on this disturbing discovery from prospect street. >> reporter: this building condemned by order board of health, the sign taped to milford five hours after a disturbing discovery. >> it's strange, you know. >> reporter: around 1:45 on friday afternoon, medford police got a call to 24 prospect heights. what they found was a man and a woman dead inside a bedroom. two others from the same building were transported to the hospital and are being treated for what's believed to be carbon monoxide poisoning. >> i used to see a han and a -- man and a woman. >> reporter: neighbors say a couple lived in the 24 side of the duplex and carlos alberto says they have a roommate, his friend. >> he said he didn't feel well. >> yeah, did not feel good. >> reporter: that friend, alberto claims, felt ill around 2:00 friday morning and is now in the hospital. >> i'm so sad that we get people [ indiscernible ] >> reporter: the state fire marshal is looking in to whether

in milford, i'm louisa moller, wbz "this morning". right when you come out, you hear a boom and the house in flames. >> a dramatic standoff in everett, tackling a man who caused chaos in the neighborhood on christmas. wbz's jim smith has more on how it all started. >> reporter: an everett neighborhood, turned in to a war zone on christmas day. police and the s.w.a.t. team rushing to summer street after 911 calls from neighbors that a man was firing a gun. >> this was boom! and it scared me. >> reporter: 53-year-old mark was in the house, police fired come out. yoo we don't want anyone hurt today dwoernths want -- we don't want you getting hurt. >> reporter: a standoff and then a break. levine showed his face, hands in

arrested. >> he came out with his hands up and you hear a boom and the house in flames. >> reporter: the house quickly became engulfed a raging fire only minutes after the arrest. >> as he came to the front door, officers observed planes coming -- flames coming from the home, from the front porch, fire was coming, he came out, took him in to custody, he did not come out and just surrender, he was arguing. >> reporter: three handguns on him but nobody was seriously hurt, the air thick with smoke and the remnants of the pepper spray and everybody was asking the question why? >> one of his friends told me his mother just passed away and he was having a hard time renting out the other half of his house, it's scary. because i heard gunshots coming out of his house. >> reporter: last night, fire crews remained at the scene trying to put out hotspots in the house, police do not believe that anybody else was inside,

also don't think at any time he fired at officers but he still faces a number of charges, jim smith, wbz "this morning". two people are dead inside a parked car and this morning, detectives are calling the scene suspicious, happened yesterday in manchester, maine, one of the victims called but by the tie orchss got -- time officers got there, they found the man, a man in his 20s and a woman dead. destroying a home in kranston -- cranston, rhode island, the fire broke out, and they lost everything, including the christmas presents. the police department set up a gofundme painl -- page to help the family. heavy flooding and tornadoes hit the south, hitting a birmingham, alabama neighborhood on christmas day, crews are out

he originally planned to sign under his own software party, they convinced him to run for his own party instead. fedex drivers rushing to serve packages that didn't make it under the tree. many employees volunteered to work on christmas day, but as our julie loncich reports, some customers are still seeing red. >> reporter: according to quite a few people on twitter and facebook, fedex ruined their christmas. thousands are sounding off online, upset their packages didn't arrive in time. in fact, a few unhappy customers spent part of christmas morning at the fedex in south boston, trying to track them down. some were lucky enough to walk out with boxes in tow, but many others left empty handed. jenna of new bedford is among them. >> i was like, kind of last minute, but i had to get my boyfriend something and target had these really nice jackets so i ordered one, and the reason i did was because it had big letters it would be in by the 24th.

such a bonus to go, last december was warm but it was wet last christmas. >> mm-hmm. >> that was just incredible yesterday and the day before to have have a couple of days like that, and we're going to trend back towards average eventually but the 50 degree days in december, now, this is going down unprecedented in terms of this december, mostly related to el nino, el nino is very warm and that warmth getting pumped in to the atmosphere because of the way the jet stream fluctuates, ends up making us fairly warm, so we've had 18 days above 50, 50 or higher, some above 60, obviously and that breaks the record set back in 1953 and will probably have, could have another one today and maybe tomorrow, then they think more typical temperatures. i don't think we're going to see a day like we saw yesterday in that's it. so cooler weather today, but still mild, rain tomorrow morning, so if you have outdoor plans tomorrow morning, if you're going to do something

carbon monoxide killed two people apparently in a milford home, the bodies found inside a 2:00 yesterday afternoon. the district attorney's office tells us two others living in the duplex went to the hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning. investigators are trying to figure out where the deadly gas came from. heavy rain, flooding, and tornado continued to pound the south, the latest tornado hitting a birmingham, alabama neighborhood on christmas day. police say crews are out searching for people who could be trapped nd wrecked houses bs -- trapped inside wrecked houses, more than 100,000 people left without power, 14 people killed in tennessee, arkansas, and mississippi since wednesday. new rules in physical restraint in public schools will soon take effect in massachusetts, the boston globe reports that regulations approved by the board of elementary and secondary education will include limits on how unruly children can be held down.

students who are given the time out to help them calm down. and principals must approve time outs longer than 30 minutes. the new rules take effect on january 1. well coast guard officials in new england are reminding boaters and paddlers that area waters are still dangerously cold despite the unseasonably warm weather. the coast guard said this week that water temperature in boston harbor is currently 46 degrees fahrenheit. harbor waters were about 36 during the coldest winter months last year. so some good perspective there. well, they are the hottest gifs -- gifts of this season, many people found drones and hoverboards under the christmas tree this year but both of them come with pretty big warnings, susie steimle has the story. >> but it's really kind of lazy, because, i could walk, but. welcome back, public colleges in massachusetts say they're doing a better job helping needy students get food, a statewide survey found 25 of the 28 public universities now have their own food pantries or direct students to it a nearby pantry, that's up from 19 in 2014. more than a dozen of those campuses reported an increase in the number of homeless students this year. well, one new mother's special delivery arrived christmas morning and our katie brace clain -- explains it wasn't a gift she was expecting
