the cross fire of the gunfight on august 24th on the 900 block of south eighth street. she died two days later. gabriel's killer remains on the loose and a reward has climbed to $76,000. and an investigation is underway if the fire in philadelphia's feltonville neighborhood. it happened on the 300 block of sideham street at 9:30. officials say there was a small explosion in one of the homes and quickly placed under control shortly after arriving on the scene and fortunately in one was hurt. and we still have a lot more to cover on cbs-3 news, coming out party for the to you their can call itself the tallest in the west. ♪

your guard down. strong gusty wind, again, tonight and tomorrow. coastal flooding, wind is high threat from this storm system. low threat for rain now. that is good news. we will be dealing with beach erosion and dropping rip currents for next several days as this storm takes its time to get out of here. temperature wise not bad for early september, labor day weekend. fifty's right now. sixty's from the city south and east. there is comfortable air. look at michigan, 44 degrees at this hour. it does warm up west of chicago. we will see a return to typical summer-like condition by middle of the upcoming week into the next weekend time frame. the sustained wind right now out of the north, ten to 15 miles an hour. even along the shore. that is not bad. they will increase though tonight, check it out, actual storm in the center of it. intensifies more. you can see purple here that is 40 to 50 miles an hour wind. watch what happens as the storm tracks further west which we may get in on that overnight tonight and then certainly for labor day. so still strong wind
