temperatures up into the 50s. hour by hour forecast is coming up. let's go on the roads. traffic and weather togetherrobi. >> reporter: big of the slow downs are to the south and earlier crash on 128 southbound still causing problems. the crash was in braintree before the split. the bumper to bummer back up is to route 28 about a 14ment delay. northbound expressway boggs down and to the north look live over the bridge wove a disabled car on 9 # northbound on the bridge. and it's blocking the right lane. the good news is the flatbed tow truck just showed up so hopefully that's cleared soon. 93 southbound has two slow pockets between 495 and dak dash couple and 128. 6:02 investigators will be back on the scene of a chemical explosion in north andover. several workers were seriously injured. >> reporter: investigators-- >> investigators say they were

nicole jacobs is live with more. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you chris and kathryn. at last check investigators were unable to get into the lab where the explosion happened because of the condition of the bidding. but perhaps that will all change this morning when they return at 10 a.m. it was thursday around 2:30 in the afternoon a blast could be heard for miles. >> i heard a loud boom and the house shook a little bit and my dog barked went crazy and i went looked out my back window. >> reporter: the look revealed the dow chemical plant in north andover. >> it was a chemical that was reactive to water and for some reason that will come out as part of the investigation, this chemical reacted with water which resulted in the explosion. >> reporter: four workers from the plant were critically injured. taken to lawrence general. three of them then flown to boston hospitals. >> what the patient has was blast injuries from the pressure of the explosion as well as chemical on their

to and burns as well. >> reporter: this was a similar scene to 2013 when another explosion killed employee carlos amerral. >> it was a different type of chemical and it was a different type of operation that resulted in that incident. >> reporter: but still so many questions as this investigation continues. dow cheep chal plant official released the state our thraws and prayers are with family friends and colleagues during this difficult time an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident. again we are told investigators should arrive back at the plant this morning at 10 a.m. of course, trying to confirm exactly what may have caused this explosion. we are live in north andover nicole jacobs wbz this morning. >> thanks very much. 6:04 right now. the search is on for the suspect in a stabbing on the south shore. susie steimle is live in brain stree this morning and police

and police say it may have start as a case of road rage. >> reporter: that's right kathryn. they say this started as some kind of a fight in an intersection near south shore plaza. now, one man is in the hospital with stab wounds and the other took off. >> scariest thing i ever seen. >> reporter: zan sheehan and his friend josh ledger saw flashing lights and ran over with a camera to capture the scene. >> that's him on the ground. >> we heard him scream. >> reporter: a randolph man was stabbed several times after an apparent road rage incident. >> someone said that he was actually like walking in the street with blood covered all over him so he went to the grass and people was warming him up and the first couple police cars showed up. >> reporter: thursdaya noon near granite and forbes road, outside south shore plaza, two drivers got into some kind of an altercation. the van pulled over and the driver of a honda was stabbed and the other man took off. moments later police began their investigation.

everything off and looking up and down the streets. >> reporter: stabbing victim was conscious in the hospital. police interviewed him last night in hopes they will track down a suspect soon. active investigation. they spent a lot of time last night on the scene trying to pick up evidence that might help them track down that suspect's car. live in braintree, susie steimle wbz this morning. >> thanks very much. we are following breaking news right now. a police officer ambushed while philadelphia. investigators say that the gunman fired 13 shots at close range late last night at least 3 bullets hit officer jesse shattering his bones. amazingly he was able to shoot back. the suspended gunman is under arrest. officer harnett is in the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive. developing overnight, two terror arrests here in the the u.s. both with alleged ties to isis.

at that. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the suspects will be arraigned in federal courts. the department of justice says both arrests came out of the same multistate probe. they are iraqi refugees living in sacramento and houston. but cbs news reports the pair might have been connected in some way. court documents reveal the 23- year-old sacramento suspect communicated over social media with an unnamed individual living in texas back in 2013. in one exchange the two allegedly discussed training and fighting overseas. the texas person eye dent night as individual one writes i need to learn from your weapon and the sacramento -- expertise. and the sax ramo suspect says if you arrive and i am still there i will train you a criminal complaint unsealed thursday accuses the sacramento man of traveling to syria from the u.s. and back again after fighting alongside a terror organization then lying to investigators about that trip.

