>> reporter: it was a very busy day for republicans. it started very early this morning, but it was a rally here in milford for trump. it drew the biggest crowd as he tries to bounce back from iowa. >> the next president of the united states, donald trump! >> reporter: a local boost for donald trump. the former senator scott brown backing him before a packed crude of thousands in milford while trump tried to defend his second place finish in iowa. >> i went there and i think we did really well. we did really well. >> reporter: suddenly for trump, second place is okay. >> we did really fantastic include and came very close to winning. >> reporter: his new hampshire supporters are disappointed. >> i was disappointed but i don't think it is going to map. i think he is going to do well in new hampshire. >> reporter: but many here, including ernie bob jr. say trump is still their best bet. saying that ted cruz, donald trump and marco rubio are untested and lacked the experience to be president. john kasich, meanwhile, says he is ready to roll in new hampshire. he is trying to position himself as a candidate who can deliver on promises to bring conservative reform to washington. >> chris christie is hoping to jump start his campaign in new hampshire, but in his he doesn't, the new jersey governor joked he has been told by friend john bon jovi that there is an opening in the band for a tambourine player. and the battle is heating up between hillary clinton and bernie sanders. >> and both candidates hit the ground running after a virtual tie in iowa. ken? >> reporter: david, folks packed the cafeteria here at the high school tonight for a hillary clinton rally. her challenge in the next week here in new hampshire is to somehow make up 30 points on bernie sanders. massachusetts' top prosecutor returned to the high school

this important election. breaking news tonight at 11:00, the marine corps says it has found traces of dna from marines who died in a helicopter collision off of hawaii. 23-year-old christopher orlando those helicopters. he and 11 other marines were on a nighttime training mission when the two choppers crashed into the ocean on january 14. well, tonight we have our eye on the storm. we will make a run at record high temperatures tomorrow, but the clouds are rolling in and we're looking at a spring-like soaker. here? >> reporter: the first rain starts to move in by late tomorrow emergency and mostly just rainfall again here across new england. bad. many suburbs have fallen into the upper 20s. tonight. we have extremely warm air. cinci at 60. cleveland at 49 degrees at this hour. a large sprawling storm system,

traverse city, michigan and the clouds are just starting to increase here across southern new england. tomorrow morning, we'll be all dry. one place to oh watch, southwestern new hampshire, it might be a very brief window of freezing rain, but i think predominantly it is regular rainfall. we're in the 40s for most of the day. our steadiest rain is across the region and we're way up into the 50s tomorrow night. what follows that? we'll take a look at the longer range forecast the a few. lisa? >> eric, thank you. tonight the police are asking for help solving the mystery surrounding a little boy's death in roxbury. the 3-year-old was found unresponsive over the weekend and he died today. we are outside the child's home. julie? >> reporter: lisa, the police haven't said yet what they believe might have happened to this toddler inside this roxbury apartment, but i just spoke with a close friend of the child's mother. she tells me, he was a happy, happy little boy.

father here at the time of the incident. >> a very happy, vibrant young baby. he was very happy, full of life. he could harm nobody. i don't understand how anyone could harm him. >> reporter: two days after he was rushed with life- threatening injuries from this second floor apartment in roxbury after what police are calling a trauma incident, the 3-year-old boy died. boston police responded to sunday night. detectives have been seen coming and going since then. dcf tells wbz the department has been involved with the child's family. just last friday, two days prior to the incident, the social workers contacted the the report? the boy was well fed, clean and had no behavioral issues. for now they are only classifying the child's passing

dcf conducts its own investigation. and tonight dcf we have learned has custody of white's 5-month- old sister. we're live in roxbury, wbz news. david, back to you. >> just awful. thank you. a commuter rail train hit and killed a 13-year-old boy in deadham tonight. they say he stepped out on to the tracks and they don't suspect foul play. the service is back up and running. j and new tonight, we're learning a group of heroic bystanders tried to save a drive here was trapped underneath an suv in boston. now, the state police tell us that some even used their own carjacks to lift up the wreckage. unfortunately, they were not successful and that driver later died at the faulkner hospital. best's fire chief say as fedex driver did everything right when hydro colorric acid

stunning new video tonight of an explosion on a flight above east africa. the blast blowing out a side of the airplane. look at the hole right there. this happened shortly after taking off from the airport in somalia. the pilot was able to land the plane, believe it or not. the investigators are now trying to figure out what happened. some alarming news on the zika virus. we learned it watts spread by sexual contact in dallas. the paint had sex with someone infected in another country. and the virus is primarily spread by mosquitoes and right now is being blamed for a spike in birth defects in two dozen countries. we have new video of bill cosby leaving a pennsylvania

