monday morning, two accident out there, one on the schuylkill, one on the boulevard, then because of the explosion in new jersey a lot to talk about in the world of mass transit. >> not even rain interesting either. any time the weather starts to get active, even a shower, i swear, traffic just goes to a stand still. i don't know what it is. we can't seem to drive in the rain. i don't know what it is. but here it is. take a look, some of the rain coming down very heavily too. i'll show you some of the rainfall intensity in a second. but at least they're most of new jersey, off to dry start. couple of pocket of showers, obviously your eye gets immediately drawn to what's going on through chester county, lancaster county back to berks and lehigh valley. that's where i want to turn our focus, zero in, take away the satelite, look strictly at the radar, snapshot of the 5:00 a.m. picture. you have very heavy pockets every rain, rainfall intensity as high as two plus inches over the course after hour. now it is not staying over one spot for the course of an hour, but regardless some lightning strikes within some of the pockets, we zero in on
5:01 am
this one across northampton county, easton area, south of that, traveling 611, you have 1.34 inches per hour falling along this stretch of 611. so this is commuter nightmare trying to deal with, that monday morning anyway, slugger to get out the door as it is, then you throw this very heavy rain on top of it. this will slow you down, highly suggest taking rain gear with you, umbrella would be fantastic idea, you'll thank yourself later. flood advisories until 8:00 a.m., 8:15, for portions of berks county. won't be surprise today see that extends. currently mid 70s in many locations. quick check on your regional forecast, just kind of soggy day. don't expect much sunshine. again you'll need the umbrella again today. back to you. >> thank you, good morning, happy monday. first accident that's out there schuylkill eastbound past university ave. you do have one open lane again. the right lane was block. all lanes are block. now it is back to one more is open. alleviating tension we saw

just little bit ago with the backups. overall, give yourself couple of minute in the area. another accident, the boulevard, roosevelt boulevard southbound, outer drive past wells, look at this, that can start to slow you down fairly quickly when we get the flashing lights. because of the explosion in jersey overnight we've been talking about, we'll continue to do so because of that, amtrak northeast corridor service suspended in elizabeth, take a look at this, new jersey transit north jersey coastline also suspended between newark liberty airport and elizabeth. a lot of changes there. make note of this. check your schedules on line. i'll let you know anything i hear as women. then construction out there 202 northbound between route 30, 401, pulled off to the shoulder, not going to slow you down too much. make note it is there. construction jersey lane shifts here, 295, both directs cents between 42, and route 168. and another area where we have some lanes, as well, 42 northbound, southbound, both directions between 295 and route 544, weaver lanes just there, as well.

