in place this morning. they will give way to breaks in sunshine and we warm up into the 50s today. look at that, well above average. keep in mind in time of year we should be about 10 to 15 degrees above ab average. low to mid-50s to wooster. in the 50s there the south shore back down to the coast. a brief shower is possible tomorrow. we'll time it out in a couple of minutes. >> all right. thank you. we do have a story breaking overnight. our virginia police officer working our very first day on the job, two other officers have been shot responding to a domestic related incident. they say the man who opened fire on the officers is a member of the military and is now in custody. he reportedly killed his wife during a dispute. a child in the home was not injured. the gunman has not been identified.

authorized a capital murder charge against him. the officer who was killed has been identified as ashley gwenden. she was on her first shift saturday when she was shot. the condition of two other wounded officers is not known at this hour. police investigating a deadly crash after a driver crossed the median on route 495. the driver was killed instantly. the passenger is hospitalized with life threatening injuries. it was in a toyota when investigators say a driver of a toyota tacoma truck crossed over the median. it is unclear what caused the driver to veer off. he is a 41-year-old. he does not have life threatening injuries but is charges. a pilot now recovering

over trying to land in plymouth. yesterday he was practicing take-offs and landings, an exercise called touch and goes. a teenager who was near by taking flying lessons witnessed the accident. >> the engines revved up as loud as they could go and then dead silence and you heard the wings crash on the ground. >> the pilot was conscious after the crash. his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. in chatham there was an emergency landing for a small plane there. they came down without any landing gear hitting the ground on its belly. luckily no one was hurt. and tomorrow this campaign goes national. >> hillary clinton looking forward to super tuesday after a decisive win in south

an update on an amazing story. the little girl who got a life- saving transplant is doing well this morning. two-year-old brooklyn ferris would have died without a new lever. her family got the call that a viable organ was available in chicago but they live in tennessee. every commercial and charter flight they tried to book had been canceled. when fed ex heard about their story they talked about a special overnight delivery. >> we got there and there was a corporate jet waiting for us that was fueled up and ready to go. >> i have goose bumps. >> that's right. they rerouted a plane to get them there. brooklyn is expected to live a

the ocean and onto the streets near san diego. the pup was nearly lost hiding under an suv at one point. officers tried to keep him in one spot until experts from sea world alived. they said the pup was dehydrated because it couldn't find enough food in the ocean. they promised to fatten him up and get him back in the water soon. thank goodness. that needed to be a happy ending. there is much more ahead. we do have an update on break news. a police officer shot and killed on her very first day on the job. also ahead, a decisive win, the role massachusetts will play in her quest to be the democratic nominee. and coming up micro greens could change the way you eat.

wbz jim smith reports that the finding is creating concern for some people especially pregnant women. what's upsetting is how long it took to fiend out. >> we were shocked and then you know we wanted answers. >> reporter: archingous times for nate markley of maynard after learning tests reveal elevated else will of a potentially dangerous compound in one of the town's drinking water wells. a chemical that can cause big problems for women expecting. markley's wife is 9 month pregnant. >> we have been concerned aboutcorrelation was miscarriage in the first trimester with possible stillborn births and bladder cancer liver problems and nervous system problems over time. >> reporter: the chemicals are called trihalomethanes it's created when water is treated with chlorine to combat bacteria. the town says the water is safe
