bringing in cold weather. things could get dicey. henry rothenberg is breaking down the forecast. what are we seeing outside right now? . >>reporter: we've got the cold temperatures out there. but there's one good thing, and that is the air is very dry. dewpoint may not mean a lot to you at home, but it means a let to me. this is indicating the air mass outside is pretty dry with these temperatures in the single digits, anywhere from 10 to 15 actual air temperatures in the 3 #0s. we'll see the numbers climbing. that means more moisture in the atmosphere to support anything that looks like it could be falling from the sky, making it from the sky to the ground. right now clouds for us but over the next couple of hours we expect that to change. future watch shows temperatures hovers into freezing. third shift around 3:00, the potential of a little bit of pink end kating a winter mix. still with us by about 6:00 going into tomorrow morning and still looking at some spotty

vivian jeffrey was trying to cut the tires on her husband's eschar. when he attempted to stop her, she cut him. the victim has not life threatening injuries. columbia family grateful for their life after their home was engulfed in flames tonight. you may have seen it. the home is on luster lane and considered a total loss. according to the columbia fpt, once the hot spots are under control, they can enter the home to investigate the cause of the flames. the family was able to escape the home without injury. there is one pet, a dog, still on the potentially roaming around the area. it's a never-ending topic here. how to fix our roadways. senators preparing to debate how much extra money to give to the state's highways and bridges and plenty of options to choose

christy hall has given them a host of options. here are two of them. one, spending $65 million extra a year to get the pavement on the interstates up to good condition while doing no bridge work. the other option, spending $800 million in new money that would attack congestion, fix bridges and the senate started debay before adjourning for the weekend. new numbers in south carolina have 48 officer-involved shootings in 2015. that's the highest number since the state law enforcement division began keeping track in 1999. in 26 of 48 ins stances suspects pulled guns on officers. they show they're up 45% from 2004. 14 officers and 14 suspects were injured during last year's 48 officer-involved shootings.

10:00 returns. . welcome back, everyone. mother nature delivering a little bit of a setup for us on monday morning. we brought in henry rothenberg to kind of break in down a little bit. it's cold oidz root now. >> incredibly cold. there's a lot of variables playing out in this system. everything that's happening on the news side with the politics and the campaigning and everything going on leading up to next week's primary, it gets going tomorrow. and that's what we'll break down. let's look at the temperature outside. you can see on the as you understand night in 10 hour we're freezing. 36 in columbia. also in lexington, freezing. in winnsboro, newberry, 34. we have 30s out there. the numbers will drop a few more degrees. the cold air in place and b bn in place a couple of days. i'll show you a number you don't see

the dewpoint is not 43 but everybody else is correct. cam ben den at about 10. this number helps me'd foi how much moisture is in the atmosphere. these numbers, while they are throughout the day, are still relatively low. that means any time we would get moisture overhead that would fall in the form of w resip between 4:00 and 6:00, these numbers will be high enough as the atmosphere has time to saturate to allow for anything to fraul fall to the ground. we'll looshg at all this in just a moment. winter weather advisory in effect to the north. as we expand the view, well to the north out can lie thats, here's the system. right here moving through the tennessee river valley into the mid south region at this 10 hour for us. and come back in a really bit. again, just the clouds right

change. things happening here. arctic high pressure to the north. that's bringing the cold air into place that we have been experiencing for a few days. storm systems to the west. what's going to happen and what looks like it's going to play in the favor toot be as significant of an impact is what we could have experienced, as this storm system pushes in, it kicks the arctic high out. the wedge pattern, if you will, sets up when the cold air wedges in on the backside of the mpts and keeping us chilly, not going to stick around for quite as long. 7:00 tuesday, temperatures above freezing and we start to see the system lift to go the north. the timing object moisture with this, we pause this at 5:00, a little pink here and there on this has latest what we call rpm future watch in-house forecast. as we roll through the day tomorrow, looks like we have a

rain but starts to see more just rainfall and eventually the surface temperature climbing above freezing. when the water hits the ground, it wouldn't freeze on contact by the afternoon hours. not the case for the morning rush so go on and set the alarms 30 minutes earlier at least to give yourself time. tune in to good day ka and download the weather app to stay ahead ofweather maybe a lingering shower on the the backside of this disturbance. next three days, 38 degrees. that will actually be for the most part during the day. we could climb a little bit by hide night with the warm front moving through. 58 by tuesday. so tuesday we know it's good. a lot of you have tomorrow off. the morning time until 11, 12:00 we have the chance of seeing freezing rain mixing in. once we get to tuesday afternoon especially, and beyond, we forget all about this.

. you could come up with dozens of words to describe usc's outing against kentucky saturday. the best, though, humbling. after coming off a tremendous win over lsu wednesday to put them in a three-way tie atop the sec, the wild cats handed it to the gamecocks saturday afternoon in a game that was seemingly over at half time.

the drawing board for usc as they prepare to hit the road. frank martin said it best after the loss. >> big black eye at school tomorrow. that's happened to me, get punched in the face. everyone knows you're willing to fight for what's yours, though. and we'll walk proudly with two big black eyes around school tomorrow and we'll line up on the tuesday and play and hopefully get back to doing the things that we have done pretty good most of the year. >> meanwhile for staley and the gamecocks, another monday providing another tall task for the second ranked team in the country. usc will hit the road to knoxville to take on the lady vols on big monday. isn't the typical power house on ten. the vols have struggled this season dropping five games in conference play. at the end of the day, it's a highly televised game.
