salt as we did in the last storm. >> and the question remains. where do we put all of this snow? >> hello again i am jennifer gilbert. >> and i am jeff barnd. snow continues to fall and will for some time. how long will it last and how much are we going to get? chief meteorologist vytas reid has a closer look at the latest winter blast. we have to start naming the winter blasts and numbering them. >> kind of like hurricanes. talking about another winter blast, third of the season. right now, decent snowfall coming down heavy across baltimore and dc. zooming out the picture. dry wedge behind the last little wave pushed through. but followed by the secondary low. so the other system pushes in behind the low. and secondary system is actually going to intensify. out over the atlantic. creating very gusty winds that we will have to deal with through the morning and afternoon. winter storm warnings from boston. dc. boston, detroit, cleveland,

chicago. everyone hammered. but we are getting the worst of it. around baltimore area down to d.c.. looks like the hardest hit. and further areas north. as far as how much snowfall we can see. timing shows heavy snow through tonight. and behind it more snow mid-morning, afternoon and winds are a factor tomorrow. so how much snow are we talking about? 14 to 20 plus inches across baltimore, i-95 corridor down through dc. seven to 14 southern portion of the state. and southeastern portion of the state on the eastern shore. but then up around cecil county, wilmington, philadelphia, 1522. heavier amounts across the state line into delaware. and into philadelphia. so here is what it looks like next die planner. snow continues through the overnight, picking up through the morning. windy conditions. as much as 40 to 50 miles per hour gusts. tell but the storm in detail coming up. >> thank you, vytas. >> city crews manage to clear the main roads and many neighborhood streets are

untouched. with another round of snow blowing through, city struggles to keep up. keith daniels is live in north baltimore with the mayor's plans to clear the streets. >> jennifer, city crews tried to get the side streets like this one before the second storm blew through but apparently they will not make it. we're live in the 4200 block of elsa terrace where neighbors have done it themselves. done what they could. they have plowed what they could, to the side. you can see how the snow here has pretty much stacked up here to the side. the street is pretty much impassable. and it may stay that way. for some time. now mayor stephanie rawlings-blake said today that they identify what they call 17 attack on zone areas, those side streets, where they did not see salt or plow trucks, just like this block. and now she said, now that the sec round has started, they will have to concentrate on the primary roads. >> we are doing everything we can to keep moving, but we have

to -- we have to be reasonable in our expectations. this is not a shoveling event. this is a hauling event. we have to pick up the snow and move it. and i am grateful for the partners through the city that gave us location to say move the snow. >> we're back here live. where there is definitely a lot of snow. and it looks again like neighbors with side street troubles like this block, will simply have to do what they have to do. to keep traffic moving. in their neighborhoods. live in med field. keith daniels fox 45 news "late edition." >> thank you, keith. >> first 20-to 30 inches of snow is tough enough to move. now people wonder where to put all television? state officials admit the process is slow and tedious. and since much of the snow from last weekend has been pushed to the road. shoulders and lanes aos long roadways may be blocked. road crews tonight, are fully deployed. >> so our goal here, for the next 48 hours, is going to be to keep the highways passable.

for emergency vehicles. >> the snow is taking up so much of the street parking, baltimore county now has opened up their public garages for free. >> and that brings us to the question of the day. we're asking you again to rate the clean up efforts in your neighborhood. so far, 6 percent say great. 9 percent say good. 24 percent say poor. 61 percent say horrible. jen writes on facebook. we have not seen a plow. and we live on a street that is definitely wide enough for one. i live two blocks from belair road. i know the citizens need to take responsibility. but come on. >> all levels of the government are currently running short on supplies, of course. to get the latest snow off the streets. karen parks live in ellicott city. karen, how much salt is actually left? we have had enough this year. >> well, jeff, you know what, we don't have enough to do the job. not right now. not today. the state is running out. and here is the problem. you see mounds of snow like