it's going to be a soaking rain too with significant rain a few rumble of thunder maybe possible isolated. rain is heavy at times. and the heaviest rain comes in on sunday afternoon to early evening. mainly between a half an inch and an inch and a half but likely higher tote nals heavier bands. we need mid-50s to break the record and may get there in some communities. wide range in temperatures out the door right now by the way. depending on where you are. we have got teens and 20s and 40s. and singeling digits 11 in in boston. look at the wide range in southeastern massachusetts from 18 in taunton to 39 and 41 in marshfield. so will is a within off the ocean water temperatures in the 40s dragging in milder air. low 40s from providencetown to chatham and nantucket as well. there's been clouds in place. clouds will win out today. so with that wind coming in off the ocean it drags in some of

and the wet weather is well to the south and west though. so for us, it's a little bit of drizzle that may develop after the evening commute tonight and into the morning hours tomorrow. and anything that does develop again drizzle should be very light but all it takes is just a touch of freezing drizzle to slickent roads. we may get he that in a couple spots mainly outside 495 early tomorrow morning. otherwise i say tomorrow is the pick of the weekend because it will be mostly dry but it's not going to be a pretty day. a lot of clouds will be around. sunday, the rain moves in and rains hard. and it wraps up by sunday evening. monday will feature a cooling temperature. we will fall through the 30s on monday. so that's something to prep for after being so mild on sunday afternoon. hour by hour, couple of isolated showers possible tomorrow. early tomorrow morning, there may be a few slick spots if that freezing drizzle develops but it would be mainly the route 2 corridor outside of 495. and sunday morning, 7 a.m., mainly dry but rain approaching. moving in from west to east by late morning.

dow chemical plant is closed this morning. this is as far as we can g investigators are spec to be back at the plant -- expected to be back at the plant today. we were told yesterday they were unable to get inside the actual laboratory because of the conditions of the bidding but hopefully they can do that this morning when they return. the blast happened yesterday afternoon at the dow chemical plant. officials believe it was the result of a chemical reacting with water four people were critically injured three flown to boston hospital. another explosion happened in 2013 but the fire marshal says the two incidents were not related. >> twais a -- it was a different chemical and operation that resulted in that incident. >> reporter: so they are hoping to further confirm the exact cause of this explosion. again, they are expected to return here this morning at 10 a.m. live in north andover nicole jacobs wbz this morning.

update this morning. 6:33 right now. police are searching for the suspect in an apparent road rage incident on the south shore. susie sometimeel is live in braintree -- steimle is live in braintree with the details. >> reporter: good morning. this incident happened in a very public place. police are calling it some kind of an incident of road rage. two men got into a fight at an intersection near south shore plaza. they then drove bound the road a little ways before both pulling over. that's when one ended up with stab wounds and the other took off. we talked to a couple of witnesses last night who say that they saw bystanders helping the man who was bleeding profusely from several stab wounds to the upper body. we heard from two young men who ran out of the barnes and noble park lot to see the whole scene unfolding. >> we heard him screaming. >> he said he was actually like walking in the street with blood covered all over him. so he went to the grass and

the first couple police cars. >> reporter: the victim of the stabbing was awake and talking last night. police calling this a very active and open investigation. they spent a considerable amount of time on the scene trying to gather evidence they are hoping will help them track down the suspect's car. live in braintree, susie steimle wbz this morning. and state police arrest a man they say led them on a chase from dennis all the way to middleboro. officers say the man threatened to harm others and police thought he was armed. once he came to a stop they found a fake handgun inside the car. secret service agent determined to walk after a crash this new hampshire that left him paralyzed. now his fiancee is speaking out about the journey. bree is here with more. >> reporter: good morning. this couple has been together for nine years. and they are planning a wedding in march. a week and half ago joan lyall

arrested two men in two states both they say have ties to the islamic state militants. a man in california is accused of traveling to syria to fight with terrorists and lying to investigators about it. a second man in texas has been indicted on trying to provide material support to extremists. this wild fire burning in western australia is out of control right now. three people are missing 4 firefighters have been hurt and 95 homes were destroyed. investigators think lightning strikes sparked the flames on wednesday. in boston. nbc announcing it will pull affiliation with whdh channel 7. the network will launch a new station nbc baston on january 1st, 2017. the new nbc station will air over the air on channel 60 which is currently telemundo. so that means nbc programming will no longer air on channel
