i spent many years as a nuclear missile launch officer. if the president gave the order we had to launch the missiles, that would be it. i prayed that call would never come. [ radio chatter ] self control may be all that keeps these missiles from firing. [ sirens blearing ] i would bomb the [ beep] out of them. i want to be unpredictable. i love war. the thought of donald trump with nuclear weapons scares me to death. it should scare everyone. i'm hillary clinton and i approve this message.

11:10 pm
front row seat watching tonight's debate. trang? >> roughly 30 people were here at the watching this debate on the big screen oftentimes just ating their popcorns and laughing as if they were watching a movie. many people telling me at times the debate was that both funny and disappointing and hear's what they had to say. >> the debate was pretty hilarious but not intentionally so. >> it was hard to watch. it was crazy factor both sides. i mean, obviously, there was a lot going on with donald trump. it was immature the way they would interrupt and yell. >> i'm interested in seeing what other kind of people or other views are coming out to see the debate, whether it's primarily democratic or republican, whatever the case is. yeah, just kind of trying to see what's being said and get a better idea of how the candidates are representing themselves >> the craziest thing i've seen
11:11 pm
politically in this country. it's kind of beyond words at some point. >> reporter: the candidates will have one more chance to appeal national told voters with the if i think debate on october 19th. that will be at u n l v in los angeles. we're live in pennsport. trang do cbs3 "eyewitness news" >> thanks so much. we heard from some of the people who were watching the debate. we want to break down and get analysis on what you guys saw, we're joined by renee amor r. thanks for being with us, and jonathan sidel, a democratic analyst. let's start first with what i think everyone is talking about, which is the tone and tenor of this debate overall. renee, what struck you most watching that >> first of all donald trump to me was much better than the last debate. he was a little bit calmer. he's still interrupted because that's donald trump. still wasn't as bad as the first
11:12 pm
one as far as i'm concerned. of course, my partner right here will probably disagree because he thought hillary was better. i'm not saying that. >> what about again, the tone and tenor but i'm talking to about the subject matter. there at the beginning. talking about rape and sexual accusations. the things you don't normally here at the beginning of a presidential debate. >> it took about 20 minutes until he said maybe he didn't do it. i don't think i've ever seen anyone sink so low as donald trump did during those 90 minutes of the debate. it was, all this information he accused hillary of everything including being the second shooter on the grassy noll. it was a sad commentary on politics that both of us love and devoted our life to >> there was a lot of talk to the bases for each of these candidates. in terms of the people said i can't vote for either of them, i'm sitting this election out.
11:13 pm
do you think this motivated that voter to get up on the couch and to go either way and say i'm voting for him or her >> if you watched hillary's performance, she talked about the issues. she talked about her history, her long history of helping children and carrying about the future of this great country. i think if you listened to donald trump, you said to yourself, can this man lead the most powerful nation in the world? the answer, anyone, i think, should be no. and if that answer is no for him. you got one other choice, and that's secretary clinton. i think she did well for herself as to the issues. >> don't get me started. the bottom line is i don't think hillary was that great. very much on the defense. just like she pushed her button, very offensive, that's why she smiles to act like she's not upset. she is it a lot of talk. not a lot of substance. >> let's talk about ballot races, what we mean by that is
11:14 pm
how the effect of the two candidates at the top of the ticket are going to affect state races like the senate race we have going on in pennsylvania which is very tight between pat toomey and katie mcginty. how does trump help or hurt pat toomey >> it's difficult for pat toomey. it's two women being the top of the democratic ticket and people are concerned about that, especially on our side and it is going down one point, ten points, depends on how many people come out and vote. that's the bottom line. but it is a serious issue and i'm concerned. >> jonathan, what about for katie mcginty. >> i think you'll find that the counties and philadelphia led by congressman brady, we're going to punch out our vote. what you saw the average philadelphian and westmoreland and allegheny county are going to say i cannot have trump as prejudiced in the end, we got
11:15 pm
qualified people, people running on state level, qualified woman running for miss mcginty for the senate. i believe we're going to have a clean sweet. i think it's because we got the best candidates. best candidates >> i guess we will find out on election day. guys, one more debate. thank you so much to both of you for staying up late with us. don't forget, we're not too far from just a few more weeks to go. we will continue to keep you updated here on cbs3 and any time at cbsphilly.com. >> thank you very much jessica and all of our guests there in election central. meantime the other story of the night that has people talking disappointment in detroit, the eagles fault their way back from a first half deficit. but it was not enough to beat the lions, let's bring in don bell >> this is not the way you want