this. where are they going to move it and how do they keep the streets clean? what is happening now is after last weekend's big snow storm. the state is running out of salt. the state started with 350,000 tons of salt and now workers have less than half of that to work with. officials say they have started to pull salt from areas that don't need it. like eastern shore. but that will not be enough to solve the problem. nine shipments of salt are expected over the next two weeks. state officials say it could not come soon enough. >> with the dwindling salt supplies we will not be able to use as much salt as we did in the last storm. therefore, it will be a bigger challenge for us to get down to bare pavement. >> the first shipment arrived yesterday from mexico. at the port of baltimore. bringing in about 40,000 tons of salt. reporting live here in ellicott city. karen parks fox 45 news "late edition". >> and if you have not already

made it to the gas station or the grocery store. you might be out of luck. some stations out of gasoline because tanker trucks have not been able to make it into the region. at grocery stores shelves are bare. as people get ready for the next round. >> most unusual thing that we have found through many years in the business. that ice cream sales. ice cream sells extremely well during a snow storm. especially a blizzard and we are selling ice cream. besides the milk, bread, toilet paper. >> san tony's said he plans to keep his highlandtown store open throughout tonight and tomorrow weather permiting. >> hospital workers working overtime tonight. emergency rooms inundated with patients. recent days, at gbmc 1 out of every four people in the er has an injury due to ice or snow. >> did not notice any ice under my feet. slipped, and landed on the ground and hit my head on the

back -- side of the truck. so hopefully we will be out of here soon. >> some er doctors and nurses are all prepared to stay at work as long as they are needed there. >> we have word tonight of an accident involving a tractor trailer in carroll county. it happened on route 30. near route 27 in manchester. our officials say tractor trailer turned sideways and the road was blocked for several hours, creating a backup for miles and miles. we have gotten a lot of calls on this one. for those people that are still stuck out there, officials say the accident has been cleared. and the road reopened. no word about injuries in that accident. >> well, we have a lot of school closing to tell you about. we have divided them into two lists. >> first list, county public schools closed tomorrow only. as of now, anyway. baltimore, caroline, carroll, cecil and harford counties. >> kent county, queen anne, st. mary's county and talbot

overnight. >> flying from bwi thurgood marshall airport, it is not going to happen. last flight left earlier this evening. bwi thurgood marshall airport spokesperson said most airlines have cancelled all flights through wednesday. no words when they will resume. check your flight schedule on our website foxbaltimore.com/news links. >> bge is bracing for new power outages from the latest storm. bge just announced today it restored electricity to most of the customers affected by the weekend storm. 95,000 customers lost power. bge said one of the biggest problems getting the power turned back on has been getting there. >> sometimes we're there before the streets are plowed and we have actually had to park at the side and actually have twome men teams walk in to find the case of trouble. >> bge warns everybody to stay away from any downed power lines. and, in fact, you should call

reid is back to let us know when the snowfall will end. and what is headed our way tomorrow. vytas? >> only halfway, partially through the storm. first low pushing through. and then the secondary low to deal with. and it intensifies and picks up the snow more and creates gusty winds. look at the skycam. downtown. downtown inner harbour, covered with plenty of to show at all. looking at steady snow at all right now. coming down. 28 degrees. winds thousand out of the theft at 12. so see the winds slowlying up and then tomorrow, you will thousands a wig change this winds. getting gusty out of the northwest they were from teen to 20. then up to 20-to 30 . gusting to 40 to 50. so we will be running into problems again with power outages and tree limbs, with the weight on the branches. again looking at snowfall records. 1995 to 1996 season, 62.5 inches. this year, we currently have

60.4 inches. inch shy of beating the past snowfall season record which now we have already seen about 4 inches out there. passing this. the previous record. and continue to add to the totals with the storm pushing through. double barrel storm moving through. this is the current storms. look ahead. another storm. lots of folks talking about the next storm. this one right now, current model date tas showing it taking a southerly track over the carolina and giving snow across arkansas to tennessee. but it looks like the next storm we have to watch out for, is coming out of canada on monday, tuesday. and that could give us snow across parts of the mid-atlantic moving up new england. but keep you posted on that through the weekend into early parts of next week. big winter storm warnings from boston through the mid-atlantic, back to the midwest. closer look. baltimore. dc, western maryland, all included until 7:00 wednesday. see it scoff on through the evening.
