>> we're enjoying bright sunny day, also challenging a record in the temperature department. will today be one for the record books? let's get first look at the forecast with meteorologist, katie fehlinger, liver outside on the cbs-3 skydeck, hey, katy? >> jim, it will be awfully close, tell you that much. the record is in fact 85 degrees, but we're going to do a lot of flirtation with that number here today looks like. i can tell you it feels so warm outside right now. not terribly humid. it is october after all. but, in the days ahead we'll likely see some of the humidity ramp up on us. just nice sort of indian summer kind of afternoon. that's unfolding for us. and it is very bright, sunny outside, too. let me show you storm scan. well, at this point, it is working over time. nothing to see here, folks. let's move on. meanwhile our temperatures are already on pace to get close to 80, probably over the next hour or two, but here is the record to beat. not just today but tomorrow as well. today's record high is 85. that was set more than a century ago. so it will be a tough number to break. again, we will come close.

thanks to chopper three forgetting this beautiful shot. >> really is stunning video, isn't it? >> wow, absolutely beautiful. >> yes, and that actually happens in part because of the way the light gets scattered, partly why you see, you know, either red, yellow or pink sunrise, sunset, yes, just all about the way the light is. >> it does feel so, so warm outside. and you know, it was actually into the triple digits with the heat yesterday in oklahoma, brooke, actually where some of the biggest heat was in our area. >> don't miss that. >> i know, i know. you know, but at the same time, nice and summer like. here is a lock at the records that we need to hit in order to at least tie for today's daily record. eighty-five in philly, in reading, 83 in atlantic city and the list goes on. so, we're doing pretty well already. you saw those values earlier in the broadcast, already in the mid and even upper 70s, handful of spots, see how we do, but we are not forecasting
12:19 pm
a tide record today, although, it wouldn't be out of the question necessarily, if we ended up hitting eight an after all, because we are forecasting 84 here today. so see how we do. storm scan is nice and quiet locally. warmfront lifting out of here taking along with it some cloud cover, really started the day off on pretty pleasant note except for some fog. that's long since lifted. and we're left with just beautiful day. now, the jet stream plaza very critical roll in separating cool and warm air. because over the course of the next few days it is going well off to our north, tends to get blow torch effect taking effect here where we have 15, 20 degrees above the seasonable average, expected daytime high. just incredible warmth. not like it has never happened before. but, it is a little atypical to be seeing mid 80s at this time of the year. so, little hint of that indian summer for you, enjoy it while you have got it. the tropical satellite looking here over the next five days, 07% chance of this area of showers and thunderstorms, to develop. we'll keep an eye on that for you, for now, no imminent threat on that.
12:20 pm
in the meantime, as we take a look, back here, locally, what we can expect over the course of the next few days is still just exceptional warmth for the standards. at 78 degrees right now, after all at palmyra cove nature park. a place does ends up registering little cooler because it is a more remote area, but offer in the distance, you can see, the center city skyline here, betsy ross bridge off in the distance, a tad hazy, but overall, nice clear sky for us here. that winds direction is key. out of the southwest it comes to help usher in the warmth. it is not really all that humid outside right now. but with the heat out in this, probably sweating, i would definitely suggest breaking out the shorts, if you did not put them away. good for you. but, generally speaking i think a lot of us might have to dig into the closet for them here. we have another very warm day on tap. few clouds dropping down to only 64, normal daytime high again 66 degrees, so our overnight low is more reminiscent where we normally top off n short though, it is going to go pretty quickly here, we keep it pretty warm
12:21 pm
tomorrow. that will be record breaking day, we think, and then we slowly but surely drop off with every passing day, watch for some showers probably thursday and specially friday, and then actually below average for the weekend. but the sun should shine looks like for both saturday and sunday. >> all right, i like that forecast. >> talk about transition, though. >> thank you. >> you got it. >> well, a sure sign you're getting older when you get your first aarp card in the mail. i know what they're talking about. but what about when a former teen heart throb pops up on the magazine? >> start sending them at 30. you are not getting older, okay? people are talking after beverly hills 90210 luke perry appeared on the latest issue. crystal cruz shows us the cover and the reaction. >> i don't believe winning through intimidation. of course i'm doing the intimidating. >> luke perry a/k/a dillon mckay was the beverly hills high school heart throb on 90210. >> one of the cutest characters ever.
