charged incidents but i spoke with the former head master who claims this is all groundless. >> there is no discrimination at boston latin school. >> reporter: reacting strongly to news that the u.s. attorney found evidence of racial discrimination at boston latin school, essentially calling the findings baseless. >> they are treated the same way for the same offenses consist notly. >> reporter: a federal investigation was launched into the prestigious school after students and community activities argue that the school does not properly handle racially charged incidents between students and on monday, the u.s. attorney said that the school did violate title 9 of the civil rights act when it mishandled allegations that 1 student called another student a racial slur and threatened to

cord. there were two other troubling incidents and inconsistencys with student discipline. >> claims that there was a civil rights violation on a case in which we did handle and the student was punished. it seems to me it's really reaching pretty far. >> reporter: plal comflynn calls the investigation purely political and that's why he remained. >> i knew the superintendent had failed in their tell the truth about the school. >> reporter: there is an action plan in place now to change the racial environment. louisa moller, wbz news. rescued at sea days after the coast guard called off the search for a missing mother and son and a passing freighter found the young man and his mother is still missing.

jim? >> reporter: david, this is an incredible story of survival. but unfortunately, there is sad news. the coast guard does not believe there is any way that linda carman could be alive so the search for her is over but her son did indeed make it. >> he was found in a life raft with a lifejacket and treading water. >> reporter: nathan carman's rescue was the story of mystery. about a week after he left on a fishing trip with his mother, he was found by a freighter in a life raft. but where is his mother linda? she remains missing. >> he said that the ship was taking on water and got the life raft and looked for his mom to get in the life raft and couldn't find her. >> reporter: linda carman told a friend she and her son would take their boat, the chicken

i spoke with the witness who recorded it calling it shocking, dangerous, and kind of funny. >> very strange to see. >> reporter: it's a shocking sight in the tip o'neill tunnel. >> he didn't seem worried or lost, just pedaling away. >> reporter: friends were leaving boston and heading north on 93 on sunday when they spotted this guy riding on a hubway rental bicycle in the break-down lane. >> it's so outrageous that funny. you can't believe someone is doing this. >> reporter: which is why anderson started recording. >> once he realized i had my phone out, he gave us the peace sign. he didn't seem concerned he was in the tunnel. >> it was more of a shock. he was putting his life on the line. >> reporter: and hubway agrees posting a statement on facebook saying it's extremely dangerous and definitely illegal to ride a bike on 93 or any highway. do not do it.

their riding privileges revoked. >> it's dangerous. it was funny at the time but that break down area disappears as soon as you go around the corner so he is literally in the left lane. >> reporter: he the mystery rider got out? seems like no one knows for sure. this is something that you guys will remember? >> i won't forget this. >> reporter: and we still don't know the identity of the bike rider. hubway doesn't put gps on their bikes so there is no clear way highway. live in boston, chantee lans, wbz news. >> oh, i was so nervous. we called mass dot to see if they have any video, and they said no, we don't have video of that biker but of this biker and yes, another one in the prudential tunnel after 1:00 in the morning on wednesday.

rider off. how does this happen? how are you not scared to death? >> well, 1 in the morning on sunday. let's talk about biking this week. there won't be many good days to go out. we will go grayer and wetter and a chance for rainfalls and this morning, it was all about the chill in the air. you can feel the change happen like that, friday last week, springfield, 31 and 30s in portland and boston, 48. always the warmest spot on the map. when the cold mornings do and bright days, they get the foliage machine cranking and moderate color so if you are doing hiking later there week or into the weekend, you will notice more of the pops of color.

new bedford, 62, and hyannis at 61 and we're watching changes. you might have noticed a beautiful sky. the leading clouds from the next approaching front will bring us a chance of rain late tonight and right now, the showers in western new york and pennsylvania will get in here before daybreak tomorrow. hour by hour, the clouds increasing overnight. 7:00 a.m., during the morning commute or getting ready for school, scattered showers across the region and a gusty southerly breeze. and we cose heavy downpours as well. and the best chance for heavier rain, south of boston towards the south coast and is moving quickly, and by lunchtime, it's offshore and as we look towards the afternoon and evening, we will get a period of clearing with sunshine and low 70s tomorrow which i have to say might feel warm and then by wednesday morning, back come the clouds and drizzle, the showers and that will be the

lot of actual rain, unfortunately. temps in the upper 50s to near 60 and midday, lingering showers towards cape cod. otherwise, we're working in the sun from west to east and low 70s tomorrow afternoon. so feeling pretty good. rain totals, not estimated to be very heavy. i think the best chance for soaking downpours is towards the cape and islands, hopefully, if we're lucky, we'll over achieve, and then e areas of low pressure, one offshore and another inland and most of the steadier rain just to the south or west. that's wednesday into thursday and friday and we will have an on shore northeast wind. and that will give us clouds and drizzle and a few bouts of showers. and that chance will be with us through saturday even into sunday with the final round of showers before things start to dry out for us. almost every day brings with it a chance for rainfall.
