it's 6:00 this morning. we're glad you're with us on this saturday, september 10th. i'm kerry connolly along with pamela gardner hanging out with me this morning. >> good morning. >> good morning to you. >> good to see you. >> always fun to be here and catch up. >> we do our girl talks during the breaks. got to love that. we have some sunshine this weekend? >> we do. more sun than rain rain chances even though the rain chances are going to stick around both today and tomorrow. >> okay. >> for now it's mainly dry. degrees in manchester, lawrence waking up to 72 degrees. we're dodging a couple of rain drops out here and the heaviest rain stem cell well to the south -- still well to the south of us. sprinkles across cape cod and the heaviest rain moving across martha's vineyard. partly cloudy skies to the north and west of boston to into southern new hampshire. we have a warm front lifting to the north across new england for

west here and because that warm front position we're going to keep a spotty shower in the forecast later today. ultimately it will be dry so don't be surprised if you see a rain drop. most of the day bursts of sun and cooler along the coast. 79 degrees for the lunch hour. that barbecue in the afternoon, late early evening, 82 degrees. very pleasant. but we have a better chance for rain as that cold front approaches for sunday. the chance for a storm too. i'll have that hour by hour timing in j >> all right , . pamela, thank you so much. this morning it's official, rob gronkowski is out for sunday's patriots season opener. the star tight end just named one of the captains is dealing with a leg injury. it's another set back for a team already not playing with tom brady. dan roach has more. >> rob gronkowski doesn't usually play for the preseason so when he didn't suit up it

big deal. his hamstring has not approved so he will miss the season opener against the cardinals tomorrow night. he hurt his hamstring in a joint practice with the bears. since then we assumed the opener wasn't in doubt but now he's out. that means jimmy garoppolo won't have the weapon that any quarterback could use. >> gronkowski said he's week to week. maybe the home opener dolphins. >> more bad news for the patriotses, the key left tackle is out as well and jonathan cooper, the guard that the patriots got from arizona is out. the patriots line will have some trouble against the cardinals. i'm dan roach, wbz sports. >> it's still patriots football. the pats and

the pregame and the 5th quarter is on wbz right after the game. 6:02 now. a man who lived here is facing charges accused of secretly videotaping more than a dozen women while they were naked. investigators describe the women as innocent victims who had no idea what he was doing. that is until one heard a beeping sound. wbz's katy brace spoke to one of his roommates. >> young professionals with multiple roommates in among them teddy jaris. the now 32-year-old secretly recorded some of the women who lived with him and visited the apartment. >> detectives say the videos were taken in the bedroom and bathroom and show women undressed and in sexual activity. >> it's scary. >> if form -- this former roommate just found out about the investigation and said she never

>> she was he was -- he was strange and kept to herself. >> a roommate heard a beeping and she found a cell phone. detectives found videos taken in 2011 and 2013 through 2015. they say jaris has lots of recorded devices including a camera in a plastic hook use today hang towels in the bathroom. he is accused of using it to record women in the shower at two somerville apartments. >> it makes you do a double take and go backve that you guys lived together? >> yes, exactly. >> she is now contacting police. jaris is free on his own bond. he faces numerous counts of secretly recording an unsuspecting nude person as well as secretly recording conversations. in somerville, katy brace, wbz this morning. boston police officers will begin wearing body cameras on monday now that a judge cleared the way for the program. the

city to court saying body cameras put the officers at greater risk. the union agreed to a voluntary program but officers should not have been selected against their will. >> change doesn't come easy. i think there's a lot of what ifs. what ifs. so i think once the officers get it going they will realize that it's a valuable tool that can increase their safety as well as capture some of the incidents. >> the judge gave ultimate authority over the program to the police commissioner saying th harder to persuade membership to volunteers to wear the cameras. the fbi is offering a $20,000 reward to catch a gang leader. they believe that he's still in the boston area. he was last seen in everett in july and believed to be armed and dangerous. the fbi said he's a member of ms 13, a gang linked

of killing a police detective will get a new trial. shawn ellis was freed after serving more than 22 years in prison for the murder of detective john mulligan. the supreme court said newly discovered evidence linking detective mulligan to corrupt investigators cast doubt on the conviction. the suffolk county da plans to bring new charges against ellis. there will be no more school dances in walpol. the district said they're drunk kids on the dance floor and wanted to send a clear message about underage drinking. not everyone thinks it's fair. >> a tradition coming to an end. >> upset. it's the heard ee last year so it -- it's the last year so it would have been the last dances here. it's kind of a bummer. >> their principal announced the canceling of all dances with the exception of prom because of students showing up drunk. >> i've seen them.

