6:13 pm
it was a little more warmer and gray outside in nor'easter hours away here eric and strange that it is not going to involve snow for all that many people right. >> no a lot of us will see mostly rain out of this one. mid january after a cold week and that's the way the winter has been going. here's some of the bullet points timing and rain arrives after midnight and then a mix of rain and wet snow will end between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. from south to north. what's falling from the sky, rain toward the coast and southeastern massachusetts and a flip to wet snow inland as well as parts of essex and southeastern new hampshire and our strongest wind is tomorrow out of the northeast. some peak gusts to 40 to 55 miles per hour at the outer cape. winter weather advisory along and west of 128 and doesn't see winter storm warnings. that's an lay sign of bigger snow and we don't expect any big snow totals and look at rain from detroit toward the outer banks and a new area of low pressure forming in here
6:14 pm
as it moves north it runs into colder air and temperatures should be a little bit belowfreezing in northern worcester and southern new hampshire. as we see this move in after midnight could be a few hours of freezing rain before switching over to regular rainfall. so if you have to travel on that time be cautious. otherwise tomorrow morning is the region. and as that rain picks up in intensity it drags down colder air from up above our heads. i think we flip the snowfall and berkshires and ver monts and worcester county will see the change and southern new hampshire and as all this works its way farther eastward, that he snow line could collapse close to boston and close to the shoreline. notice that midday we are seeing the snow across new hampshire dipping towards essex and the sea coast also and south and east staying with all rain. by early afternoon, everything is -- everything is moving off to the north and east and work in a couple glimpse of sunshine before we get to sunset at 4:38 tomorrow. looking at mainly rain line right in here along 128 and south and east.
6:15 pm
possible across the interior. and the mainly snow line starts around concord points farther north. and in terms of snow totals wetsnow after a rainfall and we used up the storm in rain so we are looking at coating to a slushy inch from the 128 corridor parts of essex county here the sea coast and reaching back into worcester county. that's where we pick up a chance of one to three. so plow operators might have to go out tomorrow morning towardsmidday and the best chance into new hampshire the biggest totals north of concord. wind gusts the strongest across the cape. 40 to 50 miles per hour and gusty winds as well all along the shoreline. and inland breezy and not causing significant issues. in fact no one should see power outages or downed trees. for the patriots game out early in the morning, it will be raining at a good clip a chilly rainfall and pretty gusty also. but by 2:00 we are dry and most of the tailgate looks dry and chilly and breezy in the 30s and falling down through the 30s as that game goes on. but it's all dry and during the
6:16 pm
20 2/5 miles per hour out of the west. high temperatures in the 30s west of 128 tomorrow. 40s south and east mildest temps chosest to the storm sit -- closest to the storm sent he. if it's not patriots that has the interest this weekend but skiing and know boarding the best northern now ham sure and vermont another chance on monday and tomorrow and cold ahead and snow guns will be able to work efficiently and certainly the slopes getting better as we move into the second half of january. and then there's one more system to watch. this is late sunday night into monday. it's well-off shore and a trough of low pressure could give us areas of snowfall to start the week and behind that, it's about the chill. accu-weather seven-day watching the chance for snow late sunday into monday and then 20s for monday and tuesday and wednesday and maybe into thursday for many areas. a cold week and david and paula next week is on average the bottom of winter the coldest theel is cellar already. >> the bottom of winter. i love thinking of it that way.
6:17 pm
>> thanks appreciate it. sir dan roche is live and talking patriots and dan you said number 12 will be there >> right. >> we should keep our fingersed crossed on everything else. >> that's about all we know. look at it the injury report came out about aa hour ago andlooks like the team is questionable that's how many are listed 17 overall. offensive lineman jackson the only one ruled out but 12 players questionable for the game against the chiefs including yes rob gronkowski the big name we are watching. he did partake in the walk through on a limited basis but that's good after he didn't do anything on thursday. questionable with a knee and back injury last night number 87 the top tightend and huge weapon but the chiefs have number 87 and travis is someone the pats are concerned with. >> i would say it's a
6:18 pm
i would say catching the ball and then after the catch is of the -- after the catch is phenomenal guys fall off him and miss tackes and that's good comparison between him and gronk. >> the chiefs beat texans last week 30-0 and it was the first playoff win since 1994. and they know on the op sid side defending super bowl champ patriots. alex smith will play in the 5th career post season game having won two and lost two and know who he is getting up against the best there is in tom brady. >> to be hon of the i haven't given -- honest, i haven't given it a ton of thought it's the 30th post season start and that's a big number. i think he leads every quarterback quarterback stats including touchdowns and wins and things like that and so, yeah, he's the dude everybody is chasing and to be doing it as long as he has, it's
6:19 pm
>> and just to short while ago the chief arrived and the last time the two teams met was in kansas city last year. pats played the worst game in the belichick brady era 41-14 and that turned around the season as they went onto wint super bowl. should be a very interesting game of course here at gillette stadium. coming up at 7 top of the hour live edition of patriots all access. lots to talk about including a sit down with mccourty and a sneak peek of what he coming up he's says the team knows the difference between the regular and post season. >> coach belichick the staff does a great job of flipping the switch into the playoffs. i don't care if we are coming off you note end of the regular season up 4-0, 5-0 you know this year 2-4. it's the regular season is gone. whatever stats whatever you do, it doesn't matter. it's all about how you play in one game. >> wbz has it all tomorrow starting with a 90 hadn't addition of patriots game day
6:20 pm
at 4:35 followed by 5th quarter post game show here on wbz bruins and celtics and joe kelly avoids arbitration. 2.16 million dollar deal for the red sox. the cbs evening news is up next at 6:30. >> and scott pelley joins because preview tonight. scott. >> great to be with you in boston. we will have charlie rose andsean penn interview talking about the interview with el chapo and he tells charlie why he thinks he may be in danger today. that and the wall street news and rest of the world news coming up on the cbs evening news in 10 minutes. >> we will see you then. still to come stepping into
6:21 pm
there are two democratic visions for regulating wall street. one says it's okay to take millions from big banks and then tell them what to do. my plan -- break up the big banks, close the tax loopholes, and make them pay their fair share. then we can expand health care to all, and provide universal college education. will they like me? no. will they begin to play by the rules if i'm president? you better believe it. i'm bernie sanders

look at historic images of boston released by the new york public library. images are not like pictures we are used to seeing today but they tell a fantastic story about the way life changed over the past century or in some ways how it remains the same since the winter we begin with this at park street look up at statehouse and beside the way people are dressed looks similar looks like last winter when we had 110 inches snow. this is from boston common and very busy area, again, looks like a snapshot from today. and finally an image from the navy shipyard in charlestown that looks different. this is where they used to make ships until after the vietnam war when it was closed down. this picture certainly looks different. paula. >> and david speaking of way back, some boston's oldest trolley parts are revived. pulled from the shelves of a museum to be put back to work.