more to talk about in the worlds of septa coming up in about ten minute, over you. >> thank you, let's get back to breaking news, suspicious device explodes overnight near new jersey trans station. >> this all happened while the bomb squad was trying to disarm the device. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo live at the scene in elizabeth, union county, with more on the investigation and the impact on the morning commute. good morning, jan. >> reporter: jim, rahel, good morning, still a loft police activity at this train station in elizabeth new jersey this morning. but the fbi tells us they are working hard to get this entire area secure and completely safe. they are making progress. they say, they do have that done within the next 30 minutes or so. but, because of this ongoing investigation, and i want to emphasize this, for our viewers, travel into new york this morning could be very tough. rail line suspends in the this area. as meisha has been mentioning, amtrak tweeted this morning that customers are safe and officials will let riders know when anything changes. but right now they apologize
5:04 am
for the inconvenience, new jersey transit warns commuters and asking them to seek alternate means of transportation, of corpse they want to make sure this line and travelers are safe after a back pack with five devices was found here last night. and take a look at this. it is the moment one of those devices exploded and it was all caught on camera. >> now here's what happened. fbi union county and state police bomb attacks all arrived last night, during the force of rendering one of the devices safe the fbi says it unintentionally set, and investigators town process the scene this morning, but it was around 8:30 last night when suspicious package was found near the northeast corridor train tracks here in elizabeth, new jersey, the area is north broad and westfield avenue. the mayor says two people found a back pack in a trash can. and while they were going through it, they spotted what was described as pipes with wires.
5:05 am
they quickly left the back padge, got police, the fbi hazmat involved technicians all called in. police evacuated and secured the area around the line. again the mayor says the package was secured, during the process that one of the five devices detonated unintentionally. >> the robots that were going in to disarm it, cut a wire and it exploded. i don't know the tech logical aspect of that. i know there are other devices, i don't know what they're made up of, but they'll have to be removed. >> in the meantime, police are reviewing surveillance video from nearby bar. they say the two people who found the backpack didn't see who dropped the backpack. this all comes after two explosions in this area over the weekends, one 1 inch seaside park, the other in chelsey, new york city. it is unclear right now if any of these are connected. of course because of all of what's happening behind me here this morning, the morning commute will likely be very tough for people trying to get into the city.
5:06 am
of course we'll keep you updated. for now reporting live in elizabeth, new jersey. >> jan, thank you. a loss of moving parts inch. >> deed. meantime the fbi is questioning five people in connection with the explosion that rocked a manhattan neighborhood this weekend. surveillance video captured the moment of the blast, which sent shrapnel into bystanders. anonymous source says now five people found in a vehicle in interest in the investigation. no one has been charged with a crime. new york city police say they've blown up a second device found blocks from the first blast site. new york understandably has increased it, some officials not yet ready to call this incident an act of terrorism. what's going to determine that? >> reporter: good morning, jim, rahel. they are not calling this an act of terrorism just yet. one of the reasons is no group has claimed responsibility.
5:07 am
now, there is an ongoing police presence here in chelsey, we're told dollars nypd is on height ends alert. nypd police commissioner calling this very complex post blast investigation. part of the investigation is to determine whether the motive was political or personal. and that's what is confusing a lot of investigators at this point. we have no one who has taken responsibility for this attack here or the one in seaside heights new jersey saturday. >> well, hena, some intelligence experts are pointing to the similarities between the attack in chelsey and the military bombing in 2013. what can you tell us about that? >> here is similarity there. both bombs included pressure cookers. the only difference here is that a cell phone was used to detonate the device. and officials, that have a lot of officials worried. they say that's a step up. another level of sophistication, that wasn't used in the boston bombing. now the cell phone that triggered the bomb here was also similar to the pipe bomb
5:08 am
that was triggered in new jersey. and those are the similarities between those two attacks on saturday. that's why trying to fick out is it the same person or people behind those bombings. >> very scary weekend, thank you, hena. in other news, authority are investigating yet another explosion this one saturday at the jersey shore. the bomb blue blew up saturday in a trash can in seaside park shortly before charity 5k run. no one fortunately was injured. now, officials say, it didn't appear to be connected to the blast in new york though weren't ruling anything out. >> this morning, getting a look at the moment a police officer was shot during a deadly rampage in west philadelphia. >> this video captured by a camera outside a barber shop shows the moment university of pennsylvania officer edward miller was shot. he was released from the hospital yesterday. investigators say the gunman, nicholas glenn, went on shooting rampage late friday night killing a woman, and injuring five other. people living nearby ducked for cover.
5:09 am
>> it was four more, so i just laid in bed and got close to the wall, you know, shooting through the windows. >> now, philadelphia police sergeant sylvia young remains hospitalized after she was shot several times. glenn was killed in a police shoot-out. investigators say glenn was angry with his probation officer, and police, and wrote about it in a note found at the scene. >> well, happening today, hillary clinton is coming to philadelphia. clinton will deliver a speech this afternoon at temple university later the democratic nominee will head to new york to meet with world leaders at the united nations general assembly. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch will have a live report on clinton's visit in just about 30 minute. >> meanwhile, donald trump is campaigning today in florida. he'll address crowd of supporters in fort myers. the republican president a.m. nominee virtually tied with clinton, in recent election polls. >> well, the eagle take on the bears in chicago tonight in several players will be making some sort of statement during the national anthem at soldier
5:10 am
field. >> the players have not yet said what they'll do, but symms they have coach doug pederson's support as long as it is not a distraction. >> malcolm and i have talked about this, and it is going to happen regardless of what i decide or say, and i respect, i respect the players decisions on it, and the biggest thing i don't want it to become a distraction to the rest of the team. >> some eagles players took time to show support for member of the local police force. they visited ed miller the u xmen oyster shot while responding to the deadly rampage in philadelphia this weekend. the philadelphia shared by the fraternal order of police. >> this morning, there is a big shortage of gasoline and space. >> that means long lines and price spikes, the states affected and the reason behind the shortage. >> plus a tragic start to the football season for a high school team when their bus crashes. what happened right before that caused the crash.

5:16 am
i frontal boundery. heavy rain as moisture gets drawn north, very mild outside. very muggy outside. and behind it, high pressure does wait in the wings for us here, some very refreshing days later in the week. but, this isn't the best way to start off a work week, i ewingly -- highly suggest an umbrella, but radar wearing its eagles green. maybe that is it. dew point pretty hi, again, real muggy outside, low and mid 70s currently in many spots, remember, the higher the dew point gets, the worse hair day. the friz factor goes up. jim your hair still looks fantastic, i know, but that said, i highly suggest the umbrella, and maybe ponytail, not the worse idea if you have to be out in. >> this palmyra cove nature park, shot we love to look at, nice center city skyline, you can barely make it o clouds have sung low. there is rain on the way right now. eventually, autumnal equinox