to toss out sexual assault charges his attorney argued that cosby made a deal with the former d. a. that he would never face charges in this case. the judge is expected to rule on this after a hearing tomorrow. a dangerous rescue in missouri when a teenager fell through thin ice. you can see an officer trying to help, but he could not reach the boy. the rescue crews showed up minutes later. they were able to save him. the teenager is expected to be okay. tonight severe weather striking parts of the south and that same system is actually headed our way. this is from alabama. a suspected tornado touching down near birmingham. check out this unbelievable video from nebraska where blizzard conditions causing white outs across the state. a homeowner shot this video from her yard in the northeastern part of the state. strong winds and heavy snowfall forcing the officials to close many of the roadways there tonight. and in parts of the country, that is what winter looks like now. >> i like the way it looks

happy here. >> it is a little different in other parts of the nation. snow moving through parts of the midwest tonight. you see there in parts of eastern nebraska and iowa seeing the snow, but otherwise, look at the rain. it is going well up into michigan and even thunder well up into michigan. northeast and grand rapids tonight so a lot of warm ire again in the east. even in new england, this is going to change over to rain during the day tomorrow. the temperatures tonight have bottomed out. upper 20s to lower 30s across much of the area. warm in the city centers. good news for us because it will warm up just enough to avoid any icy concerns. tomorrow morning at the bus stop, about 32 degrees. you'll want to bring the umbrella because by the end of the day the rain will be moving in. the clouds thickening in the morning. the one area we'll watch tomorrow morning is northern worcester county and southwestern new hampshire. there could be a brief period with freezing rain. so something to keep close tabs on.

from west to east as we head through the day. in southeastern massachusetts, it won't be until late in the afternoon. a lot of the day will be dry. as we approach the commute, look at where the rain is setting up. right across the boston area, along the pike, metro west. it should be a pretty slow go as we head through tomorrow night and very slowly, that rain will continue to press eastward, just starting to leave the cape and the islands on thursday morning. it is going to be a spring like rain. we're in the 40s for most of the day. our warmest temperatures tomorrow are actually in the evening and the first half of the overnight that's where they spike well up into the 50s. even well up into southern new hampshire. without any snow pack, there is not a lot of resistance for that warm air. nothing to hold it back tomorrow. as you look at the records, 57 in worcester. i think we'll come up just short. boston is very close. and our high temperature will probably be at this time tomorrow evening so something to watch. very warm regardless tomorrow night. also watching the winds moving

i think our strongest wins -- winds will coincide with the warmest temperature. some gusts 40 to 50 miles per hour in southeastern massachusetts as well as cape anne and blustery inland as well. a very wind swept rain and poor travel conditions tomorrow night. then thursday morning, the front just offshore. maybe a few sprinkles, still holding on to the cape. another wave moves up along it late thursday night into friday morning, and that could bring us the chance for light snowfall. it doesn't look major now, but the best chance around the cape and the islands and maybe the south coast. the next significant storm we're watching is early next week and the signs are there that between & and wednesday, a good chance for a coastal storm. it is too early for any details to know where this is going to track. that is the one to watch. important because the my mayor, a week from tonight. that could have an impact. in between all of that, this weekend looks petty quiet.

early next week will be the next interesting thing to keep an eye on. >> back to campaign 2016 tonight. we're taking a closer look at the key issues driving this election. no and first up, im-- and first up, immigration. jon keel ser here with the border wars. >>reporter: immigration has been a hot button issue for years, but donald trump's call for walling off the u.s.-mexico border, estimated cost in excess of $25 billion, has turned up the heat. trump says mexico will pay for it. his critics say that is ribbed and that has become a -- that has -- is ridiculous and that has become a major flash point in the border wars. >> who is going to pay for the wall? >> mexico! >> reporter: it has become donald trump's signature issue, his vow to wall off the mexican border, but according to the d.c.-based center for immigration studies, that is --

he is right that we need to do a better job of border security, but his idea is presented in a very cartoonish way without nuance, you can't fence the entire border a fence is very effective where it can be controlled but in other areas it is a complete waste of money. roar marco rubio has been on the defensive over his role in the 2013 gang of eight immigration reform bill. the critics say it amounts to amnesty. >> it once and for all deals with the issue of those who are here legally. >> reporter: for macko to suggest our record is the same is like suggesting the fireman and the arsonist have the same record because they're both at the scene of a fire. like ted cruz, vaughn has little use for the stance ten by marco rubio. >> rubio has been running from his very clear record in fay very of comprehensive

anger over a flood of illegal immigrant labor undermining wage growth is valid. >> bringing drugs, they're bringing crime. they're rapists and some i assume are good people. >> reporter: but she balks at some of trump's rhetoric. >> the reality is immigrants, even illegal immigrants are no more or less likely to commit crimes than anyone else. >> reporter: on the democratic side, vaughn says bernie sanders' record in vermont suggests he might be that hillary clinton is right on immigration. >> reporter: bernie sanders has in the past had some strong and principalled disagreements with these policies, particularly on increasing guest worker programs. but sanders opposes a trump- style border wall while clinton acknowledges voting for a fence in the senate, but dismisses trump's plan. jeb bush and chris christie oppose the wall concept while