>> not according to the school's principal. he released a statement to wbz reading in part, after escorting intoxicated kids off the dance floor for the last five consecutive dances i decided we needed to take a break. it's a shame because the majority of students go to dances just to have fun and are able to do so without alcohol. >> it takes away from the other kids because they want to have fun at the dance too. >> some of the best memories have been at the dances. >> senior collin said this isn't the >> the knee knee -- the neon dance, they canceled that one last year. >> why? >> due to the same problems as the other ones. >> a formal wanter -- winter ball and the pink dance, a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness are canceled. >> it's unfair to cancel the ones that are fundraisers like the pink dance. >> parents weigh in too. >> it's sad . i feel bad for the kids. i do.

comfortable, a warm start to the day. still humid too. the dew point temperatures running in the mid to upper 60s for some. we will keep the humidity all afternoon. ocean temperatures sitting at a cooler 68 degrees. 71 degrees in boston. an on shore wind will help to keep temperatures in the low to mid 70s along the coast. in your hour by hour forecast, you see for boston we kind of just sit at 73 degrees through the early part of this afternoon under a partly sunny high temperatures vary from place to place. cooler along the coast. rockport at 77, the low to mid 80s further inland. 85 for norwood, 86 degrees in taunton. again, it's going to be humid. lowing to want -- tonight dip back into the 70s. 70 degrees in boston. another muggy forecast anticipated as well. then sunday the humidity starts to break late in the afternoon as a cold front passes through. cape and island forecast, you see there's a chance for rain,

too. for today 77, partly sunny. if you're head ed ed to the north or if you are in the north areas here, saturday 72, sunday 76. a chance for rain both today and tomorrow, at least a better chance to the north. current radar picture shows not a lot of rain here until you get way to our south. a few showers pushing towards the islands. other wise, a couple of sprinkles there in worcester county. there's a warm front that northward through new england later today keeping that slight rain chance in there. it's just more of an annoyance than anything. mostly dry in your hour by hour this afternoon. a better chance for rain to the north and west. by sunday afternoon that cold front is going to move across. after 3:00 the rain gets out of here, the storms get out of here too and it's going to be much drier. lower humidity on monday and 73.

look temporarily. the plaza was lit up in red, orange and yellow part of last night's nationwide effort to stand up to cancer. cbs and more than 60 other network broadcast a one-hour fundraiser to raise money to fight cancer. we are still waiting for final totals on how much last night's broadcast has raised so far but it was certainly a star studded show. bradley cooper was the executive producer of the event. stars of all levels tak changed by the deadly disease. >> it's like taking 8 million people a year. that's crazy. so the more that we can give to this research the more that number can decrease. >> i feel like especially for the younger generation, my mom had cancer when i was 16, the more i learned about what my mom was going through and the kind of treatment she was doing and it took away that fear for me. >> stand up for cancer will continue to stream through the

in boston. >> did we? wow. >> 93 degrees . it was humid. it was the sum mer-like day. now it's going to be another summer-like forecast for this afternoon but soon some fall-like temperatures will be upon us for, say, next week. for now starting off with warm. temperatures across the board, 71 in boston and taunton, 69 in manchester, 62 in concord. cooler and more comfortable further to the north. that's where we have lower dew point temperatures but a warm front is sitt t helping to increase the humidity levels, increasing the clouds and we have a couple of showers here and there. mainly across the islands now, some spotty showers, a couple sprinkles to the north and west of boston. most of us staying dry though even as the warm front lifts to the north. the cold front back to our west is sitting in tomorrow. that gives us the better chance of scattered showers and storms. hour by hour, most of us will be dry,

new light in the moments after two shooters opened fire in san bernardino, california and then escaped. they fired 100 rounds inside the complex that was hosting a holiday party. police arrived just 6 minutes after the first call to 911 on december 2nd of last year. as many officers charged inside they found chaotic conditions and 14 people died, 22 more went to the hospital. farook and maleek -- died in a shoot out with police. john hinckley is now 61 years old and doctors say he's no longer a danger to himself or

due to his tight hamstring and has been ruled out for the opener tomorrow in arizona against the cardinals. the hope was that gronkowski would be able to suit up in the opener but did not make the team flight to arizona yesterday and the team downgraded him to out. that means jimmy garoppolo will be without one of the biggest weapons as he goes up against a tough cardinals defense in at opener. the former cardinal jonathan cooper also out for tomorrow's game. that's two linemen out already for the pats. that certainly hurts. >> we know tom brady of course not making the trip as he gets set to serve the first of his four-game suspension. he was a guest on jim gray's radio show and second-degree why he didn't continue to fight his suspicion. he said the right thing was to

some spotty showers that were once on radar have actually dissipated as they continue to track to the north and east so slowly across this warm front that will continue to lift across new england later on today. that's why we'll keep the brief chance for a shower in the forecast even though most of the day will be dry. partly sunny in your hour by hour forecast. bursts of sunshine periodically with an isolated shower chance. the best chance for rain later today will be to the north and west and maybe a thunderstorm crossing, say, northern new england in the lakes and starting off mostly dry but some spotty showers expected in southeastern massachusetts and then we'll watch this cold front approach from the west. afternoon sunday could be a little rainy, could be a little stormy as well. the isolated storm chance passing through boston between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. then everything moves offshore. this dry front giving us drier conditions and changes

this driver in this suv was dangling off a texas garage on friday afternoon. he told police he just couldn't stop it. wires kept him from crashing nine floors to the ground. the 24-year-old driver somehow got out just fine with no injuries. first responders eventually lower lowered the suv to the groun a massachusetts para olympian is in rio begins his quest for gold. chad davis used to run track at the university of hartford. in his freshman year a rare eye disease cost him his time on the track. he's now 22 years old and said he's very thankful to everyone who helped
