felon accused of shooting a boston police officer face as judge and acts out in the middle of court. the officer is at whom recovering. gooda noon i am chris mckinnon. >> i am kathryn hauser. today we are learning the shooting could have been worse. chantee lans is live with details coming to light chantee. >> reporter: kathryn and chris good afternoon the shooting suspect gave an outburst in the middle of court after the judge set bail at 1 million dollars. dozens of boston police line upand fill the seats in support of fellow officer kurt stokinger a drug unit cop shot in the leg in dorchester friday in the line of duty. >> gps thank you. >> reporter: an outburst about the accused shooter 27-year-old grant headley a convicted drug dealer in dorchester. he is not seen acourt approved to stand in the hallway.

and all that is left of the burned out shell. nicole jacobs is live with more on what we are learning about this fire. good afternoon nicole. >> reporter: good afternoon to you chris and kathryn. crews are now here boarding up the windows of the home. we are told the man who lived here had done so since he was a child. but this morning, he was unable to escape the raging second floor flames. on hammond street in gloucester fire tears through the single family home. it was just before 4 a.m. firefighters got the call. >> first floor was fairly clear and second floor was fully involved on arrival of the initial companies. >> reporter: it raged and they entered the home to attack it. and search for anyone still inside. >> they were able to make it up to the stairs but the fire was had taken hold of the structure pretty well. >> reporter: that's where crews saw the victims with the flames so fierce they were forced to retreatch the man who lived in

christina hagueer is live for latest. what can you tell us christina. >> reporter: michael mccarthy pleaded not guilty in court and his defense attorney said the case against him is based on the word of baby bella bond's mother and he says that she is not even close to being a credible witness. michael mccarthy cleaned up from the first time we saw him. haircut. as a superior court prosecutor described what his girlfriend baby bella bond's mother says she saw after he allegedly punched the girl to death. >> she saw the defendant standing half kneeling over the prone girl who was on either ground. and he was moving his arms rapidly around the area of her mid section. >> reporter: but his attorney for the first time revealed autopsy details that there were

mid section nor trauma to her head. he says rachelle bond who is charged with accessory after own guilt. >> she lied about it for months to everybody who she talked to and when she finally realized that she could no longer lie about it, she came up with a story that pointed the finger at mr. mccarthy. >> reporter: mccarthy's father was in court and the man whose plumbing business the couple stole weights from before throwing them with the girl's body into the boston harbor. that body later turning up on deer island. known for months as baby doe. until an acquaintance tipped off police. the defense attorney said despite several searches of the couple's home investigators never found forensic evidence. no dna or hair nothing linking

-- album back released on his birthday last friday he was 69. police in hudson new hampshire are investigating the early morning crash that sent a jeep right into a church. police say the driver lost control coming around a turn at 5 this morning and wound up going through the church's glass window on central street. the driver a 47-year-old man from nashua was arrested for drunk driving. in saugus a serious crash near the lynn line police say a 35-year-old man was ejected from the car just after one this morning when it hit a utility pole. no other cars were involved in the crash. police say they are investigating the cause of the accident. the count down is on. and the patriots are getting back to work today. they play the chiefs at home saturday in the divisional playoffs and here's good news for pats fans. wide receiver julienne -- julian sedelman will be on the field. november 15th in a game against the giants and had surgery to fix the broken bone. and we have got you covered on

the fever you have spring fever after yet. >> -- yesterday. >> yes. >> anyway that's gone by so i am sure the fever is moving away as we got the terms of reality back here with us. the temperature back in the 30s after yesterday's 50s. 34 in boston right now. and we have got mid to upper 30s down towards the cape and 20s off to the north and west. we showed you earlier it feels like the upper teens and lower 20s and yesterday, when i was on i showed you how warm it was on the eastern seaboard and cold out west. last evening 21 below zero when i was on international falls minnesota and 7 below zero right now and it's 7 in chicago and 12 in cleveland and so even yesterday. wouldn't be thankful we are not out here where it's really cold. wind this afternoon and which will be dropping down a little afternoon. won't be quite as fierce as howling. so as we go through the afternoon the temperature is

afternoon and beyond. this will head eastward as a little package of energy comes along and intensifies the precipitation. looks like we will be borderline in eastern massachusetts. mostly rain and a rain snow line to the west. then it will trigger a change eastern massachusetts and then morning. how much do you think we will get out of this? looks like a coating up to a portion here. there could be a couple spots which may have a little more than two inches tomorrow night and just a few wet flakes down over the cape as this whole thing ends on wednesday morning. then we have another storm this weekend that we will be watching. because of course we have got the pats game on saturday we will see where the rain snow line sets up on sa. looks like it is going to be close but right now favoring rain more than anything else. and doesn't look like a major storm at this point. but snow out to the north and west of foxborough but mixing with snow before it game -- before the game is over. there could be another system sunday.
