future with the school district. he began his tenure in baltimore county back in 2000. he had a blueprint for progress. it included specific goals for the district achievement including increased college enrollment and retaining quality teachers and close it in minority achievement gap. multiple sources say he will not stay on as superintendent after his current contract expires on june 30 of next year. he has denied any decisions have been made about his contract or his future with the district. >> right now this is business as usual for joe hairston. at the appropriate time, we will certainly make some further comments. but right now, i've taken a move on to get the job done. >> he did say at the appropriate time. many are wondering if that time will be next week at the next school board meeting which is october 11. jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news.

>> the search is not in harford county for a man accused of shooting two men. police said this shooting happened yesterday on a revenge for an earlier robbery earlier that day. anyone with information should call the harford county sheriff's office. >> the search is on for a group of police impersonators who robbed a south is baltimore home. police say this happened on monday night around 10:00 p.m. on lehigh street. suspect pinned the homeowner against the wall and stole $8,000 in cash and then fled the scene. >> people are finding this is an effective way to prey on people's trust and they are using them to rob them. >> this is the fifth incident of

a home invasion since june. investigators have not ruled out a link between them. the victims have all been hispanic men. >> gary stokes remains in jail this morning. he is charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting that forced the lockdown of the cells security administration headquarters on monday. >> protesters taking part in the occupied wall street movement spent the night at the inner harbor appeared pure holding a silent protest calling for big business to pay their fair share to rebuild the economy. >> we have plenty of money to give way to developers. we have no money to give to the residence. if you're a resident, you have a stake in the city. otherwise, the outsiders are the ones who are getting all the money. >> as a person who was worked in

death. he could receive up to $2 million in compensation for the 25 years he spent behind bars. one person is dead after blinding dust from caused a series of car pileups. than 30 vehicles were involved. a portion of the interstate was closed backing up traffic as far as 6 miles. some big events mark the opening of the national cathedral. spires were force buyerour damaged. there will be a week of special events when it reopens. >> an important reminder for parents about anchoring televisions and furniture. there were tortured 45 tip-over -- were 245 tip-over-related

deaths. the 22,000 children are treated in hospitals because of these tip over incidents. sprint nextel has committed to buy more than 30 million iphones over the next four years. sprint is the third largest carrier and has been losing subscribers due to the lack of an iphone offering. carnival is making big changes for its cruise ships. jane king has more in the bloomberg business report. >> do not let it the book -- if he did not like bank of america credit-card fees then close your account. that's what some are proposing. a new bill to bar banks from opposing fees on people who

>> there is word that this year may be his last. jennifer franciotti is live with exclusive reaction. >> if he is leaving, he is not leaving any time soon. he has about nine months left on his current contract. there is some uncertainty about the future of joe hairston as the head of the baltimore county school system. dr. joe hairston was selected superintendent of baltimore county public schools in the year 2000. his blueprint for progress included very specific goals for the district's achievement, including increased college enrollment, recruiting and retaining quality teachers, and closing a minority achievement gap. this past august as hairston began his 12th year with the district, he told 11 news that student performance had increased consistently during his tenure. >> no one is perfect. there is no perfect school system in america. but if there's a school system that is committed to do all that they can do for its children, you'll see it here in

baltimore county. >> the district has continually scored high marks and won awards for student achievement and spent millions of dollars for the construction of new schools. but on the flip side, hairston took a lot of heat from teachers for the controversial aim initially, meant as a way for teachers to chart student progress. teachers complained that the paperwork was enormous and an unfair way to measure performance. now multiple sources tell 11 news that hairston will not stay on as superintendant after his current contract expires on june 30 of next year. >> we'll have until february to really talk about that. >> hairston denied that any decisions have been made about his contract or his future with the district and told tim tooten that he likely would not discuss his plans for several months. >> right now this is business as usual for joe hairston. at the appropriate time, we will certainly make some further comments. but right now, i've taken a move on to get the job done. >> the next school board
